Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

( he speaks like he's interested, and he watches the way the other draws away from him. it's not the first time that's happened with a person, and he stares for a moment before nodding to himself.

( not that the keychains and rocks aren't enough, they probably do their job, but komaeda hasn't seen it work. the person he wants to protect, the hope he wants to ensure will survive...

[ Komaeda wouldn't know who to go to or where, so npc-kun embraces that topic change, even if they didn't want to do anything. ]

Yeah! [ Now that people's bones aren't snapping in half, they're free to trot down the hall, turning around backwards so they can watch Komaeda catch up. ]

( he'd go talk to the janitor or the principal, one of them have to have the lore of binding their lives to this school. besides, komaeda's like 23, he should be able to live his life. )

( quick, to the point, and the fruit that's on his mind that'll give the beverage a pretty good taste, he thinks. now whether npc-kun knows what that is... )

[ Durian is delicious but cutting one open is such a pain, they're spiky and poky and npc-kun is not about that. ]

What do you mean "vetoed", that's what I want?

( actually, komaeda doesn't even want that... it was just the first thing that came to mind. )

[ how I had to google this and I've eaten it before and was disappointed, the flavor is so light, anything else will overpower it, and it doesn't have much going for it in terms of juice either. ]

No. Do you hate coconut milk?

[ Because if Komaeda likes it, or even marginally tolerates it, he's going to have a coconut base drink. ]

( NOOOO how the man on tiktok lied to me he said it was good, but i went to rewatch it, and i should have felt the liar vibes. )

I'm not against it, I was thinking a Durian would work better, though.

( is that a good answer? it allows npc-kun to use milk as a base, but... there's so many other fruits that komaeda could list off. )

[ It's a very pretty fruit and I went !!! when I first cut it open and then I went ... when I tasted it. Coconut and durian sounds like it would be good, though... I love durian and it's a pity npc-kun's waffling on this. ]

Maybe, but they don't have it. If you want me to make you something today, it has to be with whatever ingredients are already here. Curry is a staple for cooking classes, so there will definitely be coconut milk.

( that's how i feel, it looks so pretty, and now i'm just like... why did god make that pathetic fruit, the most despairing. if only npc-kun would believe in komaeda's random fruit choices, then they would have a pretty good drink! )

I wonder if there's durian outside.

( you know, maybe gardener grew one, and just never told anyone? wouldn't that be lucky of them... they'd just have to go out there and check. )

If that's all you have, it's fine, but that doesn't mean we can't use what we have at our disposal. Like... sweetgum balls.

( me, i'm crying, i thought they just existed to get on my nerves honestly... i don't know... but komaeda put acorns on a cake and tried to feed it to hinata.. so it's fine.

all the food he makes is inedible with very nonsensical ingredients (for example, in 2014's christmas tweet, he is asked to make bûche de noël, but instead, he makes some sort of cake out of nothing but whipped cream and pinecones).

so it's fine, he'd probably still eat ... the gumballs. )

[ please, coconuts and walnuts are subtle sweet and cinnamon is there because it smells nice and they felt that a two ingredient drink looks lazy. Bitter, though... ]

[ ugh... just imagining the taste makes them wrinkle their nose and shudder. Goya with chili, garlic, soy sauce, black beans... The first bite is delicious and all subsequent bites make them want to cry.

But they're not the one drinking this, so it's fine. ]

I actually like salty flavors compared to sweet, but bitter isn't bad... so yes, that would be fine.

( this will be elizabeth's beverage that they will name after her, and npc-kun will sell it, that's what this is about. she'll be the judge of this, because i'm pretty sure komaeda would do the little cinnamon challenge and just choke, so don't have it near him. )

You have to make it blue, or it won't count.

( as if npc-kun knows what's going on in komaeda's head, and it's actually nothing, but he'll keep following them until they make it to the home ec area. )

[ Blue... It had to be the most unnatural food color, huh? But there's going to be food coloring if people bake in here, and while they think blue would eradicate any chance of anything looking appetizing, this is going to be a drink so appearances don't matter. ]

[ They go to the kitchen and start looking for ingredients. Goya... chili... garlic, soy sauce, black beans... cooking oil, a frying pan... a checkered red and white apron with apple pockets, because you can't cook if you don't look cute. ]

( not the apple pocket apron that has the slippers with the fur (the fur!).

he's going to find a chair to sit down at, taking a seat, and crossing his legs as he watches npc-kun dress up, they must take this seriously. like a fantasy life, and it's quite surprising considering he's used to seeing them behind a counter, dead-eyed on cash and nothing else. )

Lard would be a good substance to mix it, it'll be thick... like a smoothie.

( and he says this genuinely, because he's done this before. )

It would melt in the heat and not be so thick. But I can use some in place of the oil, to add a little more flavor.

[ A little stepstool dragged in front of the stove so they can be taller and avoid the stiff shoulders they'd otherwise get with the constant mixing.

Because yeah, they're making stir fry. Which is going to go in a blender with juice pressed out of some extra goya and a few drops of blue food coloring until it's passably blue and not green-brown. A couple of fermented black beans get sprinkled on top to be fancy, like how coffee drinks sometimes have those coffee beans, but also because Komaeda said he likes salty things and these are pretty salty on their own.

Essentially it's ugly blue soup. ]
