FEBRUARY EVENT LOG/TDM
02/07 - 02/11 School Trip
✽ At 8AM sharp on Monday the 7th, all students are asked to gather in the auditorium to go over the school trip to Tokyo DisneySea; those who decide to stay at school, however, are instructed to attend school as normal and use their days as a study hall or free period. Those grades won't keep themselves up, after all.
✽ Those who are going on the field trip will be given the rundown: they'll be staying at DisneySea for five days and four nights, at the Hotel MiraCosta located inside the park. They'll be lead in lines to the front gate of the school, consciousness wavering as they pass through the open gates, and they open their eyes to find themselves in the parking lot of Tokyo DisneySea, sluggish and drowsy, as if they'd dozed off and had just awoken from a very, very long drive. Characters will have to wait in line for quite some time, with the rate of it moving at an achingly slow 0.00000005 miles per hour (or so it feels) before they're able to get their tickets to the park, a knife, and their complimentary map to guide the way.
✽ Welcome to Disney! DisneySea, to be precise! Made up of seven different port areas, it's a treat for those who enjoy the water—and one for those who don't as well, considering its expansive amount of land-locked attractions. The world is your oyster after you enter the Mediterranean Harbor with its Venetian gondolas and southern European charm, with the American Waterfront to your left and the Mysterious Island straight ahead. Past those are Port Discovery, Lost River Delta, Mermaid Lagoon, and the Arabian Coast—it's probably not doable in a day, so isn't it lucky you get to spend the a whole five days here instead? Characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Donald Duck, and so on and so forth can be found wandering the areas, with Ariel found specifically in the Mermaid Lagoon; the Genie, Aladdin, Jafar, and Jasmine in the Arabian Coast; and Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Geppetto, and the Fox in the American Waterfront. Get a picture and make some memories, because day light is burning, and it'll be closing time before you know it!
✽ Things take on a little bit of a twist when night falls; attractions refuse to work the right way, shadows seem to follow you wherever you go, and the cast members walking around seem a little more sharp-eyed and sharp-tongued than usual. The food tastes worse, as if it's spoiled rotten, and the water beneath the ports churns unsettlingly. All guests are ushered either out or to the hotel as the clock ticks closer to 9PM each day, with forcefully cheerful goodbyes and perhaps a little more pushing than necessary.
✽ Hotel MiraCosta is a gorgeous experience that's hauntingly devoid of people aside from those coming from Yogen, and even it isn't immune from the chilly atmosphere that sinks in around DisneySea when night falls: you might see glimpses of your home world but empty in the mirrors, or a shadowy figure with a knife poised ready to stab you in the back— and if you don't turn quick enough, that might just become your reality. In other reflective surfaces, like the shine of the floors or the water of a fountain gone still after hours, characters will find their worst fears on full display and reaching out to grab them; falling prey to this will put them temporarily in a fit, as if they're trapped in a nightmare. Other characters can wake them up, but if they're alone... Well, you better hope someone finds you soon: spending too long in the nightmare will have you seeing ghosts of those you miss and those you've wronged before. One will tempt you into going with them to the other side, while the other will make an attempt on your life. The pool isn't safe either: anyone swimming in the dark will find themselves at risk of drowning, feeling as if their feet have been caught by something or someone. Of course, the hotel is perfectly safe and ordinary in the day time, so you have nothing to worry about then! Night-time is just a different matter.
✽ For those who decide to investigate the park after hours will find the cast members remain long after the guests have left, and they make a sport of those who either stay past closing or who trespass on park grounds. Take care out there in DisneySea's version of The Most Dangerous Game— Mickey's got a gun, and he's not afraid to use it. Not every cast member will be out to get you though: the Genie, Donald and Daisy Duck, and the Fox will all help characters who need it... for a price. These can range from the absurd to the impossible to the cruel, though the Ducks tend to be nicer in their requests than the other two.
