Spring break concludes and the school opens its doors to reveal a new building. Rooms have been added and expanded upon, club rooms moved out of classes, the final proof of it erased from existence, and now only it's memory remains. Even that will be forgotten for so long, and perhaps it's that thought which triggers the strong sense of deja vu that comes and goes, making one question how many times they've roamed these halls before, spoken with that person, completed this work.
The native students are more interested in the changes to the school. They familiarize themselves with the new layouts and assignments, discuss student council opening, and continue to gossip and spread rumors about everything from conspiracy theories to unexplained deaths. Characters may find themselves falling into step with the rumors spread about them. Transfer students may even find themselves wanting to create and repeat them.
Where it becomes unusual is that the rumors seem to be true. Transfer students may find themselves inclined to conform to behaviors that others have assigned to them over the past few months. But some of them seem to be more real, more tangible… Here are a few that are hot in Yogen High!
Aside from that, one can hear rumors about ritual games or superstitions like finding a black cat crossing your path bringing good luck or gifting a knife severing friendships.

Throughout the month the handicrafts club will be handing out friendship bracelets to those who come in pairs. They promise that as long as you’re wearing them, your friendship will last forever! But be careful if you break it, because your relationship will end and it’ll leave a permanent scar on your souls! Those who are subject to this rumor will find that they feel closer to their bracelet partner while wearing it, but that breaking it will make it painful to be near each other. The scar can be healed by fixing the bracelet.

There is a rumor that if you find the stairs in the forest you’ll disappear and never be seen again! The rumors vary, but all seem to agree that they're transported to another world. Those who venture up them will find themselves in a long corridor with numerous doors on both sides, spanning the entire length. One might hold nothing but ticking clock while the next is a veritable greenhouse with man eating plants, or a lagoon with mermaids that will drown you, a bedroom that ages you, or something far more mundane. If they don't return by dying first, a character will eventually find a door back to the school and find themselves standing in front of a mirror. A minimum of 24 hours will have passed since their departure.

Students might hear about the butterfly teacups in the kitchen that can be filled up with anything! A person can even pour in their hurt, sickness, and pains, but once it overflows all of the misery contained will spill out onto the person pouring into it! Characters will find that just being in the presence of the teacup is enough to be affected by it, but that it is quick to overflow and leave them ill, irritable, and depressed. The only way to cure their affliction is to have another person take it on by the sparkling clear liquid that fills it or pouring it onto them, or just to wait it out.

The student store has a sale on blank journals. There is a rumor that writing in them will allow one to regain lost memories or erase bad memories depending on the version. But unfortunately, it replaces your current memories with those of your previous student life instead. The only way to stop this transition is for a character to find find their anchor in the school – someone or something that keeps them grounded in the school.

There are rumors of students receiving a text message offering go grant them a wish. If a character responds with their wish, it will magically be granted! Unfortunately, it’s just an illusion - they might hallucinate being home, or hold rocks while believing them to be gold ingots. The only way to cure this is for a character to accept reality, but unfortunately, those under the influence of this rumor will not want to do so.
Aside from that, one can hear rumors about ritual games or superstitions like finding a black cat crossing your path bringing good luck or gifting a knife severing friendships.
06/01 - 06/30
The forest appears to be expanding, or rather more of it seems to have been uncovered. The more people explore it and venture into it, the more it becomes apparent that they were just scratching the surface of what's within it. Behind the pine trees lies a temperate forest filled with maple, walnut, and birch trees, shrubs and herbs. Mosses and bryophytes create a green carpet along the forest floor, the rich soil supporting a rich variety of flora and fungi, and a few small ponds scattered about.
The deer and butterflies are here, along with rodents and bugs – many of which seem to have mutated from their normal forms. Mixed in with their normal counterparts are butterflies and dragonflies tear into flesh while large moths h ave to many eyes, wasps unleash powerful paralytics while the animals that skitter about have warped features have too many features or not enough.
The deeper one goes in, the more the heavier the air grows and the more unsettling the forest becomes. There are patches of it trapped in different seasons, from fall to winter with the temperatures to match. Large shadows can be found creeping about, but by time one gets close they're already gone. Those with supernatural sight may see a shadow hanging from a tree, or the ghostly image of a figure passing through – but they're always too far away to make out.
Maybe there’s a reason the forest was sealed off for so long... But if you keep going, maybe you'll find something?

As a reminder, faculty & student council applications are open! Those interested will be expected to submit an application to the staff and go through with an interview, who will let them know that they will be in contact at a later date. Characters will be aware that the staff is solely responsible for choosing who is elected this year, making it much simpler than the previous years.

