The atmosphere grows heavier by the day. There is blood smeared around the school by students with injuries, and each time a character sees it they're struck by a sense of vertigo and unreality. The world seems to blur and spin at times, and at times they can see flickers of the other school in front of them before it disappears.
Patches of shadows will begin to appear around the entire right wing of all floors, including the locker area including the rooftop. Throughout the month the areas in which they appear will continue to expand, beginning to encompass pieces of the left wing. They appear at random at times, suddenly below ones feet, and those who can see that the floor has disappeared will find themselves falling - further and further until it suddenly stops, and they find themselves right back where they started.
Curiously, those who cannot see do not suffer from these effects. Instead, they may notice the biting cold more prominently, or hear and feel the loud sound of rotten and and broken floorboards beneath their feet in the school and barren landscaping outside. The school supplies they hold might seem to have fallen apart, the walls feel as though a fire has burnt them up and rotted them out. But it always disappears within moments - a few seconds, a trace of their hand.
In the forest, stairs appear here and there. If one chooses to walk up them, they seem to go to no where, and if they continue on long enough they'll find themselves somewhere else entirely - most off in the Mirror Room or Summoning room, but occasionally it might be a classroom or somewhere else entirely. The void will have an inverse effect, showing bits and pieces of the normal school, and if characters aren't careful they wall onto what they think is solid ground only to start falling into the true void.
Mirrors show different scenes from time to time. They may see empty scenery from back home, an older version of the school, or otherwise of the other school. If one turns their back on a mirror, they may find that something will reach out and try to grab them. These are easily shaken off, but they will be pulled against the mirror until it shatters or their body is crushed otherwise. It's as though reality itself were being eroded at by some unknown force.
Nagito Komaeda is more susceptible to the above effects, and they are more likely to occur in his presence. It's probably just his luck.
Nene Yashiro will be less susceptible to the above effects, and find that the shadow students tend to avoid her. However, she may find herself feeling ill, or struggling to recall things. At times it seems as though something is eating away at her memory, replaced by a strong enter the void. This effect is temporary.

Hinata Hajime's body will be found in the mirror room resting in front of the mirror. He looks peaceful, as though he were merely sleeping. The mirror in front of him has shattered. There is blood on the glass fragments. There are no signs of malpractice, but until the body anyone with supernatural sight will be able to see a group of shadow figures in a loose circle around him. Passing through one will leave them cold and numb, but they will not intervene with efforts to take the body. Those who visit the void on or after this date may think they see him int he void, but the sight flickers out to reveal it to be one of the shadow figures. The closer one was to Hinata, the more likely this is to occur.

✽ Desecration of the body will not be allowed. Hinata's player was kind enough to allow use of their character to progress the plot, so please be respectful.
✽ The shadowy figures will appear more frequently where there is blood, fresh or otherwise, and/or mirrors.
✽ As with last month, characters who are isolated will find that they are more susceptible to being followed by the figures, and it may take longer interactions to dispel them completely.
✽ Items from the student shop that ward off supernatural creatures will aide in keeping the shadows from getting too close at first, but their effectiveness will wear off the longer a character is followed. They have a stacking effect.
✽ The counselor is only available to discuss contracts and possible deals this month. He seems to be in deep thought about something during discussions.
✽ Students will notice rumors are spreading more frequently, both about the school and player characters.
✽ Please stay tuned for additional updates toward the end of the month.

[Throughout the month, Inaba is definitely looking... not great. There are bags under her eyes and bags under her bags, too. What probably doesn't help is how she's actively trying to keep herself up with caffeine.
Which, of course, doesn't work out.
People will definitely notice that given Inaba tendency to isolate, the shadowy figures tend to follow her. She's just actively glad that she doesn't have to deal with the whispers anymore - not that it really bothered her compared to some of the other things - but the rest of it? Absolutely sucks.
It sucks a lot when combined with other stressors.
Of course, this continues to happen on and off throughout the month. To the point where sometimes she falls on her knees, or has to use the wall to barely keep herself up.]
↳ option two.
[At some point on the 8th, people will notice that Inaba seems to be overhearing a conversation in one of the hallways from some of the other students, who seem to be gossipping about the deaths of the previous years.
Those who decide to overhear this conversation might hear the names of both Maya and Hiro, but then, this conversation is heard--
"And did you hear what happened to Inaba-san? Oh, that was awful!"
"I know! So scary..."
"Well, she's back now, right?
"Yeah, but..."
And those who see how she acts 'normally' might see something completely different: a 180, as she tries to approach the group with a plastered, practiced smile on her face and a voice that is much more high pitched and optimistic than usual.]
Hi! Excuse me, but you weren't talking about me, were you--
[She's then cut off with apologies before they go off to do their own thing and she sighs, letting out a heavy sigh, her tone becoming much more clipped.]
What a pain in the ass. How am I supposed to get info off of people even when I'm trying. [Inaba clicks her tongue in annoyance.] Maybe I really have to do that. I didn't want to resort to it, but... guess I'll have to at least talk to both of them...
[If she notices someone, she puts her hands up apologetically.]
Ahaha, you didn't hear all that, did you?
↳ option three.
[The next day, if someone finds Inaba at her locker, she finds a piece of paper stuck on it. And that's enough to cause her to pause.
She certainly didn't do this, so who...?
And while she sees eventually her own name, crossed out amongst the many unfamiliar names, she can't help but feel her hands trembling, almost to the point where it feels like she might rip the paper apart. But she manages not to, at least.]
What the hell.
[Those are the only three words she can manage right now. She has no energy for this.]
↳ option wildcard.
[Want to play something completely different from the above? Feel free to plot with me at
tsundereban or on Discord at Len#9692! I also obviously have my plotting post here. I always welcome tagging into multiple prompts and threads, so come at me.
Also I am 100% down for rumors with Inaba as always, feel free to ask if you're unsure about any sort of rumor. I want silly rumor shenanigans.]

