[ Chemical equations are fun... but then it quickly becomes more complicated than npc-kun can handle. What's in this notebook doesn't look too difficult, though, and by looking, they can follow the student's thought process and where they went wrong. ]

[ Tearing their eyes away from the papers, they look over at Komaeda ]

It doesn't matter, though, what Hiro's reason is, or that he reaches for the other bag of bugles even though he's still on his first.

( or their own brand of hope, komaeda-arata only knows so much, and he doesn't want to worry npc-kun with it — they should know that this school isn't chalked up to being the best. everyone has their own secret agendas, they fight for the chance at graduation. )

It was before you got here, P-kun. It happened awhile back, but I never met him though... If he survives, then he has a pretty decent hope, that's all.

[ At least the insinuation makes Rokkun lift his head and give Komaeda a kicked puppy look. A guilty look, like he's having trouble admitting he's wrong, because he's so used to being on his own and never having to talk with someone. No about anything important. Not about him and them.

Sitting back, he runs his hand through his hair and huffs in frustration, but it's frustration directed at himself more than Komaeda's insistence that they talk, when he's never asked for this and has spent nearly all the conversations Rokkun remembers refusing to talk about thoughts and feelings and the such. ]

It's just... something I need time to process. And not all at once. When I first opened my eyes here, and that memory was still fresh, all I did was cry for days on end. I can't afford to be that again.

( if he can't get in her business through her... but he's genuinely curious because maya interests him, and the way hiro thinks is also interesting even though he's trying to understand him little by little. ) Are you excited to have a sister in power... it sounds nice.

( is holding onto "i can hope, can't i? that someday you'll talk to me." wrong of komaeda-arata as someone who doesn't know how to... place his feelings, or if they'll backfire. what should he say? expose his own memory that he begged for people to not know so that it's something shared between them (well, three other people know of rokkun's past)? it's easy to ignore rokkun's existence, but there are little things that cause the ultimate to sit in place, to wait and see what he can understand — if he has that courage, then maybe there's something about rokkun that'll make him think he won't have to regret every time he's near him — that he's not hurting him. he knows how unfortunate he is, and he knows that he's stumbled upon something that's changed the other's life...

he won't apologize for it, but he can reassure him, and he smiles softly as he lifts both his hands — they're cupping the other's cheeks, holding onto that distressed puppy-like expression. )

...To handle something like this, you have all the time in the world. Even I would have difficulties... though there's something different between then and now.

( the thumb of his organic hand sweeps across his cheek, and komaeda imagines that's what he should do if the other ever cried. he's still like a child, handling the world alone because that's the path he chose, even with every stepping stone set before him... he uses them properly, but who is he exposing his light for? )

to be fair, the supernatural is all out of his element, and even if he's throwing himself in with all he can, there's still only so much that he can do. when he gets the chance, he'll try asking meng yao or clamor, maybe. both of them mentioned having more experience with this sort of thing. )

But, well, I'll look into it. I know a couple of us transfers have experience with spirits, so maybe they'll have a better idea of what to do than I do.
