✽ Silence lifts at six in the morning, and there is still quite a bit of time before classes start. Early risers who decide to return to school from the dorms cross the courtyard and open the double doors and—- something cold and wet drips down onto their head: old blood from the torso of a student(?) bound by rope and strung up above the doors to the courtyard, body burned black and cut in half at the waist.
✽ The air is heavy, and the entire school smells of blood.

( he kind of... looks at inaba for a moment, as if the tone isn't quite what he'd expected, but after a slow blink he'll turn his attention back to rika instead. )

Right, looks like you know what I want to do then. Thanks.

( his own voice turns similarly cold in response, but he'll lean down to scoop her body up, princess style, to hold to his chest, glancing around the hall. )

[The way he looks at her makes her expression shift into something a little more quizzical--but it's only for a moment as she watches Rika's corpse--yeah, corpse, she hates that word--but sighs, something heavy and deep.]

Well, if you did something that is worse than what's already happened to them...

[She'd be concerned.]

[sisters]

3-B, right? I think I've seen you around, but it hasn't been long since you got here, huh.

( he pauses, raising a brow. )

Do you even know who these two are?

[dereban]

Hasn't been long since I returned--

[She corrects, her voice a little unsteady.]

I knew Saihara more and didn't talk to... Kawai, I think her name was - that much. I wasn't horribly close to either of them in particular, though.

[She wasn't really close to anyone at all, to be honest.]

[sisters]

Right, I got it. At least you know their names.

( more than he'd expected out of her, to be honest, but the smile that spreads across his lips is still dry and bitter nonetheless. he glances down to the body he holds close in his arms — delicately, like something precious. has to swallow hard and brace himself before he speaks, making sure his voice stays even despite the circumstances. )

This is Rika Kawai, my roommate.

( roommate... is probably fine, now. lingering for a moment, he tilts his head towards the other body next. )

Shuichi Saihara is... a good friend of mine. I knew him before we came to this place.

[dereban]

I see.

[She shifts uneasily from one foot to the next, unsure of what to say; her gaze lowers a little bit before she continues to speak.]

... I'm sorry.

[sisters]

You couldn't have known.

( and maybe it was a little cruel of him to act as though he'd expected her to, but... the truth is that it had felt similarly cruel to him for her to imply otherwise, intentionally or not. that, given the situation, he isn't in the mood to be so patient with others as he might usually try to be. his smile drops, and he pulls himself back to his feet with a sigh, looking to inaba again. )

Anyway, I'd like to be the one to look after their bodies after this. I hope you understand.

[dereban]

Seeing as they're important to you... I get it.

[Her voice is a lot less tense than she'd normally push out; a strange calmness and distance, but not overtly rude, either.]

It'd be better to have someone look after them since I'll have to check out the classrooms, anyway.

[sisters]

Thanks. Let me know if you find anything, yeah?

( for now, he'll focus on setting rika down to the side of the hall, turning his attention to saihara so that he can be moved too. )
