( that's what it is, because he doesn't care for the actual time as long as he can do something with them, and that's him still holding onto the cover to tug so that they'd get up. he lifts one hand to press his index finger against his lips, shushing them since everyone else in the room is asleep. )
We shouldn't wake the others.
( they have to get their sleep since this is the only day of the week they're allowed to sleep in. ) Put on something, and let's go outside the room.
no subject
What do they want for breakfast... Toast with jam, maybe. ]
no subject
Spend the whole day with me... I'm lonely.
( yeah, he is. please don't hate him for that, but he's attached to hikaru's side as he waits for them to turn left or right, but since komaeda believes their daily regime is to get something to eat... he's not surprised if they go to the kitchen. )
Okay?
no subject
[ It's an easy agreement of somebody who doesn't really make plans until somebody texts them the morning of to ask if they're free, and besides that, Hikaru knows what it's like to be lonely.
FIRST though they're turning left towards the other end of the building so they can brush their teeth and shower because I cannot fathom doing anything else upon waking until those two things are done. And then they'll head to the kitchen and pull two eggs out of the fridge to set aside so they can start getting to room temperature. ]
no subject
maybe he's got the zoomies himself... )
Goto-kun... I want you to pay attention to me! What are we eating today?
( he sees the eggs, but he wants an audible answer. i'm so sorry. )
no subject
Fried egg and toast! How do you like your eggs? What do you want on your toast?
[ But in turning around from the counter with a bag of sliced bread, Hikaru has a smile on their face. It's a familiar feeling comparable to npckun's light switch except Hikaru's feels more natural, as if they just needed time to wake up and be pleasant. ]
no subject
Sunny side up, and butter... that'll be fine.
( that's all he eats if he does have breakfast, and it's been told to him that he should eat better, and maybe his body will... not be the way it is. anyway, he doesn't care about getting well, and he crosses his arms on the table as he watches them. he's gauging them for now, trying to figure out how he should proceed.
...
...
oh. he's going to walk over to the sink to wash his own hands real quick, and once he's done, he's going to check the cabinets for boxed rice. ) Did you sleep well?
no subject
[ At least Komaeda's meal preferences are simple and easy, and that works for them. They retrieve butter from the fridge to get that to room temperature too while the bread is toasting. Two plates from the cabinet, saltshaker to sprinkle on top of their own egg, two cups... looks inside the fridge to see if there's any leftover barley tea. ]
How did you sleep?
no subject
( bad dreams are very suffering, right? think of how it must feel to wake up to reality knowing that their brain made them go through something they wanted to forget. or a scenario they'd never want to be in, but the neurons thought differently, and wanted to pit their hope mentally rather than physically. )
I got bored... so I stayed up half the night. It's hard to sleep in that room... ( you know when the ultimate detective is no longer there "everything can't be about shuichi" listen komaeda LOVES his ultimates! ) ...but if I told Hinata-kun I wanted to sleep outside, he'd cause a fuss... and then you'd never get any sleep.
no subject
Maybe if you tired yourself out during the day, you'd be able to sleep through the night? I guess the top bunk has its own problems too, since you can't block out the moonlight from above.
no subject
( you know, it's more than just the light, it's just... how does he explain it without sounding like he wants attention? )
Halloween is coming, we should place a sheet over it so that the moon's light can make shapes within the room.
no subject
What does that have to do with Halloween?
[ They laugh, turning on the stove and heating the oil. A sheet would block out the sunlight too, and moonlight isn't so strong that any shapes cut into a sheet would be preserved, but they could at least figure out a way to have it easily covered and uncovered. ]
Sounds like fun, though! We can do that after breakfast.
no subject
Halloween is soon... I want to do something fun for it, it would make a nice escape room... ( now that he thinks about it, given the window in the ceiling, that could be their means of escape — it'd call for a little work, but he could see it happening. )
Though that's what haunted houses are for... a scavenger hunt would do nicely, we'd just have to put the players lives on the line...
