Huh. I mean, I guess it's not that strange, but I wouldn't have expected it in the nineties.

( they're absolutely literal. the last rules were literal so these ones are too, give him some time!!! )

Well, anyway... ( he waves a hand, he's pretty satisfied with what he's learned for tonight. )

Is there anything you need, Kazuki-san? I know we caused you a bit of trouble back then, so I'd like to make up for it if possible.

[ Is there anything he needs? Maybe a new mask, but he doesn't think of it when he's not the one seeing himself everyday. ]

If you could relieve this tree of its burdens, I would be forever grateful. But it is only a wish. I do not expect it to happen in this life.

[sisters]

( its burdens, huh? well, he hadn't really expected that one. amami's gaze wanders over to it and, you know, he's not too comfortable with getting too near it right now, but he'll give a thoughtful hum despite the fact. )

Its burdens... You're talking about the souls?

[adsum]

In a way. The tree holds these souls in the same way you would hold a child who has gotten too big to be held. You would not call them a burden. But you are tired nonetheless.

[ And the tree has been getting larger, more full of petals, maybe not noticeable on a day to day basis, but compared to the start of the year, it's obvious the way the tree reaches out and starts to sag at the ends of the branches with all the weight. ]

[sisters]

So I guess you'd say... they're ready to move on, yeah? Something like that.

( there's something kinder about kazuki's metaphor than the sight amami witnessed, but he supposes that he point remains similar; they're souls that shouldn't be lingering here any longer. )

I can look into it. It'll be easier if I know why they go to the tree in the first place, though.

I can not presume to know. I have always found myself drawn to this tree, ever since it was first planted into the earth.

[ Even though his reason is more based on emotional attachment, he'd imagine familiarity plays some part in its draw. ]

If not safe in a harbor, the souls would simply disappear. If my attachment to this place is broken and I am to leave, I too would stop existing.

( he doesn't see. or, at best, he kind of sees. more realistically, he's kind of at a loss here.

to be fair, the supernatural is all out of his element, and even if he's throwing himself in with all he can, there's still only so much that he can do. when he gets the chance, he'll try asking meng yao or clamor, maybe. both of them mentioned having more experience with this sort of thing. )

But, well, I'll look into it. I know a couple of us transfers have experience with spirits, so maybe they'll have a better idea of what to do than I do.

If the opportunity comes, perhaps. But you need not go out of your way for something like me.

[ there is no "thank you" or "I appreciate it" let him die, I was supposed to be freed of him last month ]

( maybe if he chose violence in the end we could've too... anyway, that about wraps it up for amami. he lifts his hand to wave, then kinda realizes, and pockets it instead as he gets up to go. )
