Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

[ Oh I didn't know those spiky things had a name, they were all over the park where I grew up, are those edible... ]

Gum balls... I bet I could get some, but not until tomorrow. Today, let's just use what we have at our disposal, like coconut milk and... walnuts. And cinnamon.

( me, i'm crying, i thought they just existed to get on my nerves honestly... i don't know... but komaeda put acorns on a cake and tried to feed it to hinata.. so it's fine.

all the food he makes is inedible with very nonsensical ingredients (for example, in 2014's christmas tweet, he is asked to make bûche de noël, but instead, he makes some sort of cake out of nothing but whipped cream and pinecones).

so it's fine, he'd probably still eat ... the gumballs. )

...I'm not interested in sweet things.

( please, he'll throw up blood like this... )

What about... something bitter, too?

[ please, coconuts and walnuts are subtle sweet and cinnamon is there because it smells nice and they felt that a two ingredient drink looks lazy. Bitter, though... ]

Like goya?

[ ugh... just imagining the taste makes them wrinkle their nose and shudder. Goya with chili, garlic, soy sauce, black beans... The first bite is delicious and all subsequent bites make them want to cry.

But they're not the one drinking this, so it's fine. ]

They probably have that here.

I actually like salty flavors compared to sweet, but bitter isn't bad... so yes, that would be fine.

( this will be elizabeth's beverage that they will name after her, and npc-kun will sell it, that's what this is about. she'll be the judge of this, because i'm pretty sure komaeda would do the little cinnamon challenge and just choke, so don't have it near him. )

You have to make it blue, or it won't count.

( as if npc-kun knows what's going on in komaeda's head, and it's actually nothing, but he'll keep following them until they make it to the home ec area. )

[ Blue... It had to be the most unnatural food color, huh? But there's going to be food coloring if people bake in here, and while they think blue would eradicate any chance of anything looking appetizing, this is going to be a drink so appearances don't matter. ]

Okay.

[ They go to the kitchen and start looking for ingredients. Goya... chili... garlic, soy sauce, black beans... cooking oil, a frying pan... a checkered red and white apron with apple pockets, because you can't cook if you don't look cute. ]

[commences]

( not the apple pocket apron that has the slippers with the fur (the fur!).

he's going to find a chair to sit down at, taking a seat, and crossing his legs as he watches npc-kun dress up, they must take this seriously. like a fantasy life, and it's quite surprising considering he's used to seeing them behind a counter, dead-eyed on cash and nothing else. )

Lard would be a good substance to mix it, it'll be thick... like a smoothie.

( and he says this genuinely, because he's done this before. )

It would melt in the heat and not be so thick. But I can use some in place of the oil, to add a little more flavor.

[ A little stepstool dragged in front of the stove so they can be taller and avoid the stiff shoulders they'd otherwise get with the constant mixing.

Because yeah, they're making stir fry. Which is going to go in a blender with juice pressed out of some extra goya and a few drops of blue food coloring until it's passably blue and not green-brown. A couple of fermented black beans get sprinkled on top to be fancy, like how coffee drinks sometimes have those coffee beans, but also because Komaeda said he likes salty things and these are pretty salty on their own.

Essentially it's ugly blue soup. ]

Would it? It's been awhile... or was it reduced fat...

( he's trying to think back to when he made a smoothie before, and he thought it was pretty decent for the kids to drink, even though — he, himself — didn't want anything to do with it. it'd take his stomach feel fool, and it was already slimy that it slide down his throat ever so easily when he decided to drink it anyway. he was their servant after all, and remembering that makes him smile, despite a shiver rolling down his spine. )

Do you need me to get you anything?

( he noticed the stool, and he's taller than npc-kun so... )

No. I don't need your help.

[ Please, don't insult them, they're an Arata and since when do Aratas ask for help unless they're facing imminent death. ]

Just sit.

[commences]

( that's an arata fact he knows all too well, but height changes everything sometimes!! he watches npc-kun for a few more seconds before standing up from where he was sitting, and looking around for something to get in.

making his move towards the exit, he pokes his head out to look towards the sewing club.

they'd have pretty decent towels.. )

[ They do have decent... fabric that can be used as towels.

npc-kun looks over when they hear the door open and close, and then goes back to cooking. Eating some of the fermented black beans while they wait. I don't know how cooking works or how long it takes, it's just happening. ]

[commences]

( don't ask me how to cook anything, because if it's not going in the microwave... i'm useless. give komeda ten minutes to come back with some clothes he found, maybe a few half made blankets made by the sewing club or something. they're somebodies, and he doesn't really care who they belong to because they should have... took them home over break if they wanted them that badly.

he does have a few fabrics in hand, walking over to where npc-kun is kicking to wipe the tape of anything that might stain the counter. komaeda doesn't like his stations messy if he can help it — his clean freak agenda shows on different days. )

I found enough for the both of us.

