Nope, I've got nothing but praise! Boss is super friendly, super cute, and I'm always looking forward to seeing them! But...

But I'm worried. Something happened recently, [as she is sure to know i am so sorry stuco prez you never asked for this literally you did not,] and it made me realize that they might not have the same chances we do 'cause I dunno if it's just for students or for anyone in the school.

Maya casts her eyes down with a small frown on her lips, clearly unhappy about the entire situation, before sighing and looking back at Subaru. ]

The shopkeeper has their own contract. Ask them for the details, not me. But you're right in that they are not considered a student in this school.

[and they're too young to be a faculty member, he rightly thinks. whatever their age is. but that means there's no records of them whatsoever, which is good and bad, because if anything happened... if they left, or died, or anything like that...

the only real mark of their being here would be the memories they left behind.

Why do you make it so hard to be friends with you?

[it's not said in like, a mean way, but genuinely curious. maya always has a distance, keeps a distance, and discourages things that other people might be touched by; if it's just how she is is one thing, but subaru's just someone who likes doing things for the people he considers himself friends with or at least friendly towards, so

it's none of his business, it's not important in the long run, but he can't help the question just popping out.]

[ It's just how she is, is what she thinks. She's not the sort of person who is easy to get along with in the first place, and whether she likes or dislikes somebody, she tends to treat them just the same. ]

I can get along with others well enough. For me, being "friends" is just a word.