leaving the nurse's office with one or two medical supplies is normal now. he has to visit the young girl from computer science, and then helena adams right after, and while he could visit shin next— he's ruining his life on his own, and so midori will leave him to that for a moment.
he'll take a different road today as he walks around the school since inaba doesn't really stray from here. with a bottle in hand, he has a folded sheet of paper with what each pill inside does (which is a cute assortment!), and when he finds her, it's... not what he expects.
her engaging with people? they scamper off however, midori meeting one of the individual's eyes as they run off.

carefully, Helena eases herself up, and uses the wheelchair to lower herself down to their level, to sit down and put a hand on their back. still warm, and she can feel an in and out of breathing, so it's not a corpse she's come across. it'd be one thing to leave and find help but...she shivers, feeling another strange spike of cold that seems to go right through her, before vanishing as quickly as it came. something's wrong with the school right now, and so it doesn't feel right to leave someone alone.

... Huh? Oh... Yeah, but you don't need to worry about it. They're always gossiping like that.
[ Who? Well, all of them, of course. The transfers solve murders, but for as much as they might detest those who are outed, the natives have almost become numb to it. It's a part of the school, a part of their normal school life. It's far stranger that a person would put them into stasis, or fake their deaths to keep them from dying. They all revive in the end anyway.
Inaba had revived too. ]
Um... You're not planning on doing anything reckless, are you?

