...It's FINE. I sometimes forget that I'm considered "alive" HERE, despite what we all ultimately and actually ARE. ( It's fine to get a reminder........ it is. ) I'll just stay on the ground for NOW, Kazuki-san, unless you have any tricks to teach me to stay aWAKE.
no subject
[ ? ?? this is like asking him to give tips on breathing or hearing, it's just something that happens that you don't ever think about ]
no subject
Well, he'll sit up at least. )
...You were saying something before I almost killed myself THERE. What was IT?
no subject
The flowers will fall when they are released from the tree. It is not inherently a bad thing: when a soul is to return, it must also let go.
no subject
( ...odd timing for them to appear all the same, but he doesn't feel like there's technically be any more than usual. To let go...
Well, more things here are metaphorical than not, actually. He blinks slowly, thinking. )
Or do you mean to LIFE?
no subject
[ Like, outside of our mini-events, people die here and there in the background. It's just not made a spectacle of, and almost all of the npc faces are plain and generic, easy to fade into the background and if they're replaced by somebody else, who can tell?
There are always 300 students in the school. ]

...I never paid much attenTION. ( subaru would notice, he's sure, but natsume has never been one to remember faces unless he has a name and something about them to link to it.
he might have to start, though. just for a few weeks. ) I'm glad the ones I do pay attention to haven't disappeared THOUGH. It's a little sappy of ME, but I think I'd be upset if they DID.
no subject
Natsume: I don't know them ]
Such thoughts and feelings are quite normal. Keep your friends close, lad.
no subject
He watches Kazuki, thinking, and- )
There's only so much I can DO, Kazuki-san. No matter how vigilant I might BE, or how much time I spend with THEM... Somehow I keep losing THEM. ( or he fears losing them, since murder is unstoppable—if only magic could fix that. ) It isn't FAIR.
( ... )
But I already knew THAT. Nothing's ever FAIR. ( That's just how things are. ) If only I could see a little into the fuTURE...

People die. It is inevitable. In a place like this, where people's time is cut short through the selfishness of others, it may seems so, but ]
Life is not unfair. It is simply life. Even with foresight, you cannot be everywhere, for everybody. But it is still important that you are there, sharing what time you can have together.
no subject
Even when it doesn't matTER?
no subject
Everything matters.
no subject
It's also nice to hear it from someone who's ancient. Even if that someone wants to take a nibble on students. )
Ahaha... Thank YOU. I've been... ( ... ) No, never MIND. What do you do with the pruNINGS?
( moving RIGHT OFF the existential express. )
no subject
[ He's used to teaching little kids who use "never mind" as playing coy when they actually want to talk about something but only because you insist ]
no subject
I've been thinking about what comes after all THIS. If we don't remember who or what we ARE, what's the point in forming BONDS? Does it matter if I spend time with someONE, if we're just going to part ways and possibly never meet aGAIN? And yet...
( ... )
I don't mind the people I've met HERE. ( Which is a little bit of an understatement, but Natsume has a hard time speaking frankly about his feelings, sometimes. ) In FACT, I don't regret the time I spend with them at ALL, and I'd like to think in some small way it might affect them anyway once we've left this school beHIND.
( yet an unspoken "but" hangs after that sentence, related to the first part of his thinking. but what if it doesn't matter, because of all that? ... )
It's stupid to worry aBOUT. ( Especially as he's both a second year, and graduation isn't exactly guaranteed anyway. Not exactly. ) That's why I said never MIND.
no subject
[ And it's not a worry unique to him, for all the students that have passed in and out of these school gates through the years ]
It is a question many ask themselves at some point in their lives, what is the point of anything, when it is all lost in the end? And the point is this, lad: you are not yet at the end.
[ So stop it with this existential crisis ]
no subject
...Thank YOU. ( ...though
speaking of people who are, technically, perhaps: ) Kazuki-san, do you... would you consider yourself at the end of your LIFE?
no subject
Truthfully, I do not know. I have lived, and sinned, enough that if my life must be extinguished then I will not fight it. At the same time, I wish to watch over my students as long as I am able to... and when the time comes that I am no longer able to, I expect to become naught but the essence of the forest from which I was originally given form.
no subject
I was just thinkING, if you wanted to move ON, I'd like to help YOU. You've helped me quite a lot with my thoughts--it would be only fair for me to assist you in reTURN. Dead or ghost or otherWISE, no one deserves to stay trapped in a plane of existence for too LONG.
no subject
[ ... ]
But when the time comes, lad, would you be capable of killing me?
no subject
shuts it and thinks about it, really thinks about it. It's difficult, killing people you like; but it wouldn't be the first time. He pushes himself to standing, brushing dirt off of his clothes as he thinks about what it would entail—the steeling of his heart, the ability to fight a spirit, the silence of the courtyard in the aftermath.
The loneliness. )
...If you ask me TO. ( It's hard for him to say, but he looks up at Kazuki and says it anyway; it sounds difficult for him to say, too, the words hesitantly falling from his lips. ) I wouldn't refuse YOU.
no subject
Still, there's that part of him that wants to spend his final moments with the students he cherishes, rather than being struck down by fear and anger. A Korosensei death would be the ideal, actually. ]
I appreciate that greatly, lad. But I hope also that it does not come to that, and I will be here to know you have found peace and acceptance, and have moved on.
no subject
That's lonely in its own way, but it's one he prefers. Even if he can—even if he would, if asked—he would rather not.
He's found he isn't that fond of killing, no matter what his biting threats might say. )
I appreciate THAT. ( More than the other knows, maybe. ) ...So what do you do with the pruNINGS?
( Back to the question he tried to swerve with, )
no subject
[ And somehow they find their way into the shopkeep's hands, who passes them off in exchange for big bucks ]
no subject
Ah. ( That's nice, he supposes. Hmm... ) You can grow more wisteria trees from their cuttings, corRECT? I remember reading about it ONCE.
( glad he's a gardenia member... he can just know gardening stuff now... me sitting on google at all times )
Have you ever planted any more of THESE?