[Forest expansions are something Noah is keenly aware of, since he spends the majority of his time out there scouting. By the point it expands, he has a fairly solid little map he's drawn up in a notebook from his multiple excursions, but given that the forest is bigger now... he's gonna need more pages, he thinks.
Noah is Noah and that means he's used to long explorations, so he'll be gone for about a week. Don't worry, he brought supplies.
If you came with him, he doesn't expect you to stay the full week with him, and he's more than happy to walk you out of the forest once you're bored with camping. If you do intend to stay a week, welcome. You'll find that Noah sleeps in trees and that he's great at finding little alcoves where the weather bears down on you less to rest in. You'll also find that you're probably safe from anything that attacks you; Noah's quick to dispatch anything that strays too close with too much hostile intent. If you ask, he'll teach you how to skin and clean an animal so that you, too, may experience the joys of eating the biblically-accurate deer.
As soon as he exits the pine forest and makes it to the birch, though, Noah's excitement about exploration is renewed. He spends time foraging, and if you ask he will tell you all about what things you can and cannot eat in the forest. That's mostly everything because sometimes you just don't know what that mushroom does and it's a bad idea to test it out, but sometimes Noah finds something that is actually edible and useful and so he picks it and puts it in his bag. Sometimes when you take breaks, he'll sketch the surroundings, and though his backgrounds aren't as good as the cats he usually draws, he's still proud to show you graphite sketches of trees and mushrooms and the leaves against the sky.
When the forest gets creepy is when his mood shifts again. He's far less animated, since he can see the hanging shadows and see further shadows lingering. When he calls out to them and they don't respond, he frowns. Noah figures that would be the response, but... Still. The giant moths were way cooler.
Noah's on his fifth page of this map and at the top of the page, he writes "ghost forest" and that's just what he's going to call it for the time being. If you're with him up to this point, he'll ask,]

...Keigo will wait until a Sunday to ask Noah if he can go with them into the forest, comfortable enough amongst the trees themselves but still a little jumpy whenever the canopy gets too thick and blocks out the sun. They just want to see a biblically accurate deer... Noah can kill it while they close their eyes, that's fine, but they request that they get to study it for at least fifteen minutes before Noah goes hunting. ]

Still, it's good to see him, and he's visibly happy about this. CAMPING TIIIME
she has everything she thinks she'll need based on some books that vaguely note important supplies like non-perishable foods and water, and she won't be wearing her sunday best because she doesn't want to tear gift clothes, and she is so excited.
kaede will be a little less excited when they have to kill a deer but for now she's watching noah set up his sleeping arrangements in a tree and realizing she's never had to climb a tree before.
we're not gonna think about school right now this is more important learning as she's valiantly going to attempt to climb a tree to sleep in and end up on her butt for her troubles.]

[Sleeping in trees is comfier than sleeping on the ground, in Noah's opinion, and it also gives him a vantage point to see anything that might try to come after them too. He's a pretty light sleeper, so the slightest rustling will wake him up.]

Things like knots in trees or little holes where you can grip. Think of it... um, like a rock climbing wall, I guess. It helps to put more pressure on the balls of your feet for extra grip, too.
[Noah starts pointing out places to grip on the bark, areas that are good to dig nails into and spaces that Kaede can put her feet while she tries to climb higher. He'll still help push her up if she needs it, though; pulling up one's own weight can be hard.]

rock climbing........... is also something she has never done, but she's seen a wall! she gets the concept of it! and as noah points out the spaces she can, kaede starts to see a path up.
and up she will go, with noah's help when she starts to slip a little; her grip is incredible, but her upper body strength is otherwise lacking. so she won't fall, but she won't climb easy either. eventually, though, she can tuck herself into the branch the way she saw noah do.]

Despite the fact that he's pretty sure he just heard a branch snap somewhere off in the distance, he doesn't see anything yet. This bodes incredibly well, doesn't it? Cautiously, Noah's eyes flick to Kaede again, silently asking if she spots anything from her high perch.

That said, he's not a fan of the atmosphere of the deeper parts of it. The shadows are unsettling, and if he didn't know better he'd almost say that it was a warning. Whether it be from a hanging tree or a tree of sorrows or one of the many other terms such things can go by, the only good man is a dead man swinging. For centuries they were just a public spectacle, fun for the whole family, and all the ones known have some urban legend behind them or another.
He supposes that would be one way to deal with murderers here, albeit they perhaps have a few too many from softer worlds for that to work now. Those aren't thoughts he sees fit to voice, instead finding himself likewise thinking that the moths and assorted game were far cooler. When questioned, he nods. ]

[The first time he'd ever tried to map it, it was something of an impossibility — the way the forest looped back in on itself at points that Noah couldn't exactly tell when the old forest ended and the loop began, so to speak. This is much easier to map out, but clearly a much bigger space.]
Whenever we... whenever we find something new like this, I always wonder what we did to earn them, I guess. What did we all do to make the forest expand? What'd we do to finally get to have the pool building? Stuff like that... I don't get it.