✽ And those shadows from before, attraction mishaps, and more? They'll still happen, and as the week's nights go on, it gets harder and harder to survive the park. Saw this and laughed, but good news, guys! The staff is here to help you out this time.
✽ Had enough of Disney? You can beg Add to take you to Russia instead.

02/12 - end of the month
✽ Wasn't that fun... With everybody reenergized after the school trip, classes continue as usual. Math is tough and philosophy is confusing, but after a gloomy overcast January, the sun is shining this month and it becomes harder and harder to resist just walking out the door and into the woods and never returning.
✽ Those who escape reality by running away from their problems will find that they are able to step past the tree line for the first time this school year, and that they can continue walking without bounds. The forest seems to go on and on and on without end, gradually sloping upwards the further away from the school but never seeming to reach a crest. Eventually, you may come across a river that runs nearby the school, shallow and calm in places and wide and rushing in others, with little piles of rocks along the riverbank as if of somebody trying to stack rocks as high as they can go. Scattered about the forest, characters may also come across much larger rocks, bound with rope and spread just far enough apart that you are able to see the next one when standing by the first, if you know where to look.
✽ Quiet and peaceful, the forest is otherwise full of life if you pay attention: you can hear the chirping of birds, small critters scuttling through the underbrush, the distant howl of wolves. If you're very still and quiet, you may be able to see some of the wildlife, and those that hunt them. When night falls, you may see little pinpoints of light floating around past the trees; they would be easy to mistake for fireflies if they did not glow a faint blue, the same shade as the flowers of the wisteria tree, and upon closer look appear to be butterflies fluttering low to the ground, feeding upon rotting carcasses and pools of blood.
✽ The trees are pine trees.
✽ At the end of the month, even if you've decided to go feral and live in the woods, all characters will be pinged on their PDAs:
@ everyone
Thank you. Your tuition has been collected.
followed by a list of names, which includes unlisted npcs but they don't get names so you just have to imagine.

✽ The park and hotel are completely normal during the daytime; it is only when night falls that it becomes a ...twisted wonderland.
✽ All characters will be forced to leave the school trip and return to school by evening of the 11th through a death in some way. Dying early returns you to school early, and if characters do not take care of it themselves, they will be taken out by an adorable Disney mascot or a Russian with a glock.
✽ Everybody participating in the school trip will find +1 tally on their left wrist upon returning to school. Characters who help others return by murdering them will receive +1 tally for each kill; please let the mods know so Alice can update the tally list.
✽ There are a couple of things to find inside the forest, so if your character is doing something or searching in a specific way that isn't blindly wandering, hit up the questions toplevel to see if they come across anything.
✽ Tuition has been collected. Don't worry about it.

It's a blank look look that replaces it behind that cheerful card - empty, disinterested, and perhaps even cruel, because what is happiness but a novelty to one raised on decay? He'll watch, as impassive as ever, to set see if it the loss is true or false. If it's true, he only need his perception wave reflexes - not bound by human limitations - to avoid it. If it is a simple sideshow, he need not worry. Then there's nothing to protect.
...
Then he's malf I malfunctioning, for Rio Ranger can tell illusions from reality just as quickly as he can move out of the aim of a gun - faster than a trigger can be pulled, because he's not human, but he's unlucky, so he might mess up his hard wiring too push his partner out of sight.
...
No one else matters. Just him and Komaeda. If it'll always be like this, then the rest of them can just ***
...
He wants better, so he shouldn't think such things. On to not dying then. Onto seeing if it's a game, or if he'll add another tally to a covered wrist.
If it comes to that... It's fine to kill a person who wants to kill your first, right?
Or perhaps to smash their legs and arms in such a way that they'll never be usable again.
