I'm not gonna list all of 'em 'cause that's over a hundred and we're not gonna be able to label them anyway but I'll do a couple~.
[he'll take rokuro's hand... tapping the thumb, index and middle fingers, then tracing them up to his wrist:]
The thumb and these guys're controlled by the radial nerve, which is one of the primary ones in your arm. Your ring and pinky, [back down to trace the delicate nerve beneath, it has a pleasant tingling sensation on the palm that stays there,] move with the ulnar, but they both stem off the brachial plexus.
[... which he continues to draw up rokuro's arm as he talks, over his shoulder and looping across his collarbones where you can feel the nerve rise against the skin.]
There's a lot of different branches from them, but I don't really wanna get into 'em since they're like, dorsal this and palmer that, like a... an alphabetical numbering system?
[.......... anyway he'll drop his hands back to working on the skeleton!]
Sorta wild how a lot of our nerves are just like, out there, and totally unprotected. At least the ribs look like they're protecting your guts, even if they can do pretty much the opposite.
no subject
Good job.
[ ... okay, yeah, back to work on the skeleton ]
The nerves that are just "out there" have to be, in order to sense the things around you. Like how you have to leave your house in order to learn about the world.
no subject
That's not a bad way to think about it~. Do you tutor people, Rocchan?
no subject
No.
[ A sharp no. A "no way in hell" no. ]
no subject
Jeez, so much for being a dependable senpai~. Why not? I think you're really good at it, I wouldn't be half as interested in doing bone study if you weren't having me learn like this.
[it's sincere, too -- subaru dislikes classwork, but this is fun. even if it's just for middle schoolers, even if it's making up for a little bit of lost time... he actually really appreciates it]
no subject
[ The best ones are the ones that are engaging, who encourage their students to try things out and make mistake and figure things out for themselves, who make learning an experience. Who are very much like somebody he really hates, so no. No thanks. ]
I don't want to be a tutor or a teacher or anything like that. I'm going to be an architect.
[ Subtle subject change, hoping Subaru will take the bait and drop the whole teaching thing. ]
no subject
subaru does go for the bait though, because he really did like the building the other did!!!!]
Are you gonna build the thing you were totally zoned in on earlier?
no subject
[ It takes him a moment to recall what Subaru's talking about, a mindless sketch of something that clutters his brain and he has to physically remove it line by line. ]
No... It's too big and impractical. I would have a hell of a time convincing any client to put forth the money towards something that ostentatious.
no subject
[all kinds of games really but. open world ones are fun.]
no subject
no subject
I wanna name it now~. How about...
[... what had it been... oh--]
Saransk?
no subject
There's no building like this in Saransk.
no subject
but also...?]
There's not? [how does rokuro know about the fantasy kingdom housed in star 1.] Then what sorta buildings are there?
no subject
Museums, churches, theaters, colleges...
[ A sports arena planned for 2010 but only time traveler Rokkun is allowed to know that ]
no subject
so maybe it's not a fantasy kingdom...? in that case, is it a common knowledge thing, or...]
Hometown before you lived in the woods?
no subject
How do you know where I lived?
no subject
[in around it's sort of all the same... to him. like if you live at the foot of the mountains, you live in the mountains. if you live at the edge of a forest, you live in the forest.]
no subject
...Okay. But no, I've always lived there.
no subject
also, it seems like rokuro's relaxed a little...]
Cool~. I've always lived in the city and suburbs and stuff like that, but my hometown's got the sea right by it! Me and Daikichi walk there sometimes~. [...] I take back what I said about being chased by a bear, by the way. It's way scarier than I thought. ♪
no subject
Living by the seaside sounds nice. Why'd you leave?
no subject
We eventually moved back, the school I "transferred" from is like... right there on a hill overlooking the sea. They've got really pretty fireworks in the summer, and the stars are clear and bright in the winter. I think there's about as many out here as there were there.
[so, so many stars.]
no subject
[ No light pollution, unless you're Keigo who walks around with a flashlight in a deathgrip at night if they have to go anywhere on their own ]
no subject
[a town big enough for about 300 people, say.]
Is Saransk a real place, by the way...? A friend of mine mentioned it when we were playing around, but I just thought they pulled out of thin air.
no subject
[ Maybe after skeletons he'll force Subaru to draw the world map and label all the countries etc ]
no subject
[oh, he is definitely going to need that lesson on the world]
