There's a poem that I'd like for people to read and share their thoughts on. I'm not sure how good it is, so I was thinking that maybe having it in a public forum like this would allow for some discussion.

Committing a crime isn't scary.
The scary part is to admit it.

Receiving a punishment isn't scary.
The scary part is to know the pain of it.

Neither crime nor punishment will be gone from the world,
Because humans are unable to know their future.

Alternatively, if you do not like poems, or would like another question to chew on: there isn't some sort of magic that can make someone become older, is there?

You can say that curiosity killed the cat, really. If you have your own poems to share, I'd like to read them as well. Writing these sorts of things is a hobby of mine, I suppose.

I've wished for it for the longest time, but I never expected it to actually happen.

Maybe if you wait for as long as I have, you'll have your wish granted, too.

Mmm... no, I'm not the type to just wait around for it. I'll make my wishes come true myself

Even if it takes me another lifetime.

Well, I certainly can't berate someone on wanting to be proactive in fulfilling their own wishes.

It's a good thing, after all.

Is it? What if the wish winds up with others getting hurt or killed?

[ Not hers, of course. Well, humans wouldn't get killed, anyway. ]

I was being more generic.

But I suppose if you're to ask me like that: it depends.

Truthfully, I'm not a fan of seeing other people getting hurt. However, pain is something that's human nature. Whether that be emotional or physical.

It would really depend on the reasoning behind the actions. But even so... if a person's will is so strong that they would do anything for that wish... As cruel as it is to say, it's something to be applauded for. Even more so if they toss their humanity in the process.

Well. That isn't to say that I agree with those actions, though.

Ah, I see! You and I do agree on something for once!

Except... when someone uses their humanity as a tether. Isn't it better to just go fully in and commit than to feel sorrow about it later? Like your poem said, it's much less scary to face a punishment if you don't know what that pain feels like.

[ If you aren't prepared, then why even do it? Killing, dying for something and then not wanting it in the end... it's so half-assed that it makes her want to cry. ]

Hypothetically speaking, yes.

But even if someone is committed it doesn't mean that they can't have regrets later, for whatever reason. They can't predict what others may or may not do. Perhaps it is better for them to have no regrets, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the act in of itself is better.

It just simply means they can hold themselves together more.

[ --actually, that makes a lot of sense. Bonnie had tried to spend any amount of time thinking on how one would go about killing as had been done recently and still wind up feeling depressed over it. It might be human to feel that kind of remorse...

...but, Bonnie is indisputably human, and she doesn't know if she's ever felt anything like that. Hmm. ]

I suppose in the end, it may be another good way to weed out the strong from the weak. That makes sense to me.

I suppose.

And sometimes the weak try to claw out of that place by doing things that cannot be easily forgiven. It's kind of sad, really.

It is. Although, I think it's sad to do something unforgivable and hope for forgiveness.

[ Or, in this case. Not expect it, but wanting to hide it a bit longer. ]

If they know that it is something unforgiveable--

They shouldn't be expecting forgiveness in the first place. But it is human to want it. From those that they truly care about. Even if that's contradictory.

Hmm. Would that be nice if humans realized how futile that is. Maybe we'd all be at peace, hm?

People don't see the futility in things.

It's why they fight to the bitter end, even if things have failed them over and over. Perhaps that's why we're all here.

I suppose. Maybe we're all desperately clinging to life, and once that desperation goes, we'll finally shuffle off to Hell.

Or Heaven, if you're so lucky.

There might be those who don't belong in either place as well.

[Is she talking about herself? Who knows.]

Hard to make it go away, though.

That desperation.

...Who wants that desperation to go away? Isn't it better to want to live at any cost?

Who knows.

Some people get tired. Some people might just want to force another to give up after trying for so long.

Give up? What's that supposed to mean??

Exactly what it means.

I'm not saying anyone should. Just that some outside force might attempt that.
