Uh... Imoni?
no subject
...? Hm, I don't remember if I met mine.
( don't mind him, he's actually thinking, and when he gets to an answer... he has no dull pain, or sharp pain... just hollow thoughts where he feels nothing. for a moment, that emptiness could be said for this family meal, but then he thinks of a few people, and he's more willing. )
Sukiyaki.
( instead komaeda answers for him, because he can, so that subaru isn't confused by his question. )
no subject
Imoni and sukiyaki'll be another day. ☆
[that's more preparation than he wants to do right now. it'll be something he swings by with, first to rokuro and then to komaeda since that's just easier. but he's pinning them in mind, worry not........
anyway he has to melt butter to toast his bread in so this is gonna be a ~whatever min handwave fest. i'll tell you how it stacks up in a few.]
Roku-chan, it's your turn to ask a question.
[hope class is on pause but getting to know one another is not]
no subject
Hmm... He leans back on the barstool, knees braced on the underside of the counter to keep from tipping over as he thinks of what the hell he'd want to know about either of them, when he knows Komaeda won't give him a straight answer anyways and Subaru he doesn't know well enough to ask anything more interesting than surface level questions.
... ]
Do you think... [ he already knows Komaeda's answer, but for Subaru, ] ...that the end justifies the means?
no subject
with his hand still laced with rokkun's, he uses his other arm to lean his chin again, looking at the surface as he listens to rokkun's question.
that's a very thoughtful question for anyone else, and he looks up towards subaru like he's interested in his opinion. it sounds like a rhetorical question when said to him, but who knows. )
no subject
[it's not said in a bad way (sort of amused actually), but the question sounds like something he'd pull. except in a more drawn out way, a spiel leading up to it.]
Nope. I think there's always another way to do something, even if it's not obvious-- like, I won't knock someone for feeling they've only got that one means to an end, 'cause it's never easy to see and sometimes it's just fastest way, but I can't agree with someone saying that whatever they did before is fine just 'cause the end turned out alright.
[he knows so many people it applies to, here and back at yumenosaki. and he got mad at all of them, about them, because it wasn't fair to anyone. it's their choice to make. and if they make it then there's no going back on it, most of the time, but that doesn't mean he agrees.]
If you hurt someone or yourself and say that it's fine because things ended up the way you wanted, you can't expect everyone to be happy about it. [with a glance at komaeda.] Y'know?
no subject
You can't guarantee everybody's happiness. That's not the most important thing to everyone.
[ For Komaeda there's hope; for him there's... basically everything else? There's always an ends he's working towards. ]
no subject
happiness isn't needed in hope, as long as there is hope, they have everything that they needed, that they wanted, and this is how komaeda decides what life should be like. his thoughts of when he wanted to be god surfaces to his head, his actions that he made all for the sake of hope, and he wouldn't change a thing. he meets eyes with subaru when he glances at him, and there's a small hum as he listens to exchanges. )
Happiness is subjective, sometimes... there's no need for it when hope is what you're given. Maybe someone will be mad at the end, but at least they're tucked underneath the umbrella of something oh-so warm, it's worth it...
( he'll take his hand back now, trying to slip it out of the other's hold, not because he was GASLIT, but because he wants to use this hand for something.
will he let go? )
no subject
... not at komaeda, but--]
Even if someone's important thing was the safety of someone else, if that was a done deal, then the first person would be happy. So in the end, the most important thing is happiness, and I wanna guarantee it as much as I can -- without causing the opposite as much as possible.
[and now he's directing to komaeda]
You're right that happiness is what you make of it, but hope's not separate from it -- it's the same thing as it. Or like, one the same level. People are their most hopeful when they're happy, or have a chance at being happy -- hoping for the best and stuff like that.
[smell that bacon. delicious. philosophy talks in guy fieri's kitchen]
no subject
There's a point where hope becomes presumptuous, and happiness indulgent, though.
[ Please be more realistic, you guys. also he doesn't let go of Komaeda's hand, no ]
no subject
Akehoshi-kun really likes happiness, to the point that he...