( and then he manages to focus on hikaru's response, and he nods after. ) We can do it all after breakfast, I gotcha!
no subject
[ It's not summer anymore, but it's still fun, both the scaring and... well, they're not so easily scared. ]
The dorms would be a great place to do something like that, but it'll be hard getting everything planned and set up without everybody else knowing all the surprises. Maybe we can play in the forest...
no subject
he'll pour the rice in a bowl with a strainer so that he can run cold water over it to clean it, after, he'll pour it into another bowl so that they can soak in the cold water.
he'll walk over to the cabinets for nori sheets to set on the counter. )
Hm? The forest... isn't there an electric gate in the way? I think it could be fun if we managed to shut it off.
( he turns to hikaru, watching them for a moment. ) Do you know how? We can use it as part of the game.
no subject
There's no electric gate that I know of... We're not supposed to go out there, but physically, there's nothing stopping us?
no subject
Goto-kun... do you normally break the rules?
( he didn't think they were that type of person, but komaeda taps his chin in thought as he puts the nori on a plate, and tries to cut out little shapes from it... very tiny ones... he's doing something. )
Not that it's a big deal, because we can if you're interested... why do they say we can't go out, it's just a forest...
no subject
Not normally...
[ But sometimes... They distinctly remember Lucifer asking them to bring back some sort of herb and the only place they could find it was in somebody's home garden so they, uh, borrowed some. ]
And I guess it's because they can't be responsible for students if they're in the forest. There's no one to keep an eye on people if they get lost or attacked by wild animals, that sort of thing.
no subject
We can go... What sort of activities would you like to do, a scavenger hunt at night would work well... two people to a team, or we can sleep gas every classroom, and then move their bodies one by one out into the forest furthest from the school, and have them try and survive in an unknown location.
( it's fine, it's not like the teacher's care about them anyway. )
They can take care of themselves, they are hopeful individuals after all... Now we just need enemies...
( looks at hikaru and their cultist fit like he's onto something. )
no subject
But it's fine, really, and Hikaru takes this as permission to share Komaeda's toast too, taking a bite of it and thinking they should finish this one first while the bread is still hot. ]
That's sort of... not what I was thinking. When we played in the woods, we caught and released fireflies, and roasted sweet potatoes over a fire, that sort of thing.
no subject
( he'll check the rice now, removing it from the heat, then leaving the cover on, and allow it to rest for another ten minutes. as he does that, he leaves from the counter to check the cabinets, searching for... a specific item. )
Anyone can do those things, but I guess the joy of being with people... is why they'd even join in.
no subject
Well, yeah, there's no point of doing those things if there's nobody else... Can I help you find something?
[ Your toast is getting cold ]
no subject
when he's called out though, he'll stare at them, and then look at his toast thinking if he offers them food, he'll leave them alone. )
Food containers, so you can't see inside. I just want to know where we keep them.
( he'll leave that to hikaru, and go to check on the rice. ) Have you ever molded rice into little animals, Yashiro-san taught me.
no subject
No, I've never done that before. I've seen the molds sold in the stores, though! Is that what you're doing?
[ That's cute? Komaeda didn't seem the type, but everybody's full of surprises. Anyways, they don't find any containers that aren't clear plastic with an opaque lid, so the best they can do is to couple that with parchment paper to cover up the sides from inside. ]
no subject
Yeah! I wanted to try my hand at it today, and if I fail... perhaps they'll be better tomorrow! Hopefully my luck doesn't fail me!
( he's never learning anything cute again, i swear. now this doesn't mean he's good at it, but if hikaru happens to look at the nori that komaeda's cut out — the eyes and nose are all different sizes, but it does seem like he's committed to the cause. )
I'm not going to eat it, and... I'll have to make a batch later, anyway... so you can eat these and tell me what you think. ( the parchment paper is so smart, forgot that was even a thing, but komaeda's going to wash his hands (again) before he goes back over to the rice to grab a little and roll some into little balls, trying to remember the way nene taught him. ) That's if you're still hungry...
