✽ The silence breaks at six to welcome in another crisp Wednesday morning. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and there's a surprise waiting for anyone who decides to sludge through the snow to inspect the area in front of the auditorium outside. There's a deep indentation in the snow, just large enough for a frozen, charred body to fit in.
✽ There are a total of three bodies to find. All three bodies have now been found.

It's not raining indoors, so that's probably not good. With a shiver, he's going to try to get out of the way of whatever the hell is on the ceiling.

Drip... Drip...

One at a time, coming slower yet still, a couple drops of red liquid hit the floor.

[notsosou]

Hey what's happening up h- MOM HOLY FUCK.

Shin is going to walk in, see the dripping red puddle on the floor, freeze and reflexively and slowly follow the movement up towards the ceiling with his gaze despite no part of him actually wanting to.

Shin is rewarded for his bravery with the sight of Maya Arisu nailed to the ceiling.

Miyuki's eyes widen, he can feel his stomach churn, and he. Wants to run away as fast as he possibly can.

[notsosou]

[That is an immense mood as far as Shin's concerned and it's a little weird to be seeing it from the outside. After a moment's hesitation and trying not to look back up, gaze firmly not going above ninety degrees in this house right now, he'll put a hand on Miyuki's shoulder and sort of tug towards the door.]

Come on. L-let's go outside, okay?

[How is he the calmest person here, he has no idea what to do so he's just cobbling something together.]

[ Miyuki... can't turn his gaze away at this point. That was Maya Arisu. He had just spoken to her. He'd just worked along side her, had just accepted her offer to join the student council.

Suddenly, she's a corpse on display in their student council room. For all of the talk of needing to defend himself, suddenly this happened.

He barely registers Shin's comment, swallowing back the bile building in his throat. He takes a step back, unable to keep his eyes off Arisu, even as they move outside of the student council room.

She was dead. ]

[notsosou]

[Shin's going to just... shut the door once they're through, breaking the line of sight. Suddenly it might as well be Schrodinger's Maya... if it weren't for the fact the image is burned into both their brains.]

Sit here, I'll... get you some water.

[taketori]

[ Miyuki's silent for a moment, staring at the closed door. The key is burning in his pocket, and he forces himself to take a deep breath. ]

Thank you.

[ Sitting down, he can't force himself to do that. In fact, he doesn't know what to do with himself. Until, he grits his teeth and bangs his hands against the door. ]

Goddamn it!

[notsosou]

[Shin can't force him either, so after a second's dithering he heads into the newly unlocked science lab in search of a clean unused beaker he can wash the dust off and put some tap water in, because he doesn't want to go too far. He gets back just in time to see Miyuki smack the door, his own small jolt at it creating ripples in the water.]

Here...

[He'll hold it out... holding it against Miyuki's lower arm in the way that's his habit for handing people things now.]

...

[He fidgets with his scarf, looking away. He doesn't know Miyuki well, even as he's clearly upset. Does he even say anything? Can anything be said to this at all?]

...The others should... probably know, huh? C-can I borrow your PDA for a second?

[ It barely registers before he can finally meekly hold onto the beaker. Processing this felt impossible in the moment, and he has to somehow, some way, regain his composure. Even in this place... he's a member of the student council. He's supposed to show determination and leadership in his role.

He finally steps away from the door, reaching into his pocket and fishing out his PDA, staring down at it. ]

I... they should, hear it from me, shouldn't they? That Arisu--

[ He forces himself to take a drink of water, and continue his measured breaths. ]

Sorry, I... I don't know what to do.

[ For once, he can't think of a proper solution to this. ]

[notsosou]

...I'll do for you.

[He probably can't mimic Miyuki well, but it would at least be in his name? Mostly it's Shin not wanting to use his own if he can help it. He's holding out his hand, but he'll pull it back if not taken up on.

...

He's seen this kind of responsibility break someone before. He exhales, long, as the situation really starts to sink in.]

Don't worry about it. ...Ahaha, consider it delegation.

[It's not like he really knows what to do either but... he has at least seen this before... Can share the load a little.]

[ With everything that's been going on... honestly. There's not much of a choice on his end.

Miyuki hands over his PDA. ]

If you could. I'm not going to be much help at the moment. I... I'll hang out here, in front of the door until I'm ready.

