09/12, Kazuki
[ Just in case of what
They will want to be aware of the weight of what they grow on the roof, how deep the roots will burrow, how to keep the plants from burning in the direct sunlight, all these little things Kazuki remembers teaching to his students, on their little plot on the ground. Such advice would likely be unwarranted, so he offers none, trusts they will come with questions if they need any answered.
He was always around back then, but now... ]
During the night I come, and leave before dawn. During the day, I exist in the eternal darkness of the forest.
[ His home. Much of his being bound here was always by choice, but whether it's in the courtyard or in the forest, he always stays close. ]
no subject
Ah, is that SO... Then I'm not sure if you'd be able to answer my quesTION. ( ... ) I'll ask anyWAY.
Did you notice anyone around the pool building earlier toDAY? Or anytime toNIGHT, after the rest of us LEFT.
( ...sometimes criminals go back to the scene of the crime he's doing his best. And he knows a blind girl so he's sure Kazuki must be able to use one of his leftover senses to assist if he bothers to pay attention. )
no subject
[ Just going to assume most people who were there wouldn't swim in the pool after learning what it's supposed to be ]
Most do not swim at night, I would imagine. The last I have noticed anybody enter the building was the night prior.
no subject
That would be during the sleepover, I supPOSE... ( :/ lavaswimmers. ) Were you able to tell how many of THEM?
no subject
[ Five at the time of writing this tag and seeing who's in the lava post, but if more people join in, pretend Kazuki said whatever that number is. ]
Late into the night, more came. They did not speak, so I do not know how many, but one of them smelled of this. [ holds up the bunch of lavender Natsume had set in his lap ] Among other things. Members of your gardening club, perhaps?
no subject
And Stephanie got on him about murdering people and trying to cover it up, instead of just talking to people to see if there were other options, so it probably isn't her. )
The lavender's only recently started to come into BLOOM, some quicker than oTHERS. ( really, they should figure a good place to transplant them, seeing as lavender can get fairly tall. Thoughts for another time, he can play good co-leader later. It doesn't dismiss anyone though... Natsume shakes his head to clear it, alright. ) I'll check with those in my club when I CAN.
( bout to make a callout post on the meeting—
"Among other things..." )
Ah... ( hmmmmm. ) Kazuki-san, could you describe the other SMELLS? It's fine if not—I've been working on cinching together a more concrete timeLINE, but I suppose it isn't that big of a dealbreaker if you CAN'T.
( a timeline... an idea of who to talk to... grasping at straws all the time. )
no subject
Where Kazuki lacks sight, he makes up for it with his other senses— while they weren't voices he could identify, the smells... ]
...peppermint, and chamomile. Something chemical I am not used to in the natural world. [ cleaning solution, likely, from how strongly the smell still lingered when everybody investigated the pool ]
A while after that, the unpleasant smell of burnt flesh. I finished up my rounds, and left for the night.
no subject
Kazuki arrives at night, and leaves at dawn, so that means something happened in the space between that second group arriving with the cleaning solution and the herbs, and the smell of burning flesh before the sun rose. From what Subaru had recounted, there was chalk and candle stubs in the pool building, too... They hadn't been doing a ritual, had they?
...They do have an (unofficial) occult club; he's banned from joining it for murderer reasons, or he had been when it was being talked about by Clamor and Lucifer. Natsume blinks after a few moments, aware he's been quiet for some time, and pushes himself to standing. )
Thank YOU, Kazuki-san. You've been a great help to ME. ( ...he plays with the stone, looking off to the pool building, and holds it out. ) There isn't anything special about this thing, is THERE?
( he can't discount anything right now. )
no subject
[ PLEASE he's blind ]
no subject
He drops the rock into Kazuki's lap too. )
A stone—one of three I found in a corpse's pockET.
no subject
[ Why the fuck do people keep giving him rocks.
He holds it back out to Natsume, he does not want the corpse rock, thank you, there is nothing particular to say about it. ]
no subject
he will pocket it again, okay. )
...Disappointed but not surPRISED. ( ...a smile, so Kazuki can feel it in his voice even if he can't see it: ) The courtyard looks lovely as eVER, and the wisteria tree—
( the soul tree, now that he can see the hitodama. It's a little... )
You take such good care of THEM. I'm sure it makes them hapPY. ( Rest in peace, Chiaki. ) If I plant something around your gardening SPACE, I'll make sure it isn't too in your WAY.
no subject
[ gotta keep the tree nice and healthy or else all the souls will spill out onto the ground and then who knows what'll happen to them ]
What do you plan on planting? The lavender?
no subject
( Though lavender should be fine on the roof—it needs full sun and well-drained soil, the latter of which he can figure out... )
I tested some tea made from the flowers around here on a willing participant and found the results ( disgusting ) interesTING, though slow-worKING...
( ...hmmm. )
People who ingest what's grown down here over a prolonged period of time begin to suffer symptoms of iron poisonING. It's unusual for plants to cause that type of thing—generally speakING, it's found more commonly in people who exceed the recommended dosage of iron supplements in some way—so I'd like to find out how and WHY.
no subject
Do you plan to make poison of the chamomile?
no subject
( ...A genuine question, Natsume tilting his head before he moves so he can lean against the tree, too. )
I don't like murder, to be hoNEST. ( He turns his face up to the flowers, the moon, the star; his eyes close. ) It's something I'll do if I have TO, if I feel like I have TO, but it isn't like it's my first CHOICE.
( He just... has violent threats, and that's all they are. Would he actually act on them? ... )
"All things are poison, and nothing is without poison; the dosage alone makes it so a thing is not a poison." Sola dosis facit veneNUM. That's what I'm thinkING.
no subject
[ Not when there's no act yet, and maybe not even then. With the seeds he'd given Nene on their first meeting, he is very familiar with the phrase and how the plants are something that can help just as much as hurt.
What's a small dose of iron poisoning supposed to help, though, unless somebody is anemic or something ]
I will help tend to your plants on the nights you aren't able to, but keep in mind that this courtyard is a public space.
no subject
And that anyone can take some if they please—I know THAT. ( ... ) I'll figure something out before I plant THEM. I wouldn't want anyone to accidentally kill someone or themselves just because they wanted some TEA.
...Thank you for the assisTANCE. ( And he means for everything tonight, it was... extremely helpful. He has some ideas. ) Kazuki-san, when you were aLIVE, did you have a favorite DISH?
( Since it's only right to offer that kind of thing to the dead... light some incense sticks and set it out for his ghost friend pspsps )

[ stares at the sky ]
Although, it would not be accurate to say I was ever "alive," in the way you are. Has nobody told you what I am?
no subject
( but kazuki has been reasonably nice to natsume, and also hasn't tried eating him, so. )
no subject
Neither are wrong. I am a monster, who has slaughtered and eaten countless people in my days.
no subject
yeah, he doesn't act like one. )
You can't be that BAD. Those with wicked hearts are incapable of growing anything beautiFUL.
no subject
[ Like sometimes you spend an entire school year raising a group of children and watching them grow and learn and play and you're so proud of them, and then you eat them. ]
no subject
But— ( ...a huff. no, he knows, it's just hard to think of people you respect as bad. ) I'll conCEDE.
( .................he hasn't been a good child all his life either, even if it isn't as bad as "eating people" )
