August Event
Please let August be better than July I'm begging
✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the storeis currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

You haven't even proposed properly, nor taken me out... why would I marry someone like you?
( what does he get from this?
big sigh, they never said marriage was the way to death. or, well straight boomer men do, but komaeda's not straight so it's like... what is going on! )
no subject
Because I want your money!
[ Why does he need any more reason than that!! With a huff, npc-kun starts shoving Komaeda back out the door before he touches something and gets killed before they can be wedded and he writes the will. ]
no subject
Hey... hey... don't push! I didn't get to finish looking —
( he did, but he's been kicked out. at least he remembers what he say, a variety of little totems with different side effects. he's guessing he can't have any of them if they all have some sort of end where people die. fiancés deserve to die. )
Do I at least get a sample to show off? ( word of mouth doesn't work. )
no subject
[ The door clicks behind them and npc-kun steers Komaeda back in front of the box of keychains, look at how thoughtful they are, they would make such a good spouse ]
no subject
I'm sure they'll buy ten, you'll come with me and convince them.
( being locked in here is no good... and who will rob them? some students, but listen, they can't get in the closet so it's fine. )
Anyway, which totem will you sell me? ( what is spouse worthy that they're doing? they don't even know his name!! )
no subject
Are your friends rich...?
[ Ideally, wallet-kun would buy the ten extra keychains and give them out, but it doesn't really matter where the money comes from as long as it ends up in the shopkeeper's hands.
They take the box back from him and places it back on the shelf. ]
Use your hope charm to advertise my shop. Get ten people, money in hand, to come here and buy a keychain each— or one person to buy ten, whatever— and I'll sell you a totem. The owl one isn't that painful.
no subject
Depends on what's rich to you.
( not the box that's slipped out his hand, but okay, maybe npc-kun has bossy wife energy, but that will not win against komaeda. he'll just sit on the actual table now since there isn't anything in his way as he watches the other put the box onto the shelf.
plucking the charm out from his pocket, he'll jingle it so that they can see. )
...Are you poor?
no subject
...Depends on what's poor to you.
[ Even with this much cash, they can't say they're rich. Not when they need more and more, never satisfied with what they have. ]
I need money for my own reasons. Lots and lots of it. I don't mind being a charity case if you want to toss a few extra bucks my way, but I don't have to tell you anything.
no subject
( it won't, because only hope is what makes komaeda submit, but that doesn't mean npc-kun can't try.
because there's nothing wrong with an attempt, and maybe it'll help others be more willing to pay. a sob story to go along with the hope charm? sounds nice. )
I'll be one step closer to the owl totem—- ... ah, what does it even do... Does it tell me why you're in need of money?
no subject
[ They could dress in rags and cling to people's legs and cry on their shoes, but to make up a sob story... They are not a liar. ]
If you care at all, then keep [ financially ] supporting me until I've reached my dream, and you can see for yourself.
no subject
You sound like someone I know...
( with his elbow propped up on the table, he rests his cheek into the palm of his hand as he watches the other. )
But there's a problem... I'm interested in your hope, dreams are for another day. Can you show me that when it's all said and done?
no subject
Someone you know? Who?
[ Who else is this charming in the entire school? There's no one. ]
My hope, though... It's what I'm holding onto, what makes me go to work every single day.
no subject
There's no need to say names, I think it'd embarrass that person, actually...
( he taps his bottom lip thoughtfully, nodding to himself. )
You'd lose sight of yourself.
( moving on!! no need to understand komaeda's ramblings, npc-kun, you're already semi-married, what more do they need? ) That's my hope too, I want to see everyone here achieve theirs... I want to see a world covered in hope, and those worthless no longer covering its light. How bright are you? What makes you rise like the sun... I want to meet a person whose desire glistens more than anyone else's.
no subject
Hmmmm... I know somebody like that. But I'm not going to tell you their name, 'cause you won't tell me who you're talking about.
[ And if npc-kun is petty, that isn't their problem. ]
no subject
Is it you?
( because they don't know their name yet? slaps knee. )
Your strong will, that determination... I say there's an uncanny familiarity, but I want to make sure, and see it for myself...
( this would be so easier if komaeda was a liar and just said someone at random. )
no subject
... ]
I know two people like that.
[ they'll take the brazen selfishness, yeah, but that wasn't who they had in mind ]
no subject
Hm... I'm surprised that you actually notice people, what are they like?
( npc-kun has... friends... and a spouse... moving up in the world... )
no subject
[ Guess what the sure-fire way is to catch npc-kun's eye ]
no subject
he's going to touch npc-kun's shoulder, shaking them a bit. )
Oh really? How surprising! ( not really. ) Why haven't you asked them to buy out your merchandise?
( the real question. ) Hm, there's always the chance they're not into totems.
no subject
No, they're not. They spend their money on other stuff that I don't stock, which is stupid. I mean, I have keychains!
no subject
dog-leaning. )
Oh, I get it. Perhaps I've been spending my money incorrectly, I should follow their lead.
( he doesn't even care for it, he's just always been lucky to obtain it. imagine watching your parents die to earn their inheritance, and then being kidnapped to find a winning lotto ticket inside the bag you were stolen in with no one to pay the ransom, so the kidnapper felt bad enough to let you go, and then being deemed "lucky". even after, the countless amount of funds he gained as people died one by one did nothing for him, if only he lived a simple life like npc-kun.
anyway, messing with npc-kun is fun to him. new past time. )
no subject
No, you shouldn't! You should spend all your money on me! You don't even have to buy anything— just give me your money!
no subject
Huh... Is that what I should do? That's counterproductive to having it.
( maybe npc-kun can have something once a month... komaeda will think about it, like lunch money. )
You must be mistaken, I think you should look for the word... allowance.
no subject
An allowance, though... installments instead of a lump sum...
... ]
An allowance like... 100,000 yen a day?
[ That's only a keychain a day, that's reasonable, right ]
no subject
No.
( quick, to the point. at least there's a smile on his face as he says so that npc-kun doesn't get the wrong idea. )
You know how to be patient, don't you? Although... I don't really get anything out of this, and buying hope is impossible. Maybe you're a lost cause...
( spouses don't give allowances either... )
