- [You honestly think there's a murder happening when it hits six in the morning and you hear a scream on the first floor--it's near the bathrooms, too.
But upon actually checking, that isn't the case.
There's no dead bodies, especially not in Murderless March, but Inaba might as well be a proverbial corpse, because she's going to die of embarrassment.
If someone just takes a peek, they'll immediately understand why.
The normally composed and cold girl named Inaba Himeko is completely stuck in a maid outfit.
Unfortunately for her, too, she doesn't have something to cover it up with, so she's just stuck like this. On a school day. Which also means all of the third years get to see her in this during the entire class period.
Of course this means aggressively trying to avoid people now more than ever, to the point where the moment she sees a transfer student--or anyone else, really, she starts to bolt. But she's pretty easy to catch up to, given that she isn't exactly the athletic sort.]
↳ option two. ( dreamscape #01 / cw: human experimentation mentions & sudden mind + emotion reading )
- [The dream that you enter in leads you from the forest into what seems to be a clubroom.
You're alone--but there seems to have been some activity in the room. Warmth.
But then the door opens with a bit of a creak, and there's...
...a mysterious man that appears, the light in their eyes completely gone. They see you, and speak, walking further into the clubroom. They open their mouth, but the voice that comes out is monotone, near emotionless.]
"I see.
I suppose that you, a visitor, are interesting enough to join the bonus round."
[And just as he says that, another set of footsteps enters in.
It's a girl that you probably do recognize. However, she's not wearing the usual Yogen uniform, but instead a very different uniform and her breath stills and her eyes widen in shock, her mouth opening, the words not entirely coming out at first.
Her nails dig into the skin and the shock soon turns to anger in her expression.]
Did you do something to them--
[She steps in quickly, and the man swiftly moves to leave.]
Goddamn it. [Inaba curses, because she knows all too well that she's powerless to stop anything. Of course she is.] Sorry about that.
[She answers, calm. Cool. Collected.
Just as always.]
That was supposed to be my problem. [No emotion.] They didn't spout some weird bullshit at you, did they?
↳ option three. ( dreamscape #02 / cw: memory loss, but for inaba only )
- [In this dreamscape, you find yourself in the same clubroom.
However, you find yourself surrounded by five others, Inaba included. Those who are observant will notice that the pendant that she normally wears is absent.
At some point, you're noticed and she turns to you and asks--]
Hey, have you figured out what you want to write for March's gazette yet? It's due at the end of the month, so we have a lot of time, but it's better to get things started earlier rather than later.
↳ option wildcard.
- [Want to play something completely different that isn't any of these prompts? Feel free to hit me up at
Also as a heads up, the second prompt will deal with characters being able to suddenly hear Inaba's thoughts/feel her emotions randomly and if you want to opt into the reverse, feel free to let me know, I'm down for it. But it's primarily there for people to understand Inaba a little more. This actually describes what the phenomena entails better than I can.
And the third prompt deals with Inaba's muddled up memories and how she's experienced a lot of very specific memory loss that isn't quite amnesia.]

[Inaba allows herself to lead the way, and but after a few minutes Inaba stops, finding something off.]
...This hallway is too long.
[There are a multitude of doors on their left side, but it seems that looking further in, the hallway seems to just keep going, and going, and going--
Like there's no tangible end to it.
The doors, while looking like normal classroom doors also seem... odd.
Instead of normal three digits, there's only two: going from one to twelve. If they pass the twelve again, the hallway seems to loop back to one.]
no subject
I'm guessing there's something we're supposed to find behind these doors. Hm.
[ One to twelve. If this is the case, then-- ]
With how our luck's been... I'd say, let's try door number 4.
[ Tempting fate a bit, but there has to be something there. ]
no subject
[But alright.
She puts her hand on door number foor, and what tumbles out is a girl who soon stumbles onto her feet and speaks with high energy.]
"Inabaaaan~ And... oho! Who's this? A new friend? Non, non, perhaps... you finally decided to do it? You know, that thing you talked to me about before, the whatchamacallit-- très bien? Wait, that's not it. It was something with an M..."
I-Iori, is now really the time?
[She's grateful that it's just her, or what seems to be her, although she's a little baffled.
And yet, luck isn't kind, because the thought is sent-
Her sentiment is rather matter-of-fact, a little dry in spite of the actual words that she was thinking.]
no subject
[ Well, there goes any pretenses of him pretending he can't hear, and keeping it a secret. Miyuki chokes a bit, because what in the actual hell is this other girl talking about? That thing they talked about-- what????? Truthfully, Miyuki doesn't know French that well still. He is still, a boy that has access to the internet.
