MINI-EVENT DISCUSSION TIME [open]
WHO: Everyone!!
WHEN: April 25th, 6PM
WHAT: Who wants to talk about ~murder~?
[There's a strong part of Kokichi that wants to keep everything he's figured out to himself, especially knowing the "winner" of this mystery will gain a ton of bonus points that could throw a serious wrench into his plans. He tends to work alone, after all.
But fortunately, there's a louder, more pragmatic part that knows everyone needs to come together. Whatever the game is here, no rules have been given. It doesn't seem like they're gonna force everyone together to figure things out. And maybe that's the point – no forced teamwork this time around, a prize to discourage people from working together. This whole setup seems designed to have them all working against each other.
Well, fuck that. The status quo is just gonna get more people killed. It's time to herd some cats and get everyone on the same page. If nothing else, it's a way to learn anything others might have figured out, and a chance to see who here has a working brain.]
--–
[Every transfer student will find an unsigned note in their lockers that reads "transfer students meeting @ 6pm 4/25 in classroom 2-C".
When they arrive at the set location and time, they'll find extra desks have been shoved in from other classrooms so there's seating for everyone. On the chalkboard, written in big bubble letters, is "SUPER FUN MURDER DISCUSSION PARTY TIME!!" with some goofy doodles around the edges. This is very serious, guys. One corner of the room has a square taped off on the floor with a single desk situated inside it, a sign taped to it reading "Crazy Containment Zone". A piece of paper on the desk says "reserved for Komaeda".
No one takes credit for organizing everything. But regardless, it's time to have a discussion.]
((HOW THIS WORKS:
- This post is a free for all! Feel free to start your own threads to discuss any clue/topic/theory/random outburst you want. Jump into any thread anywhere, no need to keep things tidy and continuous. This is gonna be a big group crammed into a classroom all talking at once, so just embrace the chaos.
- Please let the people who discovered clues OOCly be the ones to reveal them ICly! You can assume things have already been explained for the sake of discussing other clues and proposing theories and whatnot, just please don't steal anyone's thunder when it comes to explaining the things their characters figured out!
That's it! Let me know if you have any other concerns or guidelines to consider adding, just shoot me a PM or hit me up on plurk or discord! Have fun!))

art room clue discussion! i guess
[ Naturally, Saihara's brought everything he's been using as evidence with him, and even has notes on the things that couldn't be brought. So it isn't too difficult for him to produce the piece of fabric from his pocket, which matches with the tear anyone who's looked at the body later than the 16th might recognize on her skirt. ]
When Komaeda-kun and I looked that night, we found this. It turned out to have been Phthalocyanine Blue from the art room. Okane-san was a member of the club, and according to the other members... she was working on a painting that made heavy use of blues...
[ But what does it mean if the paint was on her clothes...? He'll let people speculate and ask further questions first.
Additionally: ]
There was also an empty cabinet in the room. Okane-san had been working on cleaning it of aging supplies, but the other club members didn't seem to know she had finished. The cabinet has a red stain in the back, but... I couldn't find evidence that it's blood. It only smelled like acrylic paint.

... Wait, since when do any of the weird kids stay at night? How could she have even known what that looked like?

( he's a little offended! he's not cuckoo! )
Aside from that, we don't believe there's much symbolism behind the painting.

[ Plus, the time interval is from 6AM to 6PM and depending on the season it might still be dark at those hours, on some days. She was a third-year, she must have seen it through different seasons. ]

( alright, you know he likes to tease, but moving on. )
I'm validating what he's saying. That room was suspicious, but having the Ultimate Detective there, nothing was kept secret from him! Keep up the good work, Saihara-kun.

