Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

big sigh, they never said marriage was the way to death. or, well straight boomer men do, but komaeda's not straight so it's like... what is going on! )

[ The game is cursed when one of my npcs becomes a Komaeda. ]

[ Why does he need any more reason than that!! With a huff, npc-kun starts shoving Komaeda back out the door before he touches something and gets killed before they can be wedded and he writes the will. ]

( HONESTLY YEAH, i'm crying, npc-kun is well on their way for money. it's like flavor of love. )

Hey... hey... don't push! I didn't get to finish looking —

( he did, but he's been kicked out. at least he remembers what he say, a variety of little totems with different side effects. he's guessing he can't have any of them if they all have some sort of end where people die. fiancés deserve to die. )

Do I at least get a sample to show off? ( word of mouth doesn't work. )

You have your hope charm! If that doesn't convince them, buy ten more!

[ The door clicks behind them and npc-kun steers Komaeda back in front of the box of keychains, look at how thoughtful they are, they would make such a good spouse ]

( he's going to pick up the box, and take them over to a counter to see how many there is... )

I'm sure they'll buy ten, you'll come with me and convince them.

( being locked in here is no good... and who will rob them? some students, but listen, they can't get in the closet so it's fine. )

Anyway, which totem will you sell me? ( what is spouse worthy that they're doing? they don't even know his name!! )

[ Ideally, wallet-kun would buy the ten extra keychains and give them out, but it doesn't really matter where the money comes from as long as it ends up in the shopkeeper's hands.

They take the box back from him and places it back on the shelf. ]

Use your hope charm to advertise my shop. Get ten people, money in hand, to come here and buy a keychain each— or one person to buy ten, whatever— and I'll sell you a totem. The owl one isn't that painful.

( not the box that's slipped out his hand, but okay, maybe npc-kun has bossy wife energy, but that will not win against komaeda. he'll just sit on the actual table now since there isn't anything in his way as he watches the other put the box onto the shelf.

[ They shove their hands into their pants pockets, feeling the wadded up bills that had to be stuffed into both pockets to make them all fit. ]

...Depends on what's poor to you.

[ Even with this much cash, they can't say they're rich. Not when they need more and more, never satisfied with what they have. ]

I need money for my own reasons. Lots and lots of it. I don't mind being a charity case if you want to toss a few extra bucks my way, but I don't have to tell you anything.

Wouldn't the emotional attachment to why you need more money persuade my heart to give in?

( it won't, because only hope is what makes komaeda submit, but that doesn't mean npc-kun can't try.

because there's nothing wrong with an attempt, and maybe it'll help others be more willing to pay. a sob story to go along with the hope charm? sounds nice. )

I'll be one step closer to the owl totem—- ... ah, what does it even do... Does it tell me why you're in need of money?

No, it won't. It's a selfish reason, and one nobody else is going to care about.

[ They could dress in rags and cling to people's legs and cry on their shoes, but to make up a sob story... They are not a liar. ]

If you care at all, then keep [ financially ] supporting me until I've reached my dream, and you can see for yourself.

( good because komaeda doesn't lie, either. another aspect they can mutually agree on. )

( with his elbow propped up on the table, he rests his cheek into the palm of his hand as he watches the other. )

But there's a problem... I'm interested in your hope, dreams are for another day. Can you show me that when it's all said and done?

[ npc-kun climbs on top of the desk too— Komaeda had better have left them room, otherwise they're nudging him aside with their foot so they can sit cross-legged on the surface. ]

[ Who else is this charming in the entire school? There's no one. ]

My hope, though... It's what I'm holding onto, what makes me go to work every single day.

( komaeda may have a fat ass... but there's enough room on desk to share with npc-kun. he scoots over a bit before resting his hands into the seat of his lap, and he watches the other. honestly, this might be the shopkeeper's first time showing actual interest in komaeda's life — or interest in who's threatening their charming spot, probably that one. )

There's no need to say names, I think it'd embarrass that person, actually...

( he taps his bottom lip thoughtfully, nodding to himself. )

( moving on!! no need to understand komaeda's ramblings, npc-kun, you're already semi-married, what more do they need? ) That's my hope too, I want to see everyone here achieve theirs... [ see npc-kun visibly deflating when Komaeda touches their shoulder ]

No, they're not. They spend their money on other stuff that I don't stock, which is stupid. I mean, I have keychains!

( komaeda blindly ignores that and continues touching, and then lifts a hand to pat their head.

Oh, I get it. Perhaps I've been spending my money incorrectly, I should follow their lead.

( he doesn't even care for it, he's just always been lucky to obtain it. imagine watching your parents die to earn their inheritance, and then being kidnapped to find a winning lotto ticket inside the bag you were stolen in with no one to pay the ransom, so the kidnapper felt bad enough to let you go, and then being deemed "lucky". even after, the countless amount of funds he gained as people died one by one did nothing for him, if only he lived a simple life like npc-kun.

anyway, messing with npc-kun is fun to him. new past time. )

[ npc-kun puts their hands on top of Komaeda's hand to hold it on top of their head, so he can't pat but it's still there. grrrrr ]

No, you shouldn't! You should spend all your money on me! You don't even have to buy anything— just give me your money!

( keeping his hand there, npc-kun will find that they're cold... but komaeda doesn't try to pull away (he touched first, so he doesn't feel uncomfortable). he may not be able to pat, but he's scratching the top of their head... dog. )

Huh... Is that what I should do? That's counterproductive to having it.

( maybe npc-kun can have something once a month... komaeda will think about it, like lunch money. )
