It is... my heart races all the time when I'm there.
( ever think about komaeda has claustrophobia, but he pushes through when it's something he's committed to. it's okay npckun, you can do it too. )
...
( thinking, smile smile. )
Okay! I thought you'd never ask!
( he likes it there since his luck doesn't act up badly, but... he does miss the constant silence. ) I can meet you after I put Yashiro-san's clothes back?
no subject
also I feel like Komaeda would have backed them up on their original plan of darkness exposure therapy so it's good that Subaru's got it covered instead so they don't get shoved up into the crawlspaces or something to deal with the darkness. ]
Hm... Okay. But if you don't come back to the library right away, I'm going to be mad at you, okay?
no subject
Sit in the far back, and pick a story... maybe something by Edgar Allen Poe.
( yeah, he would have, sometimes you do need the exposure therapy in tight, closed, cramp spaces... npckun would have came out alright, just look at komaeda? )
...Mhm, I'll be there, don't worry.
( he'll wave goodbye, making sure to hold onto the beanie so that it doesn't fall off as he ... power walks. )
no subject
But sure, okay... They're not going to pick up an Edgar Allen Poe book, because they're here to research deep sea fish, but they'll find a table in the far back with two chairs, and proceeds to make a wall of six other chairs so nobody else can use the table and if somebody asks if they can use one of the chairs npckun will say no.
...
Anglerfish are actually kind of a lot. ]
no subject
why won't they pick it up so they can multitask? luckily, npckun will be gifted with komaeda's presence, the ultimate walking into the library roughly about thirteen minutes later still dressed in shin's attire. he holds the scarf to his mouth to hide his expression, and he waves to npckun once he finds where they are. )
...
( it's still odd being able to hear things in the library like the scratch of paper, students clearing their throat, and led scribbling against their notepads.
he sits down next to npckun with a book and papers in hand, and he flips it open to the middle where the pages are clean, and ready to take notes. )
sorry for taking so long.
( that was so insane and i'm kind of crying... so this makes anglerfish... a dick... in a way... because of their personality... checks out. i've decided i love them. )
no subject
also yeah, anglerfish are wild and it takes a moment for npckun to look up from the book and over at Komaeda— over at the words he writes on the paper because even though it's not silent in the library anymore, the suggestion is still there.
They give him a little pout to show that they're displeased at him having taken thirteen minutes, but leans against his shoulder to see what book he has, what reference does he need when he's smart? ]
no subject
do you think when anglerfish absorbs that they combine the many personalities, are the shadow people the lure and the void the anglerfish? he took a bit, but he has to put the clothes back in the washing machine and then find a stray token to turn it back on again...
he actually has no reference book, it's just an empty notebook for him to write the study guide in. which, he'll comb through all the third year material until he finds something to do with history, and a notable piece of work: the pillow book.
hm... he turns a bit to look at the books nearby, he wonders if a copy can be found here. the musings of an almost ordinary woman, one for npckun to read if they're so curious on what komaeda is doing. )
no subject
as interesting as anglerfish are, npckun's eyes keep getting drawn back to Komaeda too, watching the pages flip and stop at history, a subject they aren't personally great at, and maybe they will take the original copies of the study guide to keep if it'll help them learn too. Math and science they can do... literature and history are tough... they have to learn Russian at some point... ]
no subject
he notices npckun peeking from time to time, but he doesn't say anything at all. allowing the other to lean up against him to read whatever they like —
sei shōnagon, the author of a book stretching throughout the ten-odd years of her time served within the court. a complicated, intelligent, and well-informed woman who was both quick and impatient, but keenly observant...
...
...
...
he turns to look at npckun, bumping foreheads (gently, affectionately) with them. curious, but silent, and in his own way of asking what's wrong? )
no subject
npckun looks up at the forehead bump, leaning into it for a moment before reaching over and stealing Komaeda's pencil to write in his notebook in their bubbly handwriting ]
Is it fun?
no subject
...
( you can tell a lot from how people write, and the bubbles... that says so much about npckun's character.
he has to find another pencil because he doesn't know if he can have that one back. )
being smart? it only makes writing the guide easier. are the anglerfish fun?
no subject
And yeah it's their pencil now. ]
Yes!!!!!!
