[ It may not be so much that she's becoming a bad liar, but more that the guy he's talking to doesn't always have terrible intuition. A year or so of sparring with someone who can think as swiftly and speak confidently in most respects can hone that.

Especially when they're holding something back, even after all this time. ]

[ She's quiet.

For a good moment in time, she's quiet, unsure of what to say. She huffs slightly, folding her arms over her chest, tapping her foot ever so slightly. ]

Lately, there's been a heavy sense of deja vu in the air... I can't stand it.

[ She's correct-- he doesn't immediately understand why that's such a big deal to her. Miyuki's concerned, but more that something that seems annoying at best is upsetting Inaba to that extent. ]

I admit that it's odd, but I don't know if it's really cause for alarm.

[ Her voice cracks. She ducks her head, lowers her voice into something softer. ]

Maybe if it felt like one of those moments that you'd normally have. But this... it's incessant. Like I'm forgetting something important.

[ Fingers wrap around her pendant, fingers trembling. ]

It's stupid. I shouldn't feel this...

[ ...this scared, she doesn't finish. ]

[ That wouldn't be what she'd forgotten, but if it could swap bodies, regress ages, change so much...

Of course. It changing around memories wasn't too farfetched. He's quiet, trying to figure out how to proceed. After all, he can't pretend to know anything about her life, only what's been presented in front of her.

Maybe he can't comfort her, but... ]

I know you take notes all the time, but... have you kept a journal of what you do remember from home? I can't imagine you not holding onto even the small details if they're important.

[ In a rather exhausted tone - more mentally than physically: ]

Yeah. I've done that, before. But they could erase that, too. Memories, anything written, photos...

[ His second suggestion would've been to confide in someone else, but not only was that not feasible considering who he's talking to in the first place, but it wasn't as if anyone else's memory was safe. Obviously, telling the entire school behind the PDA would be even less ideal... with of course, records not lasting past the beginning of the school year anyway.]

I take it that it wouldn't be as easy as hiding it behind an encrypted file on your phone or a computer either.

[ So then... what else was there? It takes him a moment... before he comes up with literally anything. ]

In that case, the only thing you can do is trust your common sense. Piece together what memory makes sense and what doesn't based on everything else surrounding it.