Humans sure are fragile, aren't they...? ]

...
he's seen it all before, too familiar with their responses with every gunshot, and the only difference is that bear-like animatronics aren't ripping open their innards, nor is the raw, evocative smell of copper clinging to the air that makes it intoxicating. he's no different from rio as he stands in place, but komaeda's willing to take a step forward despite how others wish to turn tail and run.
there's someone in front of him, and he thinks of pulling rio along to bypass them since they're in the way. it's a short-lived thought as a bullet shoots from an unknown location to him, but for rio he can tell it's off in the corner to the far right by the door. there's no chance of a human dodging this bullet, there's a high chance for an ai to be guaranteed survival.
calculations or not, it's pure luck why one bullet strays towards them with a body of another individual before them. komaeda's not scared, instead, his adrenaline has raised, and he's just a little excited whereas rio comes off impassive from the exposure. he wants to let rio's hand go because he's not the same boy as before, he knows the dos and don't to survival from living selfish, and he wants to know who'll be the protagonist of this story.
there's a loud pop as the head of the person explodes with their body falling to the ground, and then small, red papers rain before them — it smells like blood, but it's not, it's sheets of confetti, but when it sticks to their person, rio can identify them immediately as they've been soaked in blood, then dried right after to keep the effect.
as komaeda holds a few pieces of confetti, he looks at rio with a wide smile. )
Hm?
( that said, he'll keep his hand in rio's own as he kneels down to check the body which is warm, but there's balloon like substance that makes the head. digging through what's on the floor, he seems to be looking for something amont the screams and shuffling of the people inside. )
no subject
Confetti? He blinks as he looks from the little papers to the body on the ground, nodding to Komaeda in response and leaving it to him to dig through it. It reminds him a bit of a doll, but it's not quite the same. He won't feel the way that Rio's grip tighens as he skims the remainder of the room before turning his attention back to the corner in which the shots had been coming from. It's a horror show, and it's not quite as expected. There's nothing charming about it, not like the charming stories of occult experiments gone wrong and other such things.
He dusts the confetti. He tries to say something, but it's impossible with all the noise, and he settles for shoving some hapless bystander who brushes against him to the floor. Even the noisy sigh that he lets out is hidden by the screams. Komaeda's luck will protect him, of that he's certain, and Rio's abilities will aide him well enough. His partner might pull his hand away soon enough, but Ranger doesn't mind that. He'll cover him. ]
Whatchya looking for?
[ He asks again, keeping his eyes fixed on his surroundings. Hopefully he'll at least be able to hear that much.
It's like a game. It's always just a cute little game that someone's playing, so it's not really scary at all. ]
no subject
and he does so, which happens to be a cute, golden card with small directions on it. he's played one of these before, and with rio by his side, he's able to hand it over properly. )
Here, you can see in the dark better than me.
( he can feel the markings on the card, and it's part of their clue to get to the actual right, he guesses. if rio looks it over, he'll see that it is in fact telling them to go left or right, and there's an "x" marks the spot, just like there would be in those ocean-adventuring movies. )
I don't expect this place to do things properly, so... it must be boring having to deal with us every year.
( especially if they loop, but do the people here loop? their eyes are normally yellow, so maybe not. which helps validate komaeda's next response as he stands up properly, pulling rio along so he can lean close to him and speak in his ear. )
We can take this as a new experience.
no subject
I guess you gotta make it interesting somehow.
[ He opens his mouth to say something else, but all that comes out is a confused little sound as Komaeda pulls him up and along only to speak directly into his ear. That's enough to alleviate the tension, the irritation mixing with a touch of embarrassment... He doesn't really mind it though. ]
Ahaha, you're right. Let's see where X gets us then.
[ He rubs the back of that prosthetic hand with his thumb. It can't be felt, but he does it anyway, before pulling him along to the left. His vision is as perfect as the rest of him, and so he should be able to identify it without much trouble. ]
no subject
there's nothing scary about gun shots, and blood, but those who are squeamish probably can't handle this at all. as they wander in the dark, they can near someone nearby talk about how this is just culling those who can take part in the ride, because that's when the climax of everything happens. while it sounds exciting, komaeda's practically jumping, but not in joy.
he's concerned about his luck, and he normally finds a carousel more exciting than this, but he knows rio wants to take part in everything, this isn't something he's done back home, and komaeda accepts it. if they have to play every attraction, then they will, and if there's no more tickets to go in, then he'll bargain if they can be the last two before they shut down. )
Which way does it say to go...?
