( oh wow, a tough cookie... but it's okay, komaeda will get in that jar somehow. so he's going down about three steps properly until he stops, and waits for natsume to walk beside him at least because he wants to make sure nothing bad happens. he already saw another flight of steps demolished by his luck, and he can't help anything happen to these or else natsume will lose his date, and a limb. )

( the counter is easy, because it's true - of course, then he should be more on the classroom side. he follows komaeda a few steps after, pausing when he does until he realizes he wants to walk ~beside one another~ and sighing shortly, continuing his movement so that they can, indeed, walk together properly. )

Plenty more than you HAVE. ( not that that's going to hurt komaeda's feelings at all, but he's just saying. ) Not that I have to defend myself or anyTHING, but I generally play nice with peoPLE, and through that they like ME. It's an important skill to have in my TRADE.

( he already knew that, and yes, komaeda limits his friendships already. he could lie and be buddy-buddy with them lie natsume actively does, but he'd rather just be by himself really. besides, his views never mesh really well with others, so connections tend to fall short. he hums in thought, finally making it down the flight with natsume. )

Even if you're disliked, they'll still come if you're useful and effect their hope in some way, that's why I don't mind if everyone hates me.

( natsume pauses at the last step, tilting his head with a frown. he doesn't like the way komaeda says it; he doesn't like the way komaeda says anything, actually, but. )

Actually I'm happy to see the hope of others, to see you all grow into something magnificent... in the beginning people were lost and confused... and now there's a goal in mind.

( he smiles, not even correcting natsume because he's not wrong, but it is true that komaeda's more focused on the others here than himself. if it's for hope, he'll die, if it's for hope, he'll do everything that he must to see them prevail. he doesn't assist hope that's low as despair, or the kind that's given up — like natsume, his is stronger than others, so komaeda would do as much as he can for it. )

Isn't that why you play nice, Sakasaki-kun? To be wanted by others, to bless them with your hope for the right price? It's a give and take relationship, which is right, because you can't just have a hopeful future for free... you must act to deserve.

( so he's happy to be someone's tool, as long as it serves the greater hope. natsume steps down onto the flight and doesn't deign the rest of that with a reply, because — it isn't completely untrue, but like hell is he going to open his mouth and give komaeda more ammo. he's learning! he's learning. )

( he'll do what he can, because by the time they make it to the ground floor, natsume will see there's water seeping from under the stairwell's doors. not only that, it seems to be a pinkish color to indicate that something isn't right, but the sound of "rain" is louder now. komaeda reaches out, pushing the door open, but it doesn't budge. he looks towards the other, chuckling sheepishly as if this isn't part of his plan. )

as long as it gets taken care of before tomorrow, it's probably fine. natsume stares at the pinkish water and steps into it, joining komaeda by the door to help push it. may as well get this over with and accept his hubris for what it is. )

( komaeda wasn't pushing as hard as he could, instead, he wanted natsume to take part in the effort so he could let up some of his weight to allow the other the bulk of it. there's something notable in front of the door, but because of the water covering the floor whatever it is moves with ease — hopefully natsume's not putting all his weight into this, because as the door flies open...

there might be a dead body laying on the ground that he could accidentally trip over and fall into the water if he's not careful!

aside from that, all the sprinklers have gone off, and the pink-tinged water rains down like an actual shower. komaeda laughs softly, holding out his arms like he's offering the setting over to natsume for him to have. )

( oh, so that's what was making it so heavy. natsume is distracted from the scene momentarily by the dead body; it isn't anyone he knows, but it's a little repulsive to be this close to a corpse. to have nearly tripped over it, even.

( :) once there, komaeda searches for what natsume wanted, but he sees that it's all sold out, so he gets him something close to his desires. something green and something bread. he gets him some watered down version of this and a plastic wrapped chip buddy. )

( the water continues to rain down, and around them there's a few indents here and there from where ball monokuma ran into things. aside from that, the body down the hall is sliding along the water, and it's mouth parts almost like it's gasping for breath, but you know... can they even see that? some weird shit is going on over there, but this ain't about the corpse, this is about natsume. )

he'd only meant to grant one anyway, but it hadn't even been the one he sought, because he hadn't fulfilled the requirements. some magician of happiness he is - you can't please everyone either, though. )

( komaeda knows that natsume is skilled in his craft when it comes to making bombs and the like, and he still finds that sort of thing useful. bomb the yogenment, he thinks. he won't press for it just yet, instead, he'll think of something else related to the date that they can do. he gave him rain — the cool, pink tinge that's better than the summer heat is a nice way to relax. )

We can go back and forth on ideas... I'm thinking a funeral would be interesting.