( he's smiling. very proud of himself, and ignoring the smell of whatever the hell it is in that pan. )

[ Komaeda stealing the WIPs AT LEAST TAKE THE FINISHED ONES

and it's a good smell, okay, I've eaten this once and the first bite was delicious and all subsequent bites were bitter suffering ]

...Wash cloths? Good, you can wash the pots and pans.

[ He can help by doing the dishes, this is acceptable ]

( the hope that's made from people who thought they'd come back to finish and find them gone, they'll have to get over such a despairing incident to move on!!

that means they need a really small bowl, so they can have only one bite to really enjoy it, like how people eat that on ebite of caviar and call it a day. )

...Oh, yes, I can do that.

( he sounds almost excited to do it, actually, which he's rushing over to the sink to turn on the... do high classes still get the okay looking water, does this water look like water.

hope there's already messy pots, because half of these students can't even take care of themselves. ) Although, last time I helped... I bled over everything, are you sure?

[ The water looks okay, but only looks. npc-kun turns back to their cooking to make sure nothing burns, even though it would be okay if it burned, because Komaeda likes bitter things. ]

Isn't that fine? There's water right there.

[ He drops a plate and bleeds in the sink, the water washes it away, no harm done ]

[commences]

( that's reassuring, why is it messing with their field of vision. )

You'll have to eat off of it, I don't let anyone drink my blood...

( and he's serious, komaeda's blood is a luxury, you know? but he's already sliding a few dishes that's sitting on the side into the sink, allowing the water to run. )

[adsum]

[ That is a very universal sentiment that is very strange to say out loud ]

I don't want to drink your blood. That's gross.

[commences]

( preparing npc-kun for the real world where people out there aren't normal, i think he deserves a reward for this. )

That's why... I'm concerned about doing this, ah well, what's the worst that could happen?

( he says that, reaching out for one glass plate, but his elbow knocks against a cup, it teetering off the table, tilting over, but he's quick enough to catch it before it drops. his mechanical hand wrapping around the circumference of it, but because of his grip... he squeezes too hard that it cracks, glass shattering onto the floor. )

[ ...

npc-kun stares at the mess, but they're busy and turn back to the pan. There's a dustpan somewhere under the sink. Komaeda is a big kid, he can take care of it himself. ]

[commences]

( going to act like he didn't do it, and keep it there for now. he will drop a blanket over the glass for now, hiding his mess as he goes back to cleaning the dishes that haven't broken. )

...

( if he doesn't acknowledge it, it's not there. )

[adsum]

[ Yeah, it didn't happen. Once they're done here, they're going back to their store and never coming out again, nobody can blame it on the good honest shopkeeper who never leaves their post. ]

[commences]

( it doesn't last though, because komaeda keeps looking towards the spot on the floor.

it's bothering him.

now he's peeking around in cabinets for a dust pan, and once he finds it, he'll walk over to the mess he made. remember, the water is still running in the sink...

as he squats down, he picks up the blanket, and then tries to pick up the glass one by one. )

[ It's fine... Komaeda is an adult...... npc-kun is still young enough to have faith in adults.........

at least use the brush that comes with the dust pan!!! npc-kun does not say, because they're busy cooking and does not interfere even if the sink overflows or Komaeda slices all his fingers open. ]

( he is... he's not a failure in this, he just... he's focusing, and you never know... maybe the floor needs a nice wash? )

Could you figure out which sister tells lies?

( just randomly, unprovoked, and a question posed towards npc-kun. he stands up, walking towards the trashcan nearby to dump when he picked up, and then walks back to the sink an inch from overflowing. he looks at the pool of liquid, seeing his reflection, before turning it off so he can let most of it go down the drain. )

[ No, they have no idea what Komaeda's talking about, but they do pause in their stirring to watch him save the room from flooding. Maybe he plans to soak the pot— no, he's draining the water. ]
