JANUARY EVENT LOG
00:00 01/01
✽ At the stoke of midnight, something shatters on the ground floor in front of the bulletin board, and the entire school goes dark: all electricity gets shut off, all flames are snuffed out, and the sky is heavily overcast to hide the moon and the stars. The only source of light are the suncatchers purchased from the student store, but even those fully charged will start to dim and go out over the next three days.
✽ Nene, Hinata, Noah, Amami, and Komaeda will smell something burning, and if they pull out their PDAs, it is hot to the touch and the casing is cracked, like something had blown from the inside, and their PDAs will not be working. For everybody else, the screen flickers when they press their thumb to their PDAs, and then goes dark again. ...
✽ If anybody was inside the main school building at midnight, I am so sorry, and for everybody else who enters the building afterwards, please watch your step. The appearance and atmosphere of the school has changed to that of the "void school" and can not be reverted upon breaking a mirror. Please refer to the aforementioned link for details about the school.
✽ As of midnight, no npcs can be found inside the school, including the library ghost, the gardener, and the cats. If a character were near an npc at midnight, it would appear as if they'd disappeared into the shadows the moment the world went dark.

??? whenever you guys solve the void
✽ 01/10 marks the beginning of the final semester, and when npc students and faculty will return to school. Of the ~260 npc students enrolled at the start of December, only ~40 npc students return to school, with the other three quarters having their names crossed off the class roster in the locker area. In light of the rapidly shrinking student body, homerooms will be consolidated by year, creating a single class for each of the first, second, and third years.
✽ The countdown in front of the bulletin board has reached zero, and the glass tube appears to have shattered and bled out onto the floor, to nobody's surprise. The mess will be cleaned up by the end of the week, and in its place is a notice for the school trip taking place next month. Please see the toplevel below for more details.
✽ The science lab is now open. Add will probably elbow people out of the way getting here, but he gets dibs on the anatomical model: it is warm to the touch, and rather than being made of plastic, the skin, muscle, bones, other organs feel very much real. He thinks they might be. The rest of the room is set up like a typical research lab, with all the basic chemicals and equipment: a refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage tank, sonicator, incubator, autoclave, laminar flow cabinet, mass spectrometer, and a high performance liquid chromatography system.
✽ It snows on and off and the sky remains overcast with no sign of the sun all month.

OOC
✽ Please give the temporary locations page a thorough read! The most noticeable changes aside from the usual void school appearance is the scattered void, lack of electricity in both the school and the dorm, and the ability to walk off campus. The setting will remain as is until the characters figure out how to revert the change, or on 01/10, whichever comes first.
✽ PDAs will be inoperable until fixed. Tech-savvy characters may realize that the PDAs are powered through inductive charging, and the first step to getting them (also electrical appliances and hot water) to work again is to locate the generator.
✽ All npcs will be ICly unavailable until we unvoid the school.

[With the light of the suncatcher that he wields, Ishimaru carefully navigates the school's halls. It seems like everywhere, his fellow transfer students are hard at work. So he continues exploring in search of anything he can uncover! Feel free to run into him as he makes his way through the school's grounds.
Whenever he finds someone, he'll raise his suncatcher and try to appraise the situation.]
Is everything alright?
B. Common Room
[After a hard day of investigating, it's time to kick back and relax at the dorm! He's not sure much as changed at least, until he shines a light on the wall and notices... a familiar portrait.]
...Ah! [Startled by seeing Kirigiri's image, alongside several other familiar, missed ones, he stumbles backwards!]
C. Wildcard
[Feel free to come up with an alternative prompt or hit me up for plotting!]
a;
Well, we are all in one piece. So, there is that at least...in that sense, I believe so. Though, as things are generally, I'd say the situation is rather dubious, so perhaps not 'alright', but 'good enough' at the moment.
[ ... ]
How are you holding up with everything?
no subject
To borrow a phrase, I suppose that I am doing 'good enough'. [A slight smirk.] You are right. At the very least, we seem to have sustained our numbers in crossing over to the school. Now it is just a matter of making sure that we return in the same state! But with everyone working so hard, I have faith in our chances.
no subject
I do as well. It makes me wonder what exactly set this all off in the first place, admittedly, even if I know that is likely to be revealed in the wake of our...reversal of this mess.
Though, I'm glad to know that you're doing well enough in the midst of this.
no subject
All I can imagine is that it had to do with that vial that was by the bulletin board last month. It seemed to be filled with blood, which is usually what brings us here... And yet, this is different than any other time we have been to this version of the school. The normal methods of escape do not work at all! So I cannot be sure of anything right now.
[He shakes his head uncertainly.]
I certainly hope that we manage to find answers sooner rather than later. ...But thank you, Meng Yao-kun. I am happy that my wellbeing brings you some comfort. Yours does the same for me!

