Hm? Yeah, during the day is nice since you can swim, and it's pretty stunning — coral reefs, fish, even just the different colours the water can be. Some places it's a deep blue, but in others it's more green...

( he's settling down too now, making himself comfortable with crossed legs as he watches them build. )

At night though, it's really something else. If daytime makes you want to hang out with your friends in the water, there's something about the quiet sound of the ocean at night that really makes you think about your place in the world. The moon and the stars in the sky, and all of those lights shining off the waves around you. The water goes on and on and on, and there's something comforting about that. Like even if you can't see it, you know that there's even more out there, waiting for you, y'know.

( he sighs. wishes he were better with words — maybe one for poetry. if he had one of those lines about the moon and the tide and how they're drawn to each other, that'd be nice for the feeling he's trying to share right now. instead he only glances towards the two beside him, looking pretty fond. he can't do it justice with words, but... )

One day, Kamo-kun, we'll go to a real beach together — all three of us, and anyone else you want to bring too.

[ Okay... so... this sort of play is very weird. Wet hands get shoved into the sand and when they pull them back out they're coated with it. Okay... alright. They pick up the cup and wet more of the sand, packing it down as much as they can because the foundation is going to have to bear the weight of the castle, it's the most important part, they'll have to keep some water close by to make sure the sand doesn't dry out over time before they can start on the walls and towers and a moat all the way around so they can keep some water on hand to wet the sand without having to get up and go near the pool too often and actually this is their castle now, they don't need your help Komaeda, let them do this.

It's something that, once they start, doesn't require a lot of thinking, leaving their mind free to imagine everything that Amami says— the darkness of the night, the moon and stars above but scattered and softened on the surface of the water, an ocean that stretches on forever and ever and ever and ever and that's scary, to them, knowing that no matter how hard they try to fight the waves and the current, they could struggle for years and never seem to make any progress, with no shore in sight.

The look of concentration on their face breaks at the sound of their name, and they look up at Amami.

( npckun can have it, actually, komaeda doesn't mind giving it to them as he sits back, and the little crumbs of sand that's stuck to his hand is wiped away like it's an easy solution. he finds himself quiet, looking off towards the pool in thought, before closing his eyes thinking about the island he was on before.

jabberwock island was probably his first real experience with others om the beach, where he had a good time, but that's neither here or there considering where he is, but he thinks if npckun can one day enjoy it like they did, it'd be worth it. besides, amami's description of it makes it out to be more exciting than whatever boring attempt komaeda is giving.

he gets up, takes a few steps back, and crouches to look up from below, to see the stars through the window in this position. he remembers one night he stayed in his cottage, and from a far distance, he could see a dazzling array of fireworks...
