Sorry, Kazuki-san. I know you've already helped us with a lot.
( so... yeah, it's not the same, but he's gonna have to pull a "we have food at home" with another glance back to subaru. )
If he had any to spare, they'd probably already be planted in the courtyard by now, don't you think? If you want to garden, why don't you help with what's already here.
( but not the wisteria tree because amami will tell him why when they get back in the dorm.
... actually, pretty sure he owes kazuki some help watering things out here after that visit before, huh... )

He is right, lad. A life is a life, and even a plant's is not a trifle matter. If you simply wish to take care of a plant, I have many who would appreciate the companionship. If you wish to grow something ornamental or to be eaten, those are different considerations. Tell me your thoughts, so that I may help find one that suits your interests best.
[ It's like those stories you hear about little kids making their parents get them puppies for Christmas and then two weeks later get bored of them and send them to the pound, don't do that to dogs, don't do that to plants. ]

still... subaru didn't think of it that way -- a life is a life, even when it's a plant... hajime could've probably told him the same thing, thinking about it.]
Oh, uh... Um.
[...]
I think something you can eat from would be nice? My mom had an herb garden, I'd help pull weeds in it. Is ornamental like, bonsai and stuff?

( amami, whose family just kind of hired a gardener and called it a day. all his family plant memories are probably just things like being scolded for stomping all over them when he got too excited, sorry kazuki.
still... )
If it's something to remind you of home, that doesn't sound so bad.

Ornamental pertains to things of beauty as opposed to utility, but for plants, I would like to think it is both. Their mere presence brings about joy and comfort.
[ Like the wisteria tree. Pretty, when you don't think about what it is. ]

... they both sound nice... something comforting, but something that reminds him of home... if it produces food it probably won't last in a sense, but maybe something that comes back again and again...?
...]
Can you think of anything that comes back once it dies? Like how trees aren't dead, just sleeping. That sorta thing.
[annuals or something like that]