( it's obvious, isn't rokkun? probably can't tell how much a caterer the other can be, but he won't call it out just yet. )
...People are hopeful either way, it doesn't matter the feeling. Being happy is just a plus... what makes you happy, Rokkun? As you can see, what makes Akehoshi-kun happy is seeing others happy.
no subject
... but komaeda totally took his question, so subaru'll stop his scowling at rokuro and consider his interest piqued, keeping an eye on his cooking]
no subject
...No one thing, I guess. Nothing comes to mind.
[ what's the opposite of hope class ]
no subject
...Well, there you have it.
( time to look at subaru, because he's going to be the one with the issue here. )
no subject
... ... ...]
The sound of rain against the rooftop's nice. The stars are nice. Holding the hand of someone you like is nice. Aren't those reasons to be happy?
[small things, things that make people happy.]
Just 'cause you can't think of any doesn't mean there's none~. You seemed pretty happy when I talked up Maddy's not-confession scene earlier, for example~. ♪
no subject
[ Murdering Subaru feels like it would make him happy. ]
But, like I said, it's not altogether important for me to be happy. I'll take what I can get, but there's no reason to put the extra effort into it. You definitely don't need to accost me in my own classroom at the end of school.
no subject
he won't sit down, but he's finally going to take his hand back from rokkun. )
Let me help Akehoshi-kun make the plates.
( IF rokkun let's him go, he'll be on your side to help you subaru, give him a few minutes. talking about accosting, is that about what komaeda did? )
You were leaving, it was the only option I had at the time. I thought we were partners in crime...
no subject
but subaru will appreciate the help even though it's simple, it's pan-toasted bread layered with slightly runny eggs and not-so-crispy bacon, the kind of meal that a mom might indulge her kid with or a teen standing alone in his kitchen would make before taking his dog on a walk just to feel normal.]
And on the flipside, that just makes me want to visit you more.
[he's a defiant person by nature]
no subject
[ Komaeda can't use that excuse on him all the time— Rokkun's already told him he's playing the waiting game until graduation or until something else forces his hand, but that's neither here nor there, letting Komaeda go help make the breakfast neither of them are going to eat because it's after school. ]
Both of you could probably stand to know comfortable silence. I don't mind company, but...
[ Don't talk to him? Don't interact with him. Don't try to reel him in and make him do things when he's already set on doing not those things. ]
no subject
( comfortable silence? he guesses that's one way to stay to themselves, mind their business, and maybe this wasn't the best time for komaeda to pick up a knife as he looks down at it. )
For that sort of silence, spilling blood is the only way.
( it's the aftermath of being trapped within the void for no one to bother you, he thinks as he taps the sharp end of the knife against the table. turning away, he's looking for the plates so that he can pass them out, and once he finds a large one, he holds it out for subaru to take.
as for what subaru does? well, rokkun did that to himself. )
no subject
... he's also going to take the knife.]
We're not spilling blood in the kitchen, Maddy, you're gonna contaminate the food.
[it wouldn't be quiet anyway... not with subaru and komaeda around...]
Roku-chan, do you just go straight home after school?
no subject
No. Sometimes I'll be working in the art clubroom, sometimes I'll leave school, but I don't go straight home. I spend time in the forest, mostly.
[ Since there's nothing for him at home. ]
no subject
with his knife taken away which is a shame, he no longer wants to help anymore since he's already retrieved a plate for them, so instead he looks towards rokkun at the mention of the forest. the symbolism is there, the meaning behind it, but he doesn't say anything on it, looking to the side now as if he doesn't understand the context. he walks back over to the other side the counter, and rather than just sitting back in his chair, he's trying to sit in rokkun's lap instead.
let him, he wants to see eye to eye with subaru anyway, and wants to block rokkun's field of vision. )
Ah, the forest... I'm actually quite excited about that, actually.
( since hikaru is going to go with him there, soon. he looks at the bacon and eggs, what toast that subaru has worked on, and he hums in thought. )
Are there any rivers nearby?
no subject
honestly jealous. he wishes he had someone to sit in his lap. heres ur fuckin food you gays]
We'd hear them, wouldn't we? Or maybe not, we didn't really have a river where I came from -- just the sea.
no subject
...There's a river, yeah. At least on my way home.