[ Ready for what, he has no idea. ]

[notsosou]

I-It's fine... I'll keep you updated.

[He'll take the PDA and settle in place leaning against the side of the wall texting for a bit, face and frown half-buried in scarf, blood draining from his face as the response occurs and then a breath of relief as... Komaeda... seems to have it handled.

He looks down at the screen and turns it off, and then looks at the door to the room the same way someone regards a ceiling high pile of dishes except with the element that that's a dead person in there. He really doesn't want to go in, but... he passes the device back to Miyuki.]

Here... I'm... gonna head inside and see if there's any... clues, or something.

[He's darting in neat as you like, no need for Miyuki to see any more of the body than he needs to.]

Shin will return to the room to find it as he left it. There is blood in the room underneath the body. The room contains tables and chairs, a chalkboard, announcement equipment, and four filing cabinets that are currently inaccessible.

What would he like to check first?

First thing I guess is crane his neck up and see if the blood's coming just from the nails being in there or if there's a larger visible wound of some kind, scarf being held against his mouth and nose in a futile attempt to block out the smell.

Soso tempted to touch the announcement equipment but after the disaster on the network Shin's a little reluctant to broadcast on the tannoy even if no one else is here yet - is there anything written on the chalkboard though?

The blood is coming from the nails pinning her in place, which are primarily scattered about her joints. There are no other visible injuries.

There is nothing written on the chalkboard; it's been wiped clean.

[notsosou]

He doesn't know about a certain lantern's blackboard revealing properties, but he can still wish he had it.

The horrifying possibility approaches that she might actually be still alive despite all this, so is she still breathing?

He's also going to drag a table under but not in the way of the blood drip under so that he can stand on it for a closer look.

The body is completely still. There is no rise and fall of the chest, or anything else that might indicate that she is still breathing. The dripping blood seems to be coming to a stop.

Okay thank god on that one.

After a furious internal debate on if he should leave the body where it is for someone who knows bodies and also can get her off the ceiling without dying themselves, he's going to extremely reluctantly take another photo of her as she is before standing on the desk and gingerly trying to pull one of her hands free, wincing at the blood.

What kind of nails are we talking about here?

They're galavanized framing nails, though that won't be obvious from looking at them. They're stuck in pretty well, so he'll have to yank her hand through the nail itself in order to get her hand off.

Yeah he's... not doing that... he'll check the fingernails of the hand for blood underneath, because he knows that much from detective games and also his own almost-death not too long ago, before letting go and taking a step back and thinking.

Clearly he needs a hammer or something. Actually speaking of, the person who did this would also need something like that, right? Unless they were freakishly pushing them in with a finger or something, anything goes in this weird school.

He's going to hop down and check the surroundings for a hammer or nailgun or signs thereof. It's also occuring to him it's weird he's not being sent to the voidschool with every drop of blood.

There is no blood on or under the fingernails. There are no odd marks on her neck that indicate she was scratching at it either. However, Shin might notice that there are bumps on her skin.

It will take a little bit of looking, but Shin will find a bloody hammer tucked between two filing cabinets. There is rust on the cabinets themselves. There are stands of blond hair in the vicinity.

Retroactively, what kind of bumps are we talking? Like mosquito bites, blisters, how many of them? Are they just on the hand? While I'm rewinding back in time, how many tallies did she have?

He's got some time, they get a whole three hours and all, luxury... Aha, he knew it... also does no one ever use these filing cabinets? Resigning himself to his role as crime scene photographer he's going to take pics of these as well, before taking a couple of the blond strands, contemplating them between finger and thumb.

Hair... he does actually know you can distinguish fibres with fire; one of the many odd pieces of trivia Midori always seemed to know that definitely now sours in hindsight. But it is useful, so he's going to run a strand of both the orange and blond hairs under blue lighter flame and see what happens.

There are blisters on her skin, and they're all over her body. Shin will notice them anywhere there is exposed skin. She has three tallies in total.

The cabinets are currently inaccessible, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't used. Regardless of whether or not they are, they seem to have started to rust over and erode.

Midori would be proud of Shin, knowing that he taught him well, and also laughing at him and telling him to find the truth for himself while knowing the answer like two minutes in like the freak that he is. Unfortunately, he's not here to be useful (or useless,) and Shin will find that the hair burns normally and presumably smells terrible upon doing so.
