You sit here before me. Isn't this interesting?

[sisters]

( a pause, watching him eat that chip, and amami sighs. )

Is it supposed to be? Unless you're talking about how I ended up here, but I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself on that one — I don't intend for it to happen again.

( it will if it has to, mind you. if the situation comes up again. that shouldn't happen though. )

[adsum]

Actions do not always follow intentions.

[ Many murders here aren't premeditated, he's well aware of that. Those are the ones that are interesting. He holds his bowl of chips out to Amami. ]

Would you like one?

[ He saw Amami staring. Don't be shy. ]

[sisters]

It was a pretty specific situation, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

( but he'll look at the chips. are there any green ones at the top... if not... guess he'll take a pink one after all. )

[adsum]

[ There's a little smile when Amami takes a chip. For him, I'll allow there to be a green one.

The counselor stares at him expectantly. ]

[sisters]

( to be honest, the staring kind of makes him visibly hesitate, but okay. amami... eats the chip.

and because it's so quiet, the crunching is probably audible while he looks the counselor in the eye. )

[adsum]

[ The counselor also eats a chip. It's a white one. Crunch crunch.

... ]

People rarely agree to eat with me, did you know? Why did you take it?

[sisters]

Well I doubt it's anything that'll hurt me, seeing as you're eating them too.

( is there a reason he should not have? well, aside from— )

I can see why people might not want to get along with the guy who speaks mostly to murderers, though.

[adsum]

[ It's a claim that makes him laugh, deep and throaty. ]

You aren't wrong.

[ He does speak mostly to murderers. They're a lot of fun. ]

I have to do my job sometimes, you know. Murderers benefit most from guidance, and those who remain nothing but victims in this school, do you believe they will seek me out to talk?

[ Would they trust him at all? Even in normal society getting people to open their heart is like pulling teeth. Here, everybody has trust issues. Among a multitude of other issues. ]

[sisters]

Saying they're "nothing but victims" is simplifying things a bit, don't you think? They're people too, and there are others in this school who care... who cared about them. Even if the people who've died aren't around to talk to anymore, you could always talk to those around them.

( not that amami would've wanted to all that much, but it makes more sense to him than writing off anyone who doesn't have blood on their hands.

would make him come across as a little less shady than he does, too. maybe if he wasn't "the freak who only talks to murderers," it might contribute to building that trust factor. )

But yeah, either way, you could probably open up your appointments a bit more. ( he waves an absent hand, something dismissive. )

I've heard of at least one plan to frame someone for murder just so they could get in to talk with you; you're in high demand.

It wouldn't have worked. I'm fully aware of who does what.

[ He's the one who sends the invitations, after all. But he does look rather amused by how far some people would apparently go to speak to him, though it won't change his mind. ]

Counseling is a place where you learn more about yourself, Amami. If I entertained every walk-in, it would be conversations such as this.

[ Things about him, which are ultimately things unnecessary. ]

[sisters]

( oh, he doesn't think their conversation is interesting? amami shrugs, leans back against his chair with one elbow propped up on the armrest. )

I mean, I'm just answering your questions, but I think I've got a pretty good idea of who I am.

( if mizuki doesn't want to talk about himself, he can always ask questions that don't have to do with him. amami is perfectly happy to learn more about the other through how he responds to him. )

[ Not ideal, but he can do that. ]

How would you describe yourself?

[sisters]

( double checking the thread date to see the status of his sister complex... unfortunately for him, intact. )

Honestly, I don't think there's anything too special about me. I'm just a regular guy. ( and he's grimacing, but after a moment, continues. )

I always seem to turn out pretty useless when it matters most though, but maybe that's just the memory problems.

( maybe if he knew what his stupid talent was, he could make use of it when it mattered. )

That's pretty harsh... Why would you call yourself useless?

[ Or is he only useless in certain situations? Which in that case, isn't it on the situation, not on him? ]