( because rio sees better than him. )
no subject
He can't feel Rio's hand held tight in his own, nor the way he bumps against him, but he'll certainly feel the vibrations from that. His luck would probably end in disaster, but that was fine. Komaeda will be fine, and Rio... Well, he'll figure something out. He has no choice after being told so often that he has to stay alive until Komaeda decides to kill him. It's not much consolation, but it's something. It's not much, but it's better than being alone, right?
For now he looks at the card again with a small frown. ]
It just says left or right... What do you think?
no subject
the two choices that they have is small, a 50/50 that only speaks right or wrong, and there's no third option in it. there wouldn't be any tricks, but only a path that stops them in their tracks. they must have been the only set to gain this card, and the other's not having one yet aside from the duo they heard, but an idea comes to mind. he doesn't understand how tight rio holds onto him, how his fingers will caress the prosthetic of his hand. he knows nothing, and that's why he's able to let the doll's hand go. )
We'll separate.
( one goes left, and the other goes right. that's probably the name of the game, and his head turns to look at rio. )
no subject
'Kay, let's do it. I'll go left. You go right.
[ He quickly tilts his head to the left, then the right, before setting out toward the former. He shoves some hapless bystander out of the way as he goes along, finding that his patience for others being in the way is wearing thinner and thinner. No matter how much time passes, it seems as though the nerves and paranoia that allowed him to be so guarded never really fade. It's difficult for him not to feel tense now for more than the noise and crowds, and a part of him is waiting for the hidden trap to go off. It's an amusement park and not a facility, though, a cute little game.
He focuses on the game, pretending that it doesn't further work at his nerves. Just as always, those feelings are mixed with curiosity and even a hint of excitement. X marks the spot, he tells himself, and so time to find X. It can't be that hard. ]
no subject
his hands slip into the jacket's pockets, his left foot moves first before his right while walking down the path told to him.
rio's path is complete darkness, there's no light, but the sound of people's voices are evident. as long as he keeps going, he'll come to a room that has a single, red tile in the middle on the floor that's in the shape of a square, half the size of someone's foot.
it's bright, the only thing anyone can see in the room. someone mutters about "that's new", but there's nowhere else to go but back? will anyone be brave to touch the spot? )
roll: 17 - did a high or low to see how he'd handle this and the dice sure spoke
Of course, there's other options, such as killing everyone, but those are boring and not worth anyone's time. No... now that he thinks of it, the most fun option of all would be to plant such an obvious trap, only to hide something else in an unrelated portion of the room. Or to turn this entire room into a cage, or something cute like that. There's too many options, and Rio looks around again. His night vision isn't so bad that he shouldn't be able to see anything.
Up, down, and all around. What is it? What's hiding from him...? He really hates guessing games. Those are the sort that instinct tells him not to play at all.
If he sees anything, it might certainly give him pause. But if not, it'll be enough for him to remind himself that it's certainly his paranoia speaking. This isn't ASUNARO, after all. All the same, he'll gamble on the first option. With a mumbled excuse me, he'll bump the person closest to that tile straight onto the cute little red tile. With that, he'll strain his senses once more to see if he can't detect anything. ]
no subject
at this point, rio will hear a soft static sound that no one else will pay attention to, as the red tile starts to glow on other tiles away from the area that it just was. the sound will start to sound clearer to the ai, considering this isn't meant to be heard by human ears. as the tile now becomes red under someone's shoe, they hope back, saying they felt something hot under their shoe— though they only left it there for a few seconds.
blue orbs appear on the wall, even two on the ceiling that may or may not be for show, along with blue squares placed on the ground around the floor— rio can tell that the room isn't just a square, but it turns at one corner, and the blue lights on the wall remain lit up until one of the participants hit their back up against one, it turning off, and the red tile on the floor becoming two placed together that snakes along on the ground.
it touches another person that's sitting down, connecting with their hand, and they jump in pain, hissing—
rio will be able to tell that there's an electric shock behind it, and that it gets stronger with every blue light that's removed from the game. not only that, there's green panels on the floor that the red panels avoid while moving around, so it puts someone in the mind of don't touch the hot lava.
on komaeda's end...