Inaba, are you propositioning your friends?! ]
N-No, I'm just a friend of hers!
[ Augh, he even forgot to-- ]
I mean, somebody she just knows! Nothing like that!
[ INABA HELP????? ]
no subject
"I'm just kidding!"
[And she pats Miyuki in the shoulder with full confidence. The smile doesn't fade--instead, it just softens.]
"Well, I'm glad that Inaban made a new friend. She generally has good judgment when it comes to that sort of thing."
Iori...
"She gets really lonely easily, so I worry if she'll be okay. She was never the type to make friends, after all. Even though she's gotten better about it--I mean, she was part of the number one couple in our school--there are still things that never really change.
Anyway! You guys wanted to go through this door, right? It won't lead you out of this place."
[Iori says those last few words, knowingly. It almost sends shivers down Inaba's spine--hearing her speak so casually, yet with an air of confidence.]
"But you need to go through it anyway to do so. And through that door, Inaban..." [Iori's gaze flits to her friend, worried.] "The way out isn't necessarily a nice path. But... I think she trusts you enough that even if you do see it, you won't hate her for it."
Wait, what do you mean by that--
"Come on, Inaban, hurry, hurry-- if you don't go in soon, neither of you guys will be safe!"
[Iori's already pushing Inaba right into the door, although with enough time to allow Miyuki to say something, if he'd like.]
no subject
Still, he's surprised when the other girl mentions that the exit isn't this way, but it's still necessary? He's confused, but it very well could be a requirement to see multiple rooms.
...Even if you do see it, you won't hate her. ]
Wait a second.
[ He hasn't moved yet, standing by. For all of the prying he thinks he's done already... ]
If it's personal, then it should be Inaba's choice that I go in. Would it be that bad if I waited out here for her?
no subject
And the light in her eyes is gone.
There's a smile, but it's one that screams danger, even as she keeps her tone light.]
"Were you not listening? Sigh... I thought you were at least smarter than this. This door only opens once. Once I shut it, nobody can come back in, or out. And more importantly, if you do nothing, something really bad will happen to both of you. You are not safe here.
Although Inaban would definitely say no! But that's okay."
[She lets go of Inaba's hand, which makes her whir around as Iori steps closer to Miyuki, that smile plastered on her face for a second, two...
...and then there's a draft of cold wind that rushes in behind her, almost as if on cue.
She whispers, only so that he can hear:]
"Because I can just make her."
Iori? What are you two--
"Just making sure your new friend understands. That this is a place that someone can only leave once they understand [Inaba Himeko]."
What...? Iori, what are you say--
[She cuts herself off, in realization.
It all clicks, in her head now. Why that man appeared, when he was supposed to be basically out of their lives forever. All of this.
...Of course.]
... Is that all?
"Mmhm! That's all. And I wouldn't lie to you, Inaban." [The light in Iori's eyes returns, and she beams.] "Not about this. I know this probably isn't the best way to make a friend, but... you really want one again, in spite of what you say. So that's my piece! You have a few options. You can both go in and everything will be okay. You can have Inaban go in alone, but that would be very bad for both of you... or you can stay out here. Which is also bad! So I guess there's only one good choice, ahaha."
no subject
I get it.
[ He had already made his choice a while ago. He wanted to know the true Inaba Himeko, if for no other reason than for her to have someone she can actually rely on.
If he gave up already, then what would've been the point? ]
Let's go then, Inaba. The sooner we do, the sooner we can find out way out of here.
[ He's anxious, and he doesn't like this. It's too invasive, too personal--
"What kind of shithead would leave a friend to face this alone?"
And any fleeting thoughts that pass by, just gives him more of a reason to keep going. Alright, Iori. He'll go through this door.
no subject
[She's nervous, sure. After all, she isn't sure entirely what Iori means, or what lies ahead of them.
But all that she's certain about is that it's something that she might not like.
Inaba swallows, and then nods before stepping through.
The door closes behind them, and for a few seconds everything goes completely dark.
The world around them disorients and then, they find themselves in what seems to an empty hallway.
But if they peer closely, there's two figures.
Walking closer shows who those two figures are.
One of them is Inaba herself--wearing her own, normal school uniform. But that doesn't mean that the other one is necessarily gone.
