Please let August be better than July I'm begging

✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the store is currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

[ npc-kun places their hand on Komaeda's face and pushes him back, not even with the decency to push his face aside, it's more like they're trying to flatten his nose into his face.

Incidentally, npc-kun smells of pine. ]

...I guess you did pay 100,000 yen for a keychain. Let go and I'll show you.

( stopppp, he won't get off that easily, especially with npc-kun's hand in his face, komaeda will lick it first, and then bite (playfully), but annoying enough.

deep breath, a very fresh smell, komaeda's fine with latching on. )

( he let's go after, stuffing his hands into his pocket along with the charm so that they don't go roaming again. )

[ Grooooooooss, npc-kun wipes their hand on Komaeda's face at the first opportunity. The things they have to suffer for money...

They go around the counter to the room behind them and places their hand on the handle—- ]

Oh yeah, I should warn you. Don't touch anything inside, or the security system's going to kick in.

[ They turn the handle and open the door to what looks more like a closet than part of the store. It is, in fact, a closet. They weren't given much space to set up shop in the first place. Anyways, everything here is displayed on the shelves, with a tag under each to identify the object and give its price. ]

( why doesn't npc-kun appreciate komaeda's spit? sighs, only a few understand the Luxury. )

( he flips his jacket like... wings, or whatever that gesture is people do when they have their hands in their pockets, but he's not going to touch anything. once he's let in, he's darting past npc-kun to look at what this place has to offer, and it's a variety of things which he didn't think of seeing. his eyes looking at the tags and prices, and everything must be so high back here — what does "threads" mean (jk, or am i...) hm, mysterious, everything is as high as the outside. )

Yep, you'd really get in trouble for half of this...

( he stops in front of a few totems, staring... are they made of wood... pine specifically...? :) he knows that he's not allowed to touch, but that doesn't stop him from asking: )

[ He'd better not, because removing anything off the shelf, even with his jacket wings, would be considered touching. There's not much space to dart around, so npc-kun is right behind him to see what's catching his eye—- what prices they can jack up the next business day. ]

That's why it's a secret. The only person who can open that door is me. The only person who can remove anything from here is me.

[ The totems look like they're made of carved, warm brown wood. ]

I guess you can say they're charms... sort of. Are you interested?

These are special totems, extremely rare and limited edition! This one here's a charm to keep you from dying, but after its magic is used up, you drop dead! Wow! Amazing! I'm not selling it to you.

[ no sympathies from npc-kun, especially since Komaeda keeps making them drop the act, it's exhausting. ]

People will buy it once it's closer to graduation. These things only work inside the school, so once they get out of here, it has no hold over them anymore.

( don't know whether komaeda should be proud or saddened by this. )

It'd work in my favor, you know? I think I've been a first year for about... two years maybe... ( if he goes off the camera he found, but npc-kun wouldn't know if they're excited that komaeda's stacked with cash. ) ...it's time to end my suffering. I'll never graduate.

[ If he wants to die so badly, then marriage shouldn't be a big deal. npc-kun will kill him and reap the rewards, and Komaeda would be dead, it's a win-win ]

( who is trying to look at npc contact and see that npc-kun's last name is "komaeda", how do they even explain that? i'm crying. )

big sigh, they never said marriage was the way to death. or, well straight boomer men do, but komaeda's not straight so it's like... what is going on! )

[ The game is cursed when one of my npcs becomes a Komaeda. ]

[ Why does he need any more reason than that!! With a huff, npc-kun starts shoving Komaeda back out the door before he touches something and gets killed before they can be wedded and he writes the will. ]

( HONESTLY YEAH, i'm crying, npc-kun is well on their way for money. it's like flavor of love. )

Hey... hey... don't push! I didn't get to finish looking —

( he did, but he's been kicked out. at least he remembers what he say, a variety of little totems with different side effects. he's guessing he can't have any of them if they all have some sort of end where people die. fiancés deserve to die. )

Do I at least get a sample to show off? ( word of mouth doesn't work. )

You have your hope charm! If that doesn't convince them, buy ten more!

[ The door clicks behind them and npc-kun steers Komaeda back in front of the box of keychains, look at how thoughtful they are, they would make such a good spouse ]

( he's going to pick up the box, and take them over to a counter to see how many there is... )

I'm sure they'll buy ten, you'll come with me and convince them.

( being locked in here is no good... and who will rob them? some students, but listen, they can't get in the closet so it's fine. )

[ Ideally, wallet-kun would buy the ten extra keychains and give them out, but it doesn't really matter where the money comes from as long as it ends up in the shopkeeper's hands.

They take the box back from him and places it back on the shelf. ]

Use your hope charm to advertise my shop. Get ten people, money in hand, to come here and buy a keychain each— or one person to buy ten, whatever— and I'll sell you a totem. The owl one isn't that painful.

( not the box that's slipped out his hand, but okay, maybe npc-kun has bossy wife energy, but that will not win against komaeda. he'll just sit on the actual table now since there isn't anything in his way as he watches the other put the box onto the shelf.

[ They shove their hands into their pants pockets, feeling the wadded up bills that had to be stuffed into both pockets to make them all fit. ]

...Depends on what's poor to you.

[ Even with this much cash, they can't say they're rich. Not when they need more and more, never satisfied with what they have. ]

I need money for my own reasons. Lots and lots of it. I don't mind being a charity case if you want to toss a few extra bucks my way, but I don't have to tell you anything.

Wouldn't the emotional attachment to why you need more money persuade my heart to give in?

( it won't, because only hope is what makes komaeda submit, but that doesn't mean npc-kun can't try.

because there's nothing wrong with an attempt, and maybe it'll help others be more willing to pay. a sob story to go along with the hope charm? sounds nice. )

I'll be one step closer to the owl totem—- ... ah, what does it even do... Does it tell me why you're in need of money?

No, it won't. It's a selfish reason, and one nobody else is going to care about.

[ They could dress in rags and cling to people's legs and cry on their shoes, but to make up a sob story... They are not a liar. ]
