but he leans in close enough that he can loop his arms loosely around Komaeda's back and rest his chin on Komaeda's shoulder, to put his ear in prime whispering-to position ]

Then it's a date... I hope you can enjoy yourself.

( he whispers that first, soft and light, his words showing that he's looking forward to it himself. he hums, nothing too uncomfortable into rokkun's ear, and a hand reaches down to rest on the other's waist. )

...About those marks we all wear and graduation, do you know the highest and lowest count there's been?

( the way i remembered i was supposed to talk to him about this clue, but i was obsessed w his cheeks. )

[ He looks down at his own wrist. Looks up. ]

( the way i had to go relook at my clue too, i sent it. )

...But that was when these marks mattered, right? This year is different...

( why does he look at his tallies like he has the highest number wtf. )

It feels like aesthetic purposes, but we have them... if this year is more academics...

[ never mind his tallies ]

I mean... it's cumulative, so they're going to start adding up either way, if you're stuck here long enough. The ones who graduate with a clean slate at the impressive ones.

...A clean slate? How can anyone ever manage that?

( how can he put his hand on his hip and look sassy by hearing something like that. )

( it's obvious tallies rack up through the years, but that's not important. )

How to get through life without dying or killing? Most people managed that just fine, up until they get to this place, and then...

[ He shrugs. It's not about erasing tallies; it's about never getting them in the first place. There's no point to it, but still... ]

Everyone dies.

( don't make that face rokkun, it's a part of life, no oen actually lives forever. )

Some die sooner than others, but... ( that's not what this is about. ) there are some people who don't have any tallies, I believe this school offers tally erasure... but it's not the same.

Why would you want to erase your tallies?

[ It's a mark of... something... Whatever it is, it's easy enough to just cover it up like Rokkun and many other students do, or be like Seiya or Chiaki who would break your arm if you try to touch them ]

( he lifts his right arm, looking it over despite the sleeve that covers it — he can imagine the tallies behind the fabric. )

I could remove this whole arm... but I guess these are etched onto my soul no matter what. ( he looks to rokkun. ) Have you ever thought about removing yours?

My arm or my soul?

[ both are valid options, so he needs to ask ]

Then to remove your soul, you'd have to die... but you'd have to get rid of the tree, first, right?

( talking about his arm, he's going to hold his prosthetic hand out... give left arm, rokkun. )

[ ?? he reaches out to hold Komaeda's prosthetic, but reluctantly, because he'd rather hold the other ]

( he'll hold it for a moment, but then he'll push back the sleeve because he wants to look at his tallies. )

Isn't that where all the deceased go, or do some unlucky ones happen to be kicked out the cycle of rebirth?

( hums softly, to call it unlucky... he thinks over subaru's words, and sighs. though, not like something is bothering him, no, not to the point he needs rokkun to ask him what's on his mind. )

To be kicked out Samsara, where do you go after that...

[ There's a whole bunch of tallies. Skin looks a bit raw compared to last time, but nothing actively bleeding, and if Rokkun is annoyed at Komaeda doing what he wants, it doesn't show; after hitting a certain point, the number of tallies become meaningless, at least visually. ]

I think you have it backwards...

[ ...fine, he'll take the hint ]

Thinking about freeing everybody by burning down the tree? Or do you have another plan?

( oh, he took it which is good enough because the technicalities doesn't matter, as long as the idea is proposed, then ideas can be formed. his fingers brush over the marks. )

Your own plan is to slaughter, but they'll just go to the tree... the obvious choice would be getting rid of it, but the Gardener will kill if he learns. ( probably. ) That... and it seems too easy. Signing one's life away is an idea.

[ He makes a face like he wishes Komaeda wouldn't call it slaughter, but it's slaughter. ]

He can't get me if I'm graduating and am out of here. What's signing your life away even supposed to do?

( it's mindless slaughter, but komaeda doesn't say it like it's a bad thing... )

I understand, you're going to graduate, but... ( hmm, he leaves that alone. ) You've signed a contract before, do you know of any others?

Besides the other president's? No. There's usually some sort of privacy clause that's only void when you're dead.