( he whispers, komaeda who happens to be there at the best moments, only beams as he lifts his hands to the back of ishimaru's pants to keep him from falling. )
...I wonder what they all have in common.
( why these set, and not anyone else that's passed? it's a thought that's been going through his head, but perhaps voicing it to the other might birth a connection. )
no subject
Eh...? Wh-who wants our silence...?
[But with the rest of what he says, he frowns as he looks back towards the portraits.]
Well they are all absent from these halls currently. But their circumstances seem to be different... [He looks over some of the others with a frown.] I- I do not believe that we ever learned what became of Kocho-kun or Kokichi-kun, however...
[But as for Kirgiri, he remembers what became of her. Painfully, vividly.]
no subject
( he knows their bodies have never been discovered, but there's probably a reason for that. he glances down at the floor before pushing himself up, looking at ishimaru for a moment then turning to face the paintings. )
Are you sure it's best to know, or would you rather not find out, Ishimaru-kun?
( it's still strange that they're all hushing in order, maybe there's something they're not supposed to speak, or perhaps they shouldn't talk here at all. )
The paintings back home didn't even make such an expression.
no subject
Yes, of course I want to know. I am not about to turn away from the truth. Not when it could help us or others... or bring peace to our lost friends.
[He manages to get himself to look back towards the portraits.]
The... expression? ...Ah, they are making similar expressions, are they not...?

A
[And while Inaba may not be the most honest of people at times due to her own personal agenda, that doesn't mean that she can't make a comment like that. It's a bit dry, however, and full of dripping sarcasm.]
But I suppose you really wanted to know about me, so I suppose things could be worse. But they could also be better, too. Probably should turn that question on you, though.
no subject
As for myself, I agree heartily with you that not everything is alright! I also second that things can be both better and worse. This is quite the distressing situation, but it is far too early to give up on hope. If we keep on exploring and working hard, I am sure that we can find our way back to the real Yogen!
no subject
[She quotes that halfheartedly, resting her hands on her waist as she finds herself sighing, glancing up at the ceiling for a moment before speaking up in a tone that's contemplative.]
I wonder if that's the case, though.
no subject
[He faces her with a thoughtful frown, as he ponders the meaning of her words.]
Inaba-kun, what do you feel "the real Yogen" is?

Uh, mm... Sorry. Am I being noisy?
[Gradually she stands again and begins to pat the dust off of her uniform.]
I can go if I'm in the way..?
no subject
You are not excessively noisy. I would ask you to be quiet during school hours, but these are special circumstances! Are you alright?
no subject
[She should be wary if he's uptight about rules. Satou is pretty good at breaking them.
Not that she's going to advertise that fact.]
Mm, I'm doing okay. I was looking for anything that we could use for keeping warm. Not having much luck. Is there something that I can help you with?
no subject
[Ishimaru nods along as he hears her out.]
How responsible of you! I do not have a central goal in mind at the moment. I was simply exploring to get a better sense of the current state of the school, and seeing if I could discover anything that could be useful! I could help you with your own errand at the same time.
b... portrait friends....
no subject
Nene-kun... [He blinks back tears and wraps an arm around her back to comfort her. It's a depressing gallery for sure... Kirigi, his classmate whose death he witnessed; Shinobu, who was his classmate who helped patch him up after the student council election; and Kokichi, the missing Ultimate who helped him at one of his lowest points... all gone. And now, a sad reminder of all these disappearances.]
no subject
( nene leans against ishimaru, before digging out her phone because she's a bit too rattled to remember certain signs- )
shinobu-nee and i were roommates before the guys joined us
and hajun-nii was with me from the start, i spent a lot of nights early on leaning on his shoulder until i fell asleep
and i considered ouma-kun a friend, even if he could be weird
they're all going shush.
i wonder why
( because it's not good to focus on this pain, they can't- they have to keep going. )
no subject
...I am so sorry. I do recall that the two of you were roommates... It seems there were people important to all of us. Kochou-kun and Ouma-kun were both there for me in their own ways after the e-election, and Kirigiri-kun... was a classmate from back home.
[And he still remembers seeing her at the student council election, eyes glowing and body falling apart with the rest.
Nene's latest message is a welcome distraction from reminiscing.]
...They are, aren't they? Do they want us to be quiet? Or... do they know some kind of secret?

b!
Whoa there — you okay?
no subject
...Yes. Yes, I am fine. I apologize for almost bumping into you so carelessly, Amami-kun! I was just... startled.
[He looks back towards the new additions to the gallery.]
no subject
Whew, I don't blame you. They really look just like them, don't they?
( concern... )
no subject
...Y-yes. Indeed. The splitting image. I did not think the decor would find a way t-to become even worse... but here we are.
[He forces himself to turn away and look back at Amami.]
It- it is probably better not to look at them.