Komaeda-kun was with me throughout that entire night. I think we shared most of the things we noticed, but... He should have all of the same details about our investigation.
[ time to rat him out if he's gonna be like this. ]
no subject
( wow, you really going to do him like this. )
I'll take questions if it's too much for him, but I am concerned for his hope if it's flailing...
no subject
[ But this is also not the time to be arguing about that. ]
And besides... information is only useful up to a point if you don't share it, Komaeda-kun.
no subject
( the boys are FIGHTING. but, he's being civil unlike some people. )
That's why I was with you, Saihara-kun, you have so much to work with. Trash like me shouldn't get in the way of your talent.
no subject
...No, I'm not wrong. Because you can't call it getting in the way if you do what I asked you to.
If as much of this is my choice as you say... then you should answer when people ask you, right? Because that's what I want.

[Just in case anyone isn't already aware of Shuichi's title. Mr. Introvert over here might not be bragging about it, but Kokichi is happy to shove him into the spotlight.
Anyway. Sounds like a good opportunity to narrow down some "where" and "when".]
Soooo she had a paint stain on her? Does that mean she was at art club just before being killed? Or maybe she was just a slob?
no subject
You're right, Ouma-kun! The Ultimate Detective's good at what he does! I never met one in person, but this is my luck since I got to be with him all night.
( sure, komaeda may not know saihara like the other does, but he feels like as long as there's talent, there's hope and there's a bond weaved between them all. )
Getting paint on you doesn't make you a slob, skilled artists are very messy! Well, not like I know anything about art. ( sighs, but he's smiling. ) What our very detective managed to figure out.. she was in a rush! Even someone as lackluster as me wouldn't have figured that out, I was too busy digging in the trashcans.. but luckily.. having the Ultimate Detective makes things so much easier!
no subject
[Anyway, back to the topic at hand...]
In a rush... Does that mean she left the art room to go somewhere?
no subject
[ --what he's trying to say.
Damn it, he almost fell into Ouma's games, but it doesn't matter right now. Never mind, he and Komaeda can keep saying weird things if they want. He's just going to focus on the discussion. ]
There's no way of telling for certain, but... we found some of the papers the club members use to protect the floor. One of the two with a matching blue stain was torn up, as if someone ran off after standing on it. Furthermore... the stain wasn't anywhere near the rest, so they might have stood in one spot with the brush for a while.
no subject
[Oh look, he's actually helping.]
But where did she go from the art room...?
no subject
[ As the student council president, it isn't too difficult to imagine she'd have to go. ]
But according to the librarian's account Clamor-san gave us, she was already in the library at the time. So then... when was she painting? And what interrupted her...?

There isn't any red paint in the art ROOM. ( ...yeah, that's what's wrong here. there's distinctly no red. ) I suppose if it's in the BACK, then it could be from a time when they did keep red paint on-HAND...
( ........... )
Or it could be a way to mark a secret passAGE. I did something similar with pentagrams at my old school to indicate where the hidden tunnels WERE. ( because every school just has those )
no subject
[ You know what? He isn't even gonna question this, he has weirdos in his own school and he's literally watched whole-ass walls collapse before because he put a stone in a statue's eye. Natsume gets a free pass. ]
But... the lack of red paint bothers me too. I suppose we can't know if there was any in the old supplies that Okane-san disposed of... It's just... the details don't add up. Even the positioning of the stain would have made more sense if it wasn't paint.
[ Does Natsume know a way to make blood smell like paint. ]
no subject
That's why I was wondering if it could have been a mark for a secret pasSAGE. It's an odd placement for PAINT. ( ...hmmmm. ) And as far as I'm aWARE, there's not exactly a way to make blood smell like PAINT. Paint's distinctive smell is from a combination of chemiCALS... That aSIDE, it doesn't really have that strong of one after it's DRIED.
( hm-mmm. )
Perhaps the lack-of red paint is something to question the art club aBOUT, or some of the other students in geneRAL.
no subject
Of course, questioning the students could also end up fruitful as well.
no subject
( ☆ he is a nerd he will not agree to extraneous physical activity ☆ )
But I am good with peoPLE. I don't mind asking them anything that hasn't already been asked aBOUT.
