Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

there they go again, talking about their hidden goal, the unknown that even komaeda's unsure of. it sounds like a dream when they talk about it, and he wonders if they'll... wake up to the world the other has in mind. )

If it's a maybe, there's no need to be attached to it... take what you're sure you can have, and never let it go.

From the way you hold onto me, it's hard to reject your claim... but isn't there anything I can do to make it? So you don't have to do all the work?

( komaeda doesn't need much direction, but a general idea... because it sounds like this is all on npc-kun's terms... on the other being able to keep him....'s money. )

[ They do loosen their hold on Komaeda again, though, so they don't accidentally strangle him before they can get their grubby hands on a will. ]

Other than that... It'd be nice if you could get people to shop here. Put in a good work for me: tell everybody I'm a good honest shopkeeper.

( it would have been fine if they wanted to continue, it's not like he's going anywhere for the moment for as long as he's been on the floor. hell, he'll have to pick up all that's been dropped here, so he'll remain a little longer. )

( komaeda doesn't lie, but... ) You're my favorite shopkeeper, by far, even if you believe I won't make it to the end. That doesn't mean you should be visited for your wares.

( and he'll remove his hand just in case the other wants to do the same. )

And... I'll visit here for you. ( and whatever npc-kun wants him to buy, because he does like their company. )

[ Ugh... there's that burning feeling in their chest they ascribe to happiness when they hear that they're Komaeda's favorite shopkeeper— "by far", to boot!— but that's nothing compared to when he says that he'll visit for them, not their wares. Them as a person, and oh is it hard to be seen as a person and not just a title. It's... a little scary, being seen.

Slowly, they shrug off that hand and sit back up, sliding off Komaeda's back.

And then goes to lie down next to him, so they can see his face and, most importantly, he can see theirs and the happiness he gives them. ]

( he will visit them for their hope, so at least npc-kun has that going for them. to see them as an individual person is very tedious for komaeda who normally doesn't care much about someone in general... this is about their hope, something he's been promised to see.

he crosses his arms under his head, looking towards them as they watch back. to see them practically beaming is scary, how long will they stay like that, it's frightening knowing he can even make someone feel like that at all.

( that means their little trick in getting komaeda to stay around will possibly work, he does have to visit his "footlocker" on a daily basis. ) ...Such kindness, I really don't deserve it. You should save it for your next customers, a smile like that will make them give up everything.

[ Yeah, that's right. They have his things hostage, they're pushy and self-centered and knows exactly what this smile does for people. But sometimes the smile is real, even if it slips, and they have to pull it back on. ]

I have enough smiles for everybody, so don't you worry about me running out! Besides, this isn't kindness... It's selfishness. It's what I want.

[ Maybe the Aratas have a deadbeat dad okay it's not their fault they're attention starved. At least npc-kun embraces it rather than running away like Rokkun does. ]

( because he understands what is and isn't for him, and something like that shouldn't be either. it gives him too much power, he shouldn't have the idea that he's more than what he finds himself to be. )

( sighs, they make me insane, and counselor did this on purpose because he's a twisted cycle path... hate he wasn't proud of his children. )

Telling me you're selfish... I'm pretty much aware, our whole engagement left hints... but as long as you're you, it's not a bad thing at all.

[ Oh, their reputation of a good honest shopkeeper... Though, "as long as you're you," it's okay, and it's something npc-kun takes heart in. They can be unapologetically them, it's okay. It's okay.

[ Anyways npc-kun would be horrendous to date, one of those people who are all "text me every night before bed" so they know you're always thinking of them and also that you're alive ]

( the way komaeda quotes this from rokkun because he thinks rokkun is better at talking to people so obviously this is the way. so npc-kun is allowed to be obnoxiously annoying, greedy, and whatever concept creates them... manipulate those that they want to keep, and lock out those that they don't want.

( i'm crying at who will be the lucky bachelor for npc-kun's heart because they're a piece of work. high maintenance is always worth it, and it's key, but who is worse them or rokkun... papa counselor walked so they could run. )

npc-kun is the ideal actually, like if they were on their own hit romance show... npc-kun would have so many people compared to rokkun's one or two. bc this man literally looked at komaeda and was like he knows no concept of love or how to love, easy pickings. )

[ Sometimes, not being a batshit insane murderer (publicly) gains you friends and respect. But oh I hate that Rokkun literally looked at Komaeda and told himself Komaeda will never love him back and so loving him is safe. Easy pickings... ]

( maybe that's where komaeda failed because he embraces his freak nature... rokkun was smart. honestly... honestly that was so insane of him, but i respect the hustle because he was right. play smart, not hard. he also has komaeda's dementia on his side. )

( insufferable, annoying, despair-inducing, hope-fulfilling, childish, sarcastic, greedy, fussy, dramatic, and troublesome. )

Everything to me, they're Li'l Ultimates, and worthy of my time and adoration.

( he loves his kids, even though one calls him "older brother," but he doesn't know that... ) I think you'd be able to get along with them. ( no... )

( every time one of them failed their mission, they lost their usefulness... but luckily komaeda had the final say, and removing them for the future foundation to find them sooner or later was part of it. )

[ ... They're going to take a gamble and be optimistic about this and pretend Komaeda sent his children off to some prestigious boarding school and didn't just snuff them out in their sleep which was honestly the first thought. ]

now she's a teenage girl who hates despair because komaeda was annoying about it, and wants to die in her monokuma van eating snacks. )

...To love someone like that, without knowing how much hope they have is frightening. I don't know how you do it.

( to love someone who lacks hope... komaeda could never, buy he loves hope in general. it's kind of unfair, but hope has never done him wrong. )

But that means you can never give up on that...

What are you scared of?

[ Loving things, people, maybe it's a little scary because of the whole uncertainty of it, the vulnerability, the bias, but when the other person doesn't even know? There's nothing safer than that. ]

Ugly people are so despairing, I can't handle it.

( the way i was going to write something genuine about maybe his claustrophobia, and then i looked at his dislikes, and saw ugly people and started cracking up. this is the hill he's going to die on today, and he even sighs a bit too dramatically about it... )

I don't love based on looks, I like pretty people... but... ugly people make living tedious.

( his loves has always been hope, and as long as npc-kun has hope... which komaeda's going to reach out and pinch their cheeks because they're close enough. )
