[ He frowns because yes, he did wake up in a hospital and immediately got out of bed and tried to walk, and maybe that's why recovery has been as much of a struggle as it still is. Was that better? He tried, and did not like what he got. ]

Sure is. Anyways, no, I didn't want to be a doctor. I'm no good with living things, so I'm not particularly interested in working with them.

...I never paid much attenTION. ( subaru would notice, he's sure, but natsume has never been one to remember faces unless he has a name and something about them to link to it.

he might have to start, though. just for a few weeks. ) I'm glad the ones I do pay attention to haven't disappeared THOUGH. It's a little sappy of ME, but I think I'd be upset if they DID.

You don't have to think about it. I'm going to give you hope, because I've got lots and lots of it!

[ They turn so they can lift and present what they have so far of the birdhouse to Komaeda, pushes it into his hands so he can hold it. Look at that sturdy workmanship and praise them. ]

What's important?

[commences]

( the birdhouse doesn't give him hope, but his laugh is sheepish as he looks over the craftsmanship of it, and how it looks pretty decent for something that's going to go outside.

he ignores what npckun said at first though, just so he can speak about the birdhouse in general now: )

[ Pretty... It's so pretty, and the amount of thought and care that goes into every little thing has her sitting quietly, wide eyes watching Subaru's hands as little by little everything comes together. ]

...looking at it makes me happy. Now I have someplace people will come back to and remember me! Onii-chan will see that I'm okay, so it'll be okay if I leave now.

[ WHAT IS A DOLICHO... oxtail... they're thinking oxtail soup, which is delicious, but this is pretty much what they expected from poetry. They really don't get it at all.

they turn in his arms, so they can wrap him up in their arms as well, adding to his song- ]

Inanimate objects don't get jealous.

[ Still, she looks away, eyes up at the night sky, sitting up with legs tucked to one side and quiet like Natsume isn't even there. Hiro would have loved this. He'd be the one lying flat on his back like Natsume is, hands folded over his stomach and watching the stars fall out of the sky until there aren't any left or he'd falling asleep waiting. ]

[leave now, huh... he wonders if that is what he thinks it is and slouches a little, thinking of natsume's fondness for her and how lonely she must be in a library people read in without being able to see or hear her. he's happy she likes it, and he's happy that she doesn't have to worry about whoever her brother is worrying about her.]

I'm glad it tickles your fancy, Harupyon~. What's your onii-chan like? Does he go here?

[ When Komaeda returns to check up on the spot, he finds the beads scattered across the ground and a fluffy white tail poking out from underneath the loose floorboard.

... ]

[apparently its some kind of vine. he has no idea tbh but that's how the poem goes-- and when it's turned around on him, literally and physically, he grins and nuzzles close. it's less songy, but still has the lilt of the rhythm before.]

And here your stars will stay, watchin' you night and day.

[not quite the same, but it's fine. he'll hold them tight, one of those forever hugs they both love.]

I missed you so much, Keigo... I wanted to come back sooner, but I was sorta scared.

[commences]

( you know when i wrote this i thought to myself what if lily may appeared, closes my eyes...

...

he's going to coax the fluffy white tail out... is that you... lily may... do you like the taste of mushrooms now... )

[ It probably happened, more times than he'd like to think, but that's not meeting, is it? ]

In the art room, wasn't it? You and Izumi were harassing Chiaki.

[ And Komaeda had called his name and gotten his hopes up for nothing. ]

( The stars fall one by one, a faint twinkling noise undercurrenting the night noise in the field, and despite the risk of cybersickness, Natsume peeks open his eyes and turns enough to watch her.

Just for a little bit, her profile backed by the sky's brilliance and the streaks that start to multiply until they're hundreds in number, little white lines like an artist hatching out shadows with white charcoal. He wonders why she came, and why she's here now, and if she's going to stay after; if he's going to be able to move onto the next part of his plans, if he'll hold her hand for more than a few moments, and his hand almost moves before he grounds it again. He wonders if she knows she's pretty cute when she's pretending he's not next to her when she was being cute about him not being there in the first place, valid concerns about the strangeness of being watched or not, and he wonders if she knows he thinks she's pretty when she's the one thing out of place against the twinkling sky.

And then he feels a little ill, so he closes his eyes again to wait for it to pass in quiet. )

Yeah, we were... what was it like at that moment for you? ...Was it terrifying?

( they were students who didn't believe anything, but also students who believed the art club was cursed for using blood as paint.

maybe rokkun didn't want to be pointed out, or maybe it would have been best if komaeda didn't bother him. it's just little things he wants to hear since they're talking. )

[adsum]

[ The tail flicks when he touches it, and the cat stirs, floorboard bumping up with the movement. Mrrr... All the mushrooms are gone. ]

[commences]

( he's going to pick her up because what is she doing here, but he knows he can't hold her for long periods of time, so after setting her down beside the floorboard... he'll peek inside to see if there's anything left and then fix it back. )

[adsum]

[ She sensed Komaeda leaving food out for somebody who wasn't her, so she came to correct that. There's nothing left inside but the quickly dissipating body warmth of a snoozing cat who was rudely awakened and payback is flopping down on Komaeda's shoes to continue her nap. ]

[commences]

( not how she felt wronged by his sins, and because she's on his shoes, he'll sit down. legs bent to his chest, and arms crossed on top of his knees, komaeda sighs softly. )

Lily May...

( well that's a bust in seeing if these mushrooms could be good currency. his tongue brushes against the back of his teeth, contemplating yanking one out to place in instead — another set of currency lily may can't eat (hopefully).

reaches out to rub up from her nose to her forehead, scritch. )

[ The mushrooms are great currency... for attracting hungry cats. Also I scritched Lily's nose and kissed her on the head and she looked up at me and yawned in my face with her kibble breath, this what happens to Komaeda too ]

[commences]

( her mushroom breath... and he wishes this wasn't happening, but komaeda taps her nose softly. please give lily another kiss from ME.

he's going to put the beads into the floorboard because at least she didn't eat those, and he's wondering if he should leave a note. )

What do you think? Should I leave something here [ ... ] that isn't food?

[ Maya looks over to say something but sees that Natsume's eyes are closed and she looks away again, after a moment, because thinking the same will also make her ill. So she thinks other things instead while the sky brightens around her, like why she doesn't want to be here, and why she wants to stay, and why this is a terrible idea, and how it's more thoughtful than she imagined this day would go. Because it's beautiful. Breathtaking, quiet, peaceful, a place you would love to stay in forever and forget about the fact that you're a student in a school where everybody is pitted against each other in the worst of ways.

And that's the problem. Her problem with illusions and white lies and momentary happiness.

[ The cat swishes her tail in irate disagreement. No, he should leave food in here, so she can come and eat said food. ]