The other is Iori, with her hair in a side ponytail instead of how it was untied when they had first encountered her. The expression that she wears is a grim one. They seem to be talking, but don't seem to see the duo yet. Inaba, in her haste speaks up, in a low whisper.]
Shit. It'll be bad if they see me, so it looks like I'll have to hide... I wonder if they'll say anything that will help us get out of here.
[She wants to hope that maybe there's a clue.]
no subject
Time travel isn't really a factor where he comes from, nor does he really know if this is anything like that itself. It feels like a terrible simulation of something Inaba's been through before, but if she's standing right there, that may change a few things.
Right then. ]
Alright. Keep yourself hidden... I'll see if I can't at least get within earshot.
[ Probably easier said than done, but he can at least be nonchalant about it. As in, mainly walking a bit further and trying not to seem conspicuous as he tries to glean whatever this place's Inaba and the other girl-- Iori? Whatever they were talking about. ]
no subject
And even more than that, she's seen what's happened to those who saw something 'wrong' about the world herself.
Seeing two of herself exist, in this moment...
It could be catastrophic. In any case, Inaba just nods, knowing to keep herself hidden. Being in the shadows only comes naturally for someone like her.
When he gets closer, he'll be able to hear what they're talking about:]
"So, I'll cut to the chase..."
['Inaba' speaks, with a bit of hesitance. Iori seems to wear a cold expression that bores into Inaba's own, and then, sudden, the thoughts of the 'Inaba' here can be heard.
They're loud, extremely so. But they speak measures.
'Please don't look at me like that... Can't you see I'm already scared enough as it is?'
Even with those thoughts loud and reverberating in the space, 'Inaba' presses forward.]
"Is it true Taichi asked you out? And is it true that you said no?"
"Yeah. It's all true."
"What happened?"
"Nothing happened. He asked, and I declined. That's all there is to it."
[Iori's own voice is icy, and it immediately sets 'Inaba' off--]
"But you--I mean--then what the fuck was the point of our stupid love triangle shit?! Did something make you change your mind or what?!"
[Anger. Boiling anger.
The present Inaba can hear this and she swallows. She knows this is a memory. She doesn't think to change it. All she can do is watch and worry, even as her past self's thoughts are heard once again.
'Fuck, I'm losing my composure again. Jut like yesterday.']
"Why do you want to know?"
"So I can understand--"
"What is there to understand? I'm sorry, Inaban... I don't think I can explain it to you. Either way, you don't have to worry about me. I'm not interested in being Taichi's girlfriend anymore."
[The screams of 'Inaba's' turmoil are loud enough to almost shake the school like an earthquake.
'You can't just tell me not to worry. It doesn't work like that!']
"Look... By any chance, does this have something to do with the Sentiment Transmission?"
"...I can't pretend it's one hundred percent unrelated."
"O-Okay, well, let's maybe rethink this, alright? The phenomenon's clearly affecting your judgment. Let's just wait for everything to go back to normal, and--"
"Yeah, I told myself that for a while. But when exactly do we get our 'normal' back? Sure, this phenomenon will end eventually... but what happens when the next one starts? People are easily swayed, y'know? So what makes «Heartseed»'s phenomena so different from, say, peer pressure? Besides, this whole thing with me and Taichi first started during the body-swap. Wouldn't that mean my judgment was affected back then, too? Seriously, though, what's your deal? Do you want us together or not?"
[And 'Inaba' is completely stunned into silence, unable to come up with an answer. Iori walks away, evidently done with this conversation.]

Matters of the heart aren't easy to talk about, are they? Not that, going back to his own school, he's said anything of note to anyone about Shinomiya in a while.
The waves of emotion start getting to him a bit, as he clenches his fists and bites his tongue. He can feel Inaba get angrier, upset at this girl who seemingly has... turned down someone they may have both been interested in? While the other's thoughts never came to him, all he could tell was that she attempted to remain calm throughout.
It was hard to tell what it was from his own perspective. He was terrified to even look back at the present Inaba, unsure of what she'd think of him seeing any of this. His commentary wasn't necessary to begin with, and would only complicate matters.
Bits and pieces just start forming. Taichi, someone they were both interested in. Iori, a romantic rival who had made up her mind to let him go. Meaning, Inaba... Inaba was willing on her end to fight her own feelings back for this other girl's sake?