[It's never unusual to see Noah pouring over the pages of a spellbook — that's essentially how he learnt celestial magic while Clamor was gone, and how he's continued to learn it since their spirit contract was created. No, he won't be this dedicated to mathematics, stop asking.
For the past week or so, he's been pouring over the pages of a different spellbook, one with a much less sticky-noted appearance overall. Some may recall Noah explaining it as his brother Harque's spellbook, one he's still not quite sure how it ended up here, but he has it. Has had it, rather. To be frank, he's read it cover to cover a million times, but he's never tried to learn anything out of it. "It's too complicated" or "he's not here to teach it to me" were most of his excuses.
And then Add died. And then Komaeda got injured and went into a coma. And now Noah's remembering yet again how many people he can't save — he has one healing spell under his belt, and it isn't very strong, probably wouldn't have been able to save Komaeda in the forest that day if he thinks about it. He's lucky to have had that healing potion, but now he doesn't have that as a fallback.
And Harque, well, Harque was a healer. A great one! So great at healing that he was a candidate to become one of the El Masters, and... well.
One thought leads to another thought that spirals out of control, and Noah spends several nights when the moon is at its brightest trying to master moon magic. Without a proper teacher, it takes him a while to even conjure the smallest spark of glowing white magic, and when he does, it's late at night in the dorm study hall — the littlest wisp appears and fades almost as quickly as it came, and Noah looks excited, elated—
then, his face contorts in pain. What the hell? Is healing magic supposed to hurt to cast? To him, that says that he's done something wrong. None of his other magic stings.
...
He tries again. Again, and again, but each time he successfully does the smallest thing, it still hurts, even if the method is slightly changed each time. By morning, Noah will be zonked out in the study hall, Harque's spellbook slightly in front of where his head is hidden away in his arms.]
☽ Hurt
cw: self-harm but for science
[By the 10th, Noah has a tiny grasp on healing magic, not the one weak spell he has from his celestial magic but actual healing magic from the moon itself. He notes that it's a bit stronger the fuller the moon is, which... of course it is, why does that make so much sense? That, and it's a bit of an inconvenience. Still, he feels like he has to strain himself less and less as time goes on, so either practice makes perfect or the moon itself is guiding his hand or both.
It still hurts to use, though. The pain doesn't lessen with experience. Noah's first thought isn't "clearly I'm incompatible with this type of magic", because no one ever taught him about magical incompatibility; his first thought is still "somewhere somehow I'm still doing this wrong". Unless... moon magic is supposed to hurt? But that doesn't make much sense, because as Noah recalls, Harque had the worst pain tolerance ever. Like, a headache would take him out of commission for a day.
Regardless of all of that, though, the best way to practice healing magic is to heal. Right? Which means injuries. Noah isn't going to just go seek out people with injuries because it's a little odd if he walks up and goes, "Hey, are you bleeding? I can help!" So instead, unfortunately...
You happen to come across Noah when he's in the dorm common room with a knife levelled over his left arm, and before you can so much as grab his right hand or shout at him for doing this shit again, he's already dragged the blade across his skin with a pained hitch in his breath. No blood spills to the floor, luckily, and Noah is rather quick to push his fingers over the open wound and let that glowing, white magic do its job. Afterwards, he holds his forearm up to the light and squints. No scar, no more pain (save for... the pain in his fingertips from using moon magic, it's fine), no more open wound...]
Oh, wow. [Moon magic sure is powerful. ...and then he notices you and turns bright red. Oh no. He's not trying to hurt himself again, he swears he's past this—] ...I'm just practicing moon magic. I'm not... um...
[Not smart. He's not smart, is what he should say.]
☽ Remorse
[In light of the fact that avoiding mirrors is the smart decision (one of those shadows grabbed him the other day and smashed his back against the wall trying to pull him into it, he assumes; he cussed it out, as edgy teenagers are wont to do), Noah has taken to both giving them a wide berth whenever he has to pass them by, and also washing his hands in the kitchen sink. Take that, ghosts, you won't get him!
By the 20th, though, he notices something odd going on when he goes to wash his hands — there's a thin line of faded, pale blue, faceted crystal running from the tip of his right pinky finger and down the side of his hand, stopping just before his wrist. For a moment, he thinks to himself that the most obvious answer here is that he must've dragged his hand through some paint and made this really cool pattern, but... no amount of furious scrubbing is getting rid of this. And, as he finds out when he touches the crystallization, it is indeed solid.
Today, when you walk into the kitchen, Noah isn't panicking over how he burnt pancakes or how he put too much seasoning on some meat by being inattentive. No, he's panicking over the fact that his hand is turning into a rock. Of course, as soon as he spots you, he turns red as he is wont to do and just... looks away. Everything is fine. He's not panicking a little bit. He doesn't have anxiety, you have anxiety.
The crystal vein sparkles in the light, especially under the water.
It's pretty easy to see that he's trying to hide it from your eyes until you take what you need from the kitchen and leave.]
☽ wildcard
[every month I bully Noah for fun. You may do so as well, or poke me at
If it's not obvious: Noah's crystallization is because he's not compatible with his new magic, so please bonk him if you figure it out ICly because he sure hasn't.]
guilt.
leaving the confinement of his supposed bedroom brings komaeds to check into the school, thinking that he can get something from the vending machine, or even check on the student store because it's been awhile since he's seen what profit was made in his absence. probably a lot, he tends to think people prefer someone meek like shin compared to komaeda who gambles from time to time.
that's where he's brought himself to, buying a bottle of water from the vending machine since he still feels out of breath, and dehydrated. he takes a small sip, looking at the bottle to read the contents to pass the time as he walks— it's when he turns the corner that he bumps into an unfamiliar book, but a familiar person behind it, and the water bottle is tossed up and turns, until it comes back down thanks to gravity and smacks komaeda against his head. the bottom of it sits against his hair, balanced on top as the ultimate exhales looking at the other. )

[ that's a new one if he's seen it, and he doesn't expect much from the students within yogen high. they're all too arrogant, too incompetent to push themselves to learn new things and take advantage if their skill set. he can admire work in the medical field, and to see that part of his arm healed with nary a scar catches midori's interest.

It's not really his place to intervene, having no expertise in the way of magic, but in the end it bothers him too much to ignore him passing out in the study room. He busies himself with different tasks instead. He's pulled away for Midori for further check ups and repairs, concerns himself with various projects, and searches for answers to unresolved questions. As long as he keeps moving forward, as long as he tells himself there's more than this, then he can keep his mind from wandering back to the events of the previous month. The encouragement and love that were only in his mind, the harsh words and the accusations of failure that make his chest hurt, the soothing and comforting tones that came at the end - but in the end, they all led to the same conclusion.
Following this compass is one such task, watching it point in different directions and spin in circles and pretend that there's a trunk full of treasure awaiting for him at the end. There's no, no more than paradise, but he has the sense that if he takes it apart he'll only break it, so he keeps looking to solve the mystery regardless.
It takes him to the roof today. He's paying attention well enough, but it takes him a little while to realize that he realizes what it's been trying to point him toward all this time. ]

The mirrors have been trying to grab at people lately, and so clearly the best course of action is to bring a friend to review the entire affair one more time.
More specifically, it becomes a sensible thing to do when a body is found. Ranger is crouched in front of it now, looking it over one more time from behind the colorful ice cream cone cfard. There's no signs of foul play, nor anything else that would suggest that the individual passed peacefully. But nor does Ranger believe that one of their own had committed a murder within the void. It is, in fact, hard to believe when one adds in all the other oddities present. ]