Being smart sounds like it'd be fun, though. You know everything and can do anything.
no subject
is there anything that he didn't?
( let's be honest, his brain eats away everything that could be considered important, yet he has the mind of a dictionary, but plays stupid because he wants to see other people figure things out. having a good memory works in his favor, and other times... so it's up to npckun definition if komaeda is smart. in the end, information like this comes easy to him, especially when it's like... third grade lessons — things are really different in hope's peak academy. )
but... you'd be surprised at what i can't do.
no subject
[ A lot of what npckun knows ends up being self taught anyways, which they believe is something anybody can do: read a book, remember what's in it, move onto the next one. ]
Do you know how to play Slide? The clapping game? Show me.
no subject
( also slide? they are not playing that loud ass game in this not as silent library anymore, and there's even a little frown that appears on komaeda's face. he's... very serious about the library. )
do books bore you that much? i didn't take you for the type...
i'll reward you the game if you finish two pages on anglerfish.
( because by then he should be able to have most of the literature done, to his standards anyway, and then they can go outside the library doors and play slide. )
no subject
I like reading, but writing is hard. I'm not good at reports, because all the information is in the book and I'm just repeating it.
[ what's the point of reports!! just read the book
Persuasive essays, though, they can do. If this were a "Convince me why the anglerfish is the coolest animal in the world" essay then they would've gotten it down pat. ]
no subject
first you start off as to what type of fish is the anglerfish, and why does it live several depths below... how it helps the ecosystem.
( he smiles, looking at what the other has already written on their paper about anglerfish, and he looks npckun in the eyes after. closing his own book and pushing away his own history and literature, he focuses on what npckun has instead. )
tell me about them, and we can make two pages out the first couple of sentences you say.
then we'll be able to play.
no subject
...
It's very informative. Just not very coherent, written in that "it's like this and then like that and then—-" sort of excitable rambling way of a child talking about their favorite things and moving from topic to topic without finishing their previous thought. ]
no subject
( he's shocked, literally, his voice audible within the library as he reads what npckun has written for him, and it's one sentence after the other that explains the uses of an anglerfish. there's even some stuff he didn't know, which is like a majority, but he files half of this information as he looks back at npckun after skimming. he blinks once, then twice, and dhe sets the paper onto the table as he gives a final grade. )
This is the worst essay I've ever read.
( that's because it's not a very coherent write up, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't work, and have what's needed to be a proper essay. ) We can definitely use this!
( talking in the library because it surprised him that much. )
no subject
It's a rough draft! Don't look at it! I'm just putting ideas down!
[ Stop! don't look at it, don't say it's bad, they're sensitive and can't handle the criticism ]
no subject
( he holds it up, not letting npckun get a hold of it because he's actually charmed by how bad the set up is — it goes one thing into another, and then into another. despite that, everything written inside has to be true, considering how much information the other checked into the book for. )
We can build off this into something better... that's what hope is, too, this is a stepping stone which you can use to make something great from it! With this... we can facilitate an increase in Tsukimi-kun's grades, and you heard his teacher... he's failing.
no subject
Yeah! The next draft will be better, you'll see!
[ It's not going to be any more coherent, they're just going to insert more Fun Fish Facts in between thoughts. ]
no subject
I'll edit it after you, so write anything that you want as long as it's about anglerfish.
( this will come in handy for shin, he'll be surprised how far both him and npckun went into making sure that the other passes his class. who knew that someone who is so involved in computers as much as he is would be failing looking into the books? it's not that bad... is it.
...but then he remembers... he's going to get up. )
no subject
oh ]
Do you have to use the bathroom?
[ Why else would he be leaving? Sit down and watch them write. ]
no subject
( he looks around for them, and hopefully they won't get on them for talking... god, it should be a crime to talk in the library, actually. he slips npckun's paper between his notes on the pillow book so that no one can see it, because if they find out this is extra credit... they'll surely take it, and he can't look npckun's hard work. )
Unless you want to finish... you're doing really well.
