may event log
The atmosphere grows heavier by the day. There is blood smeared around the school by students with injuries, and each time a character sees it they're struck by a sense of vertigo and unreality. The world seems to blur and spin at times, and at times they can see flickers of the other school in front of them before it disappears.
Patches of shadows will begin to appear around the entire right wing of all floors, including the locker area including the rooftop. Throughout the month the areas in which they appear will continue to expand, beginning to encompass pieces of the left wing. They appear at random at times, suddenly below ones feet, and those who can see that the floor has disappeared will find themselves falling - further and further until it suddenly stops, and they find themselves right back where they started.
Curiously, those who cannot see do not suffer from these effects. Instead, they may notice the biting cold more prominently, or hear and feel the loud sound of rotten and and broken floorboards beneath their feet in the school and barren landscaping outside. The school supplies they hold might seem to have fallen apart, the walls feel as though a fire has burnt them up and rotted them out. But it always disappears within moments - a few seconds, a trace of their hand.
In the forest, stairs appear here and there. If one chooses to walk up them, they seem to go to no where, and if they continue on long enough they'll find themselves somewhere else entirely - most off in the Mirror Room or Summoning room, but occasionally it might be a classroom or somewhere else entirely. The void will have an inverse effect, showing bits and pieces of the normal school, and if characters aren't careful they wall onto what they think is solid ground only to start falling into the true void.
Mirrors show different scenes from time to time. They may see empty scenery from back home, an older version of the school, or otherwise of the other school. If one turns their back on a mirror, they may find that something will reach out and try to grab them. These are easily shaken off, but they will be pulled against the mirror until it shatters or their body is crushed otherwise. It's as though reality itself were being eroded at by some unknown force.
Nagito Komaeda is more susceptible to the above effects, and they are more likely to occur in his presence. It's probably just his luck.
Nene Yashiro will be less susceptible to the above effects, and find that the shadow students tend to avoid her. However, she may find herself feeling ill, or struggling to recall things. At times it seems as though something is eating away at her memory, replaced by a strong enter the void. This effect is temporary.

Hinata Hajime's body will be found in the mirror room resting in front of the mirror. He looks peaceful, as though he were merely sleeping. The mirror in front of him has shattered. There is blood on the glass fragments. There are no signs of malpractice, but until the body anyone with supernatural sight will be able to see a group of shadow figures in a loose circle around him. Passing through one will leave them cold and numb, but they will not intervene with efforts to take the body. Those who visit the void on or after this date may think they see him int he void, but the sight flickers out to reveal it to be one of the shadow figures. The closer one was to Hinata, the more likely this is to occur.
There are additional messages left scattered across the clock tower:
".ɘɿoʇɘd ɘɿɘʜ ƚ'nƨɒw yɒwllɒʜ ƨiʜT"
".owƚ ƚɘǫ bnɒ ,ɘnin oƚ ɘviʇ bbɒ I"
".oɿɘz ,ɘvlɘwƚ ,ɿuoʇ yƚnɘwT"
Chiaki Nanami will find a note placed on her pillow:
"Take care of him."
Nagito Komaeda will find a copy of Confessions sitting on his desk at the student store. In one of the pages toward the back a note has been tucked inside:
"Take care of her."
Both notes match Hinata's handwriting.

The sound of turning cogs and the ticking of the clock grows louder, then comes to an abrupt stop. The hands continue to move with the time, but no sound will be heard. It will no longer chime on the hour.
At some point during the day, twelve students will go missing.

✽ Desecration of the body will not be allowed. Hinata's player was kind enough to allow use of their character to progress the plot, so please be respectful.
✽ The shadowy figures will appear more frequently where there is blood, fresh or otherwise, and/or mirrors.
✽ As with last month, characters who are isolated will find that they are more susceptible to being followed by the figures, and it may take longer interactions to dispel them completely.
✽ Items from the student shop that ward off supernatural creatures will aide in keeping the shadows from getting too close at first, but their effectiveness will wear off the longer a character is followed. They have a stacking effect.
✽ The counselor is only available to discuss contracts and possible deals this month. He seems to be in deep thought about something during discussions.
✽ Students will notice rumors are spreading more frequently, both about the school and player characters.
✽ Please stay tuned for additional updates toward the end of the month.

[and they have their screens up so Noah gets to watch the technobabble in real-time, aka way too fast for a normal person to keep up with... it's fine, i aint gonna explain it so noah doesnt have to understand it either, something something wow that's a lot of sun El in ur affinity pie chart or however this works]
... complete. "Shadow" El energy identified as a mixture of majority dark El with sun El used as an amplifier. Based on recorded observations, affinity for this type of El energy is high with minimal side-effects.