...
did you want to make him a game, i had one but he rolled a 4 and you'd kill me, )
no subject
Ah, well, if it seems to be too much he can always use someone else for the task. Regardless, he doubts they'll get anywhere if he leaves it to others. He doesn't want to be here all day either, and so he'll start working his way around the corner, careful to avoid any red while taking the time to stomp out any blue squares along his way. It's quick and efficient, a task well suited for an AI. He really hates dealing with other people, though - noisy, in the way, always causing trouble.
...
On Komaeda's end, the hallway will see a sudden shift in atmosphere. There are dingy black white tiles scattered about the floor, and patches of inky darkness scattered about every third of the way. Low bulbs hang down illuminating the visible patches, and yet, those patches of darkness remain hidden. Those patches seem to absorb all light, as even a participant using a flashlight on their phone does nothing to illuminate the space beneath it.
The door that they filtered through has already clicked shut and locked, but there's one at the end that has a light hovering above it. It's a simple enough endeavor, as one only need to take a leap of faith in passing through, except -
Except when one takes a misstep, and slips. There's a scream, a sickening crunch, followed by panicked whispers and attempts at prying open a stuck door. There should be no death, of course - this is just a game, and any pretense is just for show, just sound effects and displays to frighten those who remain. But it's a puzzle, and one that a person must solve to make it to the main attraction. It's easy enough, of course - just take every step carefully, just ease forward while mindful of what's beneath them. It's a fun little game of chance and care. ]

down to his knees, he reaches out into the darkness, lowering his hand to feel the open space, or if the wide stretch of darkness is one half painted black, and the other side having nothing there. it can be a mind game, or this is actually a test of both strength and luck— komaeda is just a normal, human adult, and using energy to jump past isn't part of what he wants to do. if he has to though, then he will, but he wants to exhaust all over options. it's a game, so maybe there's something more to it, and if not, then he understands.
turning around, he walks up to one of the lucky individuals, the light of their aglow before his eyes. he's inviting, the way empty eyes look at the other with his own immediate interest, and rather than speak on the matter at hand, he'll swipe the fun out from their hand. it's with the shock, and wanting their phone back, that they jump forward, tackling komaeda's down as he holds up the phone away from them— just like how he treats rio when he tries to take something out of his hand.
on the floor, just where he wants to be, but there's a scream, which catches the person on top of him off guard by looking around. in response, he raises his hand up even more until he drops the phone down into the darkness of where someone previously fell to check how far it goes. yeah, him and his buddy are going to watch the drop.
...
this game is meant a game to do with people, because rio will find that even clicking one blue button that it doesn't click, but once someone comes behind him annoying for playing around by not clicking it, the second hit registers. it gives the idea that so many hands need to click on the lights, and that would make sense because it can't make things easy for them, no, because if rio could do this alone, then there's be no need for everyone else.
the red tile adds a third, and then a fourth, until it widens to two sections with four tiles on both, and the speed grows faster, zipping around trying to latch onto whoever is touching an unlit tile. someone isn't lucky as they jump, tripping over their own shoelaces as they fall to their knees. as they attempt to push themselves up, the red tiles light up under their hands, and the shock is stronger, hotter, as the smell of burnt flesh wafts in the air with a piercing scream.
pulling her hands up, there's a disgusting sound of flesh ripping off her hand, and quickly scrambling to her feet, she hits a blue button that now glows a muddy brown from her palm bleeding. )
