Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

Oh. I guess what I mean is, she has no choice but to act, given the position. It doesn't matter if people like her, or if her actions are supported. She's doing what she needs to do.

You want them all unified under her... It'll be difficult. Too many closed minded people here, some are too afraid, and there are others who can't find their grounding. How should we reign them in, I'm curious of this hope she has in the making.

It has to be somebody well liked... somebody capable, somebody with a presence, who people are naturally drawn to. Somebody able to bring people together and pull them along. Somebody... the best student in the school... universally loved and respected...

( that was so cute of them, and even komaeda has to lean up off of them to look down like he's thinking about it. they need someone with a presence, someone adored by the masses. they may not have all of that, but they do have a certain vibe about them, one that manages to pull people into their presence, they feel comforted by them.

An Ultimate can do the job. He may not have a following like Lucifer-kun, but I adore the way the Ultimate Detective manages to bring everyone together, even when he doesn't want to.

( yet, being put on the spot to lead them all, hm... doesn't sound like his place. )

Someone who can emphasize with people, learn to understand them, isn't that sort of nature rare among those who are afraid, and decide to do away with what they can't control?

[ That sort of reluctant leadership... It isn't even about capability, then. If somebody else wants to be leader, then the person who didn't want to do it in the first place would too readily give up that position to somebody who isn't qualified. Looking at you, Kaito. ]

...You shouldn't think less of an Ultimate, they're able to do extraordinary things.

( there's certain qualifications that someone needs to have to be the ideal leader in komaeda's eyes, no, as long as they have hope — that's all they need. the desire to go forward, to help those move along in an experience where one can't live without the other. hope that's born from their talents, cultivated by their actions, and the truth can build character compared to those that make excuses. )

Can an Arata be a capable leader?

Just because somebody is capable, doesn't mean they want to do something. Doesn't mean they should be forced to. I already said I don't want to do it.

[ I have this one bookmarked, I think I just searched for a general let's play and clicked on the first one, learned it was English dub, and clicked on the first Japanese one.

Anyways, what other Arata could Komaeda be talking about? They're the best, nobody else can compare, it's not even worth considering any other. ]

Brother, taller than you, not as fluffy hair, same spreadsheet of color palette, nature freak, loves to hike.

( the tinder voice. ) ...Well, if I had to create an older brother figure, I guess it'd be like that.

[ They keep their lips pressed tight, no reaction to a brother being taller than them, but they reach up and tug at their bangs in thought, look somewhat confused about the spreadsheets and color palettes, and... frowns a little at nature, at hiking, looking almost as if they're about to cry.

A brother like that... doesn't exist.

But then they get Amami so it all works out in the end. ]

[ how I shape my npcs around what icons I have available and went "npc-kun is bright and cheery, I'm never going to need this icon" but imagine this icon

not sure whether this is supposed to make them feel better or to stop crying, but they take this as an invitation to lean over and lay their head down on his lap, but also to wrap their arms around his torso and bury their face in the front of their shirt and will themselves not to cry, as if they won't if they hold their breath and hide their face and hold onto something tight. ]

( remember that one time you was like you'd never use that one rokkun icon, and then you did... just runs in the family.

it's... not as unfamiliar as it should be, having the warriors of hope as a set meant that he had to deal being in a position. genuine sadness, not the one's covered in lies to get their way, and this is why it feels different. he remembers to exhale, and his organic hand finds a way to the top of npc-kun's head, fingers slowly running through those fluffy locks of hair. gently, as if he doesn't want to harm them, but he closes his eyes as he tries to relax into the sensation. )

Anyways, npc-kun's shoulders jolt when Komaeda touches their head and they bury their face a little deeper against his stomach, not doing very much relaxing— especially when Komaeda speaks again. ]

( noooo you're right, i kinda hate that actually. a couple of days ago me and enh were talking about which of their icons held the arata family resemblance.

the jolt makes him pause, maybe he wasn't supposed to do that, and he's thinking about what his parents would do. they hated his ass, so there's only so many choices he has on that end. he waits, a couple of moments before resting his hand back against their head.

is that why npc-kun makes them... did they learn from him... )

Liked...? ( his thumb brushes a few locks of npc-kun's hair behind their ear, and he speaks low, not wanting to startle them anymore. hm, hm... ) ...Not likes?

npc-kun doesn't move at the touch on their head nor fingers through their hair, and instead they lift their face up from Komaeda's lap. ...then sort of runs their hand over Komaeda's stomach like they're trying to rub the snot and tears into the fabric so it'll disappear and nobody can prove they cried. ]

I had a brother just like that. He died when I was three.