[That his shadow magic isn't something that's going to hurt him by using it a lot, he means. Granted, his arm did turn black, but it's not like it hurts — it's just discolouration, and Noah's already discoloured in the hair and eye factor so it doesn't matter. Aesthetically it just makes him look More Goth.
So, mutated magic, he's compatible with that. Moon affinity is very bad. In Noah's mind, that means he needs to practice it more — right? Like math. Noah's math affinity is also low.]
Um... do you know if it's possible to improve my affinity with the moon El by practicing? [He wants to be a healer so bad right now.]
no subject
studying magic scientifically is simple for them, but understanding how using magic and altering natural affinities works... is a bit outside their grasp! and Add's. after all, elemental affinity for Nasods is just a matter of using the right hardware. Master Add can't even use magic naturally...
... but he did alter his body's composition with high concentrations of Henir energy, which is kind of like altering El affinity? maybe? they throw up some more diagrams to cope]
Known data on this topic is inconclusive. Changes to El affinity in magic users varies greatly between individual cases.
Practising... practising... Dynamo will observe.
cw more scientific self-harm
Can you observe now and tell me what you think? [Sorry Add, Dynamo is being stolen for crimes.] Just don't be alarmed at this, okay?
["Don't be alarmed" says Noah, a wannabe emo kid, who immediately picks up the knife again and draws another thin line into his left arm with a tiny wince. It's not deep and it's certainly not bleeding too much, but he's quick to heal it with that same spell and re-observe the results. They say that all good scientists test the outcome three times, right? So this is try number two. Looking good.]
no subject
they close out the rest of the screens for now, leaving just the diagram of Noah's body and some wavy line charts next to it. there's probably some important health-related data on there, like heartrate, maybe an HP/MP bar... normal stuff
they are not alarmed at the cutting, because obviously this is for science and that makes self-harm perfectly okay, dwbi
analyzing...]
... no injuries detected. Healing duration: 11.29 seconds. Estimated mana efficiency is 7.03%. [there is also an extremely minor change in the crystallization heat map, probably, look at those big red warning blobs go]
no subject
But really Noah's gonna focus on the important bits here which are—]
Seven percent? That's one percent less efficient than last time... and almost twelve seconds to heal a cut that minor... [Think of how long it's gonna take him to heal something bigger! People can die in that time!] Oh. I have an idea. Dynamo, can you tell me the mana efficiency of this?
[Noah makes a little ball of light-coloured celestial magic in his hand, something that'd be useful as a nightlight if it were dark. He'll try doing shadow magic next, but this will help him gauge the "feel" of this new magic with the old. He thinks, anyway. He's not a sciencer.]
no subject
[we need to do MORE magic to figure out if doing more magic actually helps or if it just makes everything worse, this might be why Add fucked himself up so badly
they can analyze this new spell, though! Dynamo does its scan, considering the glowy ball for a moment.]
Analyzing... complete. El energy composition identified as majority sun El with traces of dark El. Efficiency rate: 38.77%, mana loss is within acceptable levels. [beep!]
no subject
[Noah doesn't really understand percentages and he's not going to pretend to, but if the rate of efficiency is 38.77% that tells him that he's way better at celestial magic (for obvious reasons of a great teacher, love you Clamor) but also... he clearly has a lot of work to do in terms of mana efficiency. Goals!]
Can you tell me the efficiency rate of this one?
[He casts Star Coaster — no, just kidding, he does not. Noah switches to making a ball of shadow magic instead. No cats. Not yet.
The cats are in another thread.]no subject
but this is shadow magic so] Analyzing... Efficiency rate: 88.45%, minimal mana loss detected!
[new high score!!]
no subject
Huh... that makes sense. [Why is it not 100%? Noah wants to achieve the Highest score.
Not important now, you know what's important? Seeing if Dynamo is having fun. Which is to say: Noah forms this ball of shadow into Dynamo!]
Um... look! It's you. It can't scan anything like you can, though.
no subject
but oh, it's them! they immediately scan the shadow-dynamo. analyzing...
beep] Error, no Nasod core detected. This is not a Dynamo unit.
no subject
No, it's not really you, but it looks like you. See? It's, um... it's what we call a joke. Like, if you made a hologram of me and said it was me, it wouldn't actually be me. You'd be kidding around.
[Elria help him.]
no subject
a joke... they understand the definition of "joke" but this was not something they considered to be a "joke". is their definition out of date? but oh, they know how to do something like that. does this mean they can do... a joke??
their avatar flickers out of existence. processing... rendering...
...
it takes a minute, but they gradually load in a new hologram from the floor up... that looks exactly like Noah, if Noah were made of purple-tinged hardlight hologram. the edges are still a little blocky here and there, but they've been practising this! it's a very good impression. Noah 2 does a very tiny Noah-like smile.]
Um... look! It's you. [they can also copy his voice, yeah, recordings are cool like that]
no subject
That's really cool! You got exactly what I was trying to show you, too. [He's teaching Dynamo only the best things.] I can't mimic sounds with my shadows, though, so you have me beat there.
