Why do you make it so hard to be friends with you?

[it's not said in like, a mean way, but genuinely curious. maya always has a distance, keeps a distance, and discourages things that other people might be touched by; if it's just how she is is one thing, but subaru's just someone who likes doing things for the people he considers himself friends with or at least friendly towards, so

it's none of his business, it's not important in the long run, but he can't help the question just popping out.]

I can get along with others well enough. For me, being "friends" is just a word.

Of course he does! I mean-- I don't get it exactly the same way, it's just me, my mom, and my dog, but I know a pair of twins who'd use each other as an excuse just to mess around with a question like that. I was ready just in case you tried to dodge the question more than you already are.
