Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

( in a way, yeah. taken by the future foundation so they ended up in a better place, but monaca was stuck with komaeda where he was going to turn her into the next junko...

now she's a teenage girl who hates despair because komaeda was annoying about it, and wants to die in her monokuma van eating snacks. )

...To love someone like that, without knowing how much hope they have is frightening. I don't know how you do it.

( to love someone who lacks hope... komaeda could never, buy he loves hope in general. it's kind of unfair, but hope has never done him wrong. )

But that means you can never give up on that...

[ Loving things, people, maybe it's a little scary because of the whole uncertainty of it, the vulnerability, the bias, but when the other person doesn't even know? There's nothing safer than that. ]

Ugly people are so despairing, I can't handle it.

( the way i was going to write something genuine about maybe his claustrophobia, and then i looked at his dislikes, and saw ugly people and started cracking up. this is the hill he's going to die on today, and he even sighs a bit too dramatically about it... )

I don't love based on looks, I like pretty people... but... ugly people make living tedious.

( his loves has always been hope, and as long as npc-kun has hope... which komaeda's going to reach out and pinch their cheeks because they're close enough. )

Ugly people can be rich too, but preferences are preferences. npc-kun doesn't even talk to people half the time to need to look at their faces, I keep imagining this default icon of them speaking out loud to the general space around whoever's in front of them and only making eye contact if they need something. ]

( there's a lot going on here. the other wants to be loved by him, not want komaeda to be scared of them, and he even thinks if rokkun was here right now, and not on break... maybe the other would feel better. well, komaeda doesn't understand the love between family, it's not like he even has one... to call his own. well, he has the "family" here that he vaguely remembers in his yogen life, but he knows better than to rely on something that doesn't really exist. )

( you know, like normal people who want to have day offs, and let someone else cover their shift. do they trust komaeda enough to do that?

ok same, i wish komaeda wasn't all over the place. having to remember the pace of these threads... maybe npc-kun kicks him out, and is finally freed from this 400+ thread. )

I'm not always... [ here, but yes they are ] ...working. Like at night when most people are asleep, I can too. If I needed a break, I'd close the shop for a bit.

That's not the same as a day off, especially if you'll let me work in your spot... it sounds fun, having that responsibility.

( as if komaeda's responsible, but it depends on what he's doing, and how he's going about it. he does what he wants, and not what other people tell him, so he could do a good job manning the store if he's not told to man the store. )

I didn't know you stayed after hours, doesn't it get lonely? You can't talk to anyone... ( can't see him frown if npc-kun can't see his face. ) Well, I guess there's a weird noise outside, but I only heard it once.

Hm... that's an interesting way to ask me if the wind was howling.

( komaeda stayed with the white cat a lot when he was dissociating, so he understands having at least someone or something near by to calm the nerves. everything revolves around the inside of this school, but there's also... )

What about the spiders in one classroom, have you seen those? We even have rats...

( but one died, so that was sad... at least the offspring is okay. )

I've seen them, but I don't want one as a pet. I'm no good with living things, and pets are expensive.

Don't worry, someone will take care of you, and then you can have pets, and living things to care for as well.

[ They've got a JOB which is better than almost all kids their age, on the account of children not being allowed to have jobs. ]

[ Why is he crawling, please. npc-kun at least stands up to help Komaeda pick up his things, also so they can be nosy about his things. What are some popular things students want? This is market research. ]

Don't be so pessimistic, or there won't be... there's always someone.

( he's crawling because he's always on the floor, but he'll settle on his knees as he doesn't pay attention to what npc-kun is going through.

he has potpourri, a gas mask, a log, a jacket, i can't remember what else he has... it's miscellaneous items with unorthodox reasonings. nothing that npc-kun could base off for the rest of the group because komaeda is insane... aside from what's on komaeda like the hacking gun and cat treats that's interesting — he probably comes off rather boring. )

The rest of Komaeda's words make them fall silent, though, under the pretense of smelling the potpourri like they're trying to figure out what's in it.

They pick up the gas mask and tries it on. ]

( it's an aromatic blend of ripened flowers, herbs, and fruit skins. the rumor is that a person will enjoy the smell for one hundred years after whiffing it... something well-liked by komaeda, but he will be watching because it's a gift... )

( as for the gas mask, it covers the entirety of npc-kun's face, a filter on both side of the mask, and in the middle is a valve that opens when they exhale, and closes when they inhale. their eyes can be seen through the protector of the item, it's only a little dark, but komaeda can make them out perfectly as they wear it.

he'll get up from where he is, lifting his hands to clip the straps on properly, tightening it so that they don't come off, and remains on npc-kun's face. )

Is it comfortable? This sure does bring back memories...
