( WHERE IS THE DOG? WHY IS THEY ON ONCOMING TRAFFIC? which is almost komaeda's natural habitat, anyway, he's not too worried about the ongoing traffic — instead, he's getting up from the ground so that he can pick a car for them to hitch-hike, but rather than being on the side of the road, he's waving his arms up like a "y", waving them to get the attention of the oncoming car — the toyota corolla — which is probably trying to get to their job. who knows! now it's not every day you see some random person in the stress with a manacle around their neck and a chain —

this is straight out of a scary movie, and the toyota takes a quick turn left which komaeda thinks they're gong to park so there's still a smile, but once it crashes into the crane truck with an already elevated boom that as a weight ball attached, he can hear the sound of metal colliding into one another, and the weighted ball knock right into the building that's being worked on. a skyscraper or something like that, lots and lots of glass shatter at once, falling down from the sky like unsafety rain, but the support of the building breaks, causing it to tilt towards the road —

yeah, komaeda's just going to walk over to knock on the glass of the car despite the road rage — the honking from all sides, the sound of screeching — that's happening around them. he even ignores the leaning building until it comes crashing onto the road, and the monster truck that almost ran over hikaru (whatever other car might have been in the vicinity) — debris and metal flies into the air, scattering all over the ground like a scene out of final destination, and hopefully it'll cut the highway in half so that the cars can't drive to the other side because this fucked up building is in the way, but at least half of traffic can't threaten them anymore.

[it's cold, she can handle that, getting drenched isn't new. but the sheer volume of sound when it was so calm before makes her stagger. the rain, the cars, the everything is too much for her, and Lucifer's wings might shield them from the physical, but not the aural assault that happens without explanation.

rain and glass and metal and screeching and engines and honking, is it any wonder that she steps backward, that her hands come up to cover her ears? her heart beats furiously, and it glows in her chest, bright and transparently reflecting her fear. make it be quieter, for all that occurs to her is even louder than they understand, and she doesn't know anything about this area, so it's even worse.

[ Hikaru is very much same hat as Helena, never having been in a huge city in their life but at least being able to see life flash before their eyes like strobe lights in the form of a truck grill inches from their face, the metal shrapnel that flies in the air, glass raining down over their heads like rain having become solid and sharp. They press their face against Lucifer's wings until the destructive cacophony settles back to the level of city cacophony, heart pounding in their chest as hard as Helena's is bright. ]

( komaeda's not even close enough to hear hikaru's pleas, and instead, komaeda's dropping the person onto the ground because they don't need them anymore apparently. getting into the drives seat, he checks the gas — then the keys, and if he's driving stick or not... god don't let him. anyway, he's going to put it into reverse, riding the car back (maybe... over the body, helena don't look! hikaru don't look! lucifer, you can look!), and he'll drive it all the way back to where his companions are being shielded by lucifer's wings as they're running and he's driving. reminds me of this.

komaeda knew his luck might have caused some damage, but they're pretty lucky to have lucifer on their side. so now, he's rolling down the window because it's raining — )

[That sure is a body going crunch crunch under a lovely Toyota Corolla, the important question is does the car have all the safety features like the (squints at google) Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection?

Hikaru presses up against Helena on the seat next to them, trying to see out the window past Lucifer's too many wings, but it's just cars and trucks and too many lanes, traffic lights with more lights than reasonable, crosswalks that people are ignoring and rain pouring so hard the windshields beat across the glass nonstop.

This isn't going to be a movie climax high-speed chase. There's just too much traffic for it and they're going to be stuck in one place which is only okay because the police will also be stuck in one place, if Hikaru weren't so worried Komaeda would start driving on the sidewalks to keep going.

Alright. Anything within the area of this circle on the ground, besides us, should be caught in a stasis hex for a while. I can't account for new things entering the field, however — if something outside comes in, it will be able to move unless I recast the spell. [it's quiet. it's quiet now, save for breathing and motion in the car, and Helena slowly loosens her grip on her cane, can raise her head. the glowing in her chest slowly dims, until her heart is hidden away again. not fully free of fear, but far less terrified. able to reason out what's going on. able to speak, and take a deep breath.]

Hmm... The park, I guess? We mostly hung out at his place if I'm staying overnight, since it gets kind of rough after dark.

[ anyways Hikaru has a solid gold chain necklace they can undo for Lucifer, or otherwise that rock necklace they'd gotten from Lucifer and Clamor with that one rock I'd be able to look up if I weren't on lunch break. Whichever works they'll hand to Lucifer. ]

[It would have to be the gift necklace, as Lucifer needs something that can swing like a dowsing pendulum for this to work. Once he has the necklace, he assures Hikaru he'll give it back, taking it and holding it by the top of the cord and letting the rock hang.

There are several steps to begin pendulum dowsing but I'm going to gloss over all of the precursory "yes no" bullshit we have to do as setup and get right down to the part where Lucifer asks the pendulum to swing in the direction of Narumin's house.

If it starts swinging in A Direction, Lucifer will just start walking to follow it. Good luck everybody else!]

That's a fine lead, but if the park is there on our way, we should swing by... it doesn't hurt to check, because if the soul is shattered... you are well aware it won't be all in one place, and his home is further than... let's say, the park.