He winces at her 'screams', at least glad to have a name for what he's experiencing too-- Sentiment Transmission. It's a lot of context being shoved at him, between the appearance of Heartseed earlier, the idea of some kind of phenomenon happening at least more than once (bodyswap??), and whether or not... all of this really mattered to their interpersonal relationships?
Once Iori starts to walk away, Miyuki's frozen. What the hell is he supposed to do with any of this information? He can't just walk back to Inaba and tell her about this conversation-- surely, she heard some of it and would be able to pinpoint exactly what this was. But he can't really give up his own position, can he? All he can think is--
'What did you want, Inaba?'
Any guesses he could have would be conjecture at best. He doesn't know the full scope of the situation outside of what he can glean, but was she really willing to give up for this other girl? Was the other girl willing to give up for her? And most importantly to him--
'How are things supposed to go back to normal after this anyway?'
Even after whatever this phenomena is, if there's even a little bit of free time... could they have pretended none of that ever happened?
Right now, all he can do is just take a deep breath and try to make his way back, trying not to make a sound, or be noticed by this 'Inaba'. ]
no subject
[Inaba notices him walking back and the 'Inaba' there doesn't seem to be moving at all, hanging her head with a mixture of emotions. She wears a bit of an apologetic look in her eyes as she nervously fiddles with the pendant around her neck.
Force of habit.]
...Sorry you had to deal with that crap. I shouldn't have--
[...]
I should have known.
[She has a good guess as to what happened after sifting through her memories.]
What a pain in the ass. I shouldn't have been so hopeful.
no subject
...No, I should be apologizing. That was really none of my business.
[ That really was something he shouldn't have seen... but. ]
I take it that Taichi is... ah...
[ Must be the one Inaba's been talking about this entire time. ]
no subject
[She shifts uneasily from one heel to the other, as if that would help her in any way. It doesn't.]
Yeah. Taichi's the one that I was dating before I... died, I suppose.
no subject
...Do you regret that?
[ After that conversation, if things were that bitter between the two... but, on the other hand, the girl they met prior to this room didn't seem bothered at the beginning? ]
no subject
[She says it so nonchalantly that it almost breaks the tension in the air. Almost.]
no subject
[ ...well. Of course, she wouldn't regret that if they dated after that, up to the point where Inaba showed up here. For that matter, the conversation might have been something that needed to happen if there was a love triangle--
...
Hold the fuck on. ]
Ménage à trois?
[ INABA???? ]
1 / 2
That was just a joke! I was talking to Iori on the phone one night and -- I was like. "Haha, maybe we could just go 'screw the love triangle, let's just have a threesome'!"
2 / 2
[And she bites her tongue in embarrassment.
Kill her now.
She might already be in the afterlife, but just. End her.]
no subject
What the hell, did she just go 'nya'? ]
Alright, alright! I believe you, really!
[ If he says anything else about this or goes any further, he'll probably be left here to die. He'll just shelve this surprisingly cute Inaba Himeko as a reminder of how she can be from time to time. ]
A-Anyway, it all sounds complex, so maybe we should set that aside for now and just move on?
no subject
[She takes a heavy sigh and pouts a little bit, although her embarrassment doesn't seem to have faded in the slightest.]
It's -- a lot. I can explain whatever you ask to the best of my ability, though. Since we're already knee deep. Anyway, a conversation like that doesn't really give us anything to work with. But maybe we can see if we can either head to the classroom or back to the clubroom.
no subject
[ Clarification's always good to have, even if none of it makes sense. ]
What I'm experiencing right now, from what you mentioned to your friend and the experience I'm going through's called "Sentiment Transmission". Which seems to have something to do with that man I met earlier... Heartseed? That's the basic gist of it, anyway.
[ There's a lot missing for sure, but that's the start of it, probably? ]
I don't suppose it matters too much at the moment. Right now, we should pick another door. [ A pause. ] Any suggestions?
no subject
[She doesn't elaborate too much--she doesn't need to, unless asked further. So for now she just gives the bare minimum.]
Let me see, is she still there...?
[She peers there and lo and behold the 'Inaba' is still there.
But then, 'Inaba' gets up on her two feet and begins to walk--]
Want to try trailing her?
no subject
I'll give it a shot. Stay nearby, in case I need help.
[ An obvious statement, but honestly... he doesn't want to be branded a stalker if he gets found out. Waiting for a comfortable distance, Miyuki proceeds on, following behind this 'Inaba'.
Hopefully, whatever she does gets them out of there quickly. ]
