August Event
Please let August be better than July I'm begging
✽ Due to 10+ classes raising their ranks last month, ALL characters have access to the courtyard via the door in the locker area and the windows facing the courtyard.
✽ Characters with 1-10 tallies are not able to get any further past the end of the courtyard before they fall unconscious; characters with 10-20 can get halfway to the pool building before the same happens to them; characters with 20+ tallies can reach the pool building but unfortunately, the door is on the other side. There are no windows on the walls, but from the clocktower, characters can see that it has a glass ceiling, though they are unable to see inside.
✽ Outside, there is no breeze, and it occasionally rains ash.
✽ Characters going up to the 4th floor will feel that the door is warm to the touch, and will occasionally open (see: missions)
✽ The student store opens, with the door propped open with a doorstopper. The npc running the storeis currently not interested in conversation, but may be available for threading in the future and is available for threading in the toplevel below. Please see the updated bonus activity page for more information.
✽ Posted on the bulletin board and also handed to each club president before break is the notice that proof of club activity is due at the end of break. Please submit these proofs in the toplevel below.
✽ There is another ad on the bulletin board advertising an exchange student program for the month of October. Applications will be taken until the end of August, and there is a 300 merit point fee. Sister cities include Death City, Devildom, Ishigami Village, Lanling, LazyTown, and Maiami City.

Yeah, there's no helping you. Give it to somebody who thinks things are hopeless. A charm that may or may not work is still something for them to latch onto, when they have nothing else.
no subject
Thank you for the compliment! I do find myself to be... so filled with hope... ah, you made my heart skip a beat, thank you, thank you.
( there's a soft smile from that, who knew npc-kun was capable of encouraging words? their untalented worth can bask in komaeda's rays of light, it's the least he can do. well there are a few hopeless individuals here... whether komaeda likes it or not. was nanami hopeless too, is that why rokkun offered her one. )
Do I offer them one by one, or just the whole charm... I've seen just the beads floating around.
no subject
That's really too many thank-yous, but npc-kun doesn't accept or reject or react to them at all until he asks the question and, unsurprisingly, they brighten up again. ]
The entire charm works best!
[ BUY MORE ]
Just the beads themselves are going to be symbolic when removed from one another. You're going to want to keep them all together for its full power!
no subject
noooo, that was komaeda being a freak. ugh, his hope, but back to important matters. )
You're a pretty interesting character in the string of their stories, to focus so much on symbolism... I'm glad that you're a new addition to their ranks.
( i promise you he talks like this, i'm crying... )
If there aren't results, I'll make sure the person I give it to comes and sees you, how about that? ( so npc-kun can get money out of them. teamwork! )
no subject
Yes, please do so! Some people are just so hopeless, they need more than just a single charm! I've got all sorts of things here that can help people like that, so send them all my way!
[ Interesting character, ranks of whoever Komaeda is talking about, blah blah blah whatever. This is a tried and true retail worker skill: the ability to nod and go "mmhm" and "yeah" while listening to absolutely nothing, I've gotten so many comments on how engaging I am while my brain is shut off ]
no subject
And about your secret menu? Do I tell them about that as well?
( the GOODS. the GOODS. )
no subject
But, hmm, should their secret menu be spread around like that? Advertisement is advertisement, but at the same time... ]
...Yes, but not anywhere a teacher or other staff can hear.
[ The things they keep in the back are maybe not altogether legal, so best keep this on the down low ]
Other than that, yes, please do! Tell them I sell hope!
no subject
If it's true hope — ( charm aside, he'll wrap his arms around npc-kun's waist (to be annoying) because i remember they came out from behind the counter for that sell of theirs. the ultimate will brush his cheek against their shoulder. )
I want to see, you can say I'm a connoisseur! I just want my more hopeless peers to become hopeful, and if I understand what you're selling... I can help you a little more.
( because this is npc-kun's "hope," so in a way, it's understandable that they say they sell hope. )
no subject
[ npc-kun places their hand on Komaeda's face and pushes him back, not even with the decency to push his face aside, it's more like they're trying to flatten his nose into his face.
Incidentally, npc-kun smells of pine. ]
...I guess you did pay 100,000 yen for a keychain. Let go and I'll show you.
no subject
deep breath, a very fresh smell, komaeda's fine with latching on. )
...
( he let's go after, stuffing his hands into his pocket along with the charm so that they don't go roaming again. )
I'll follow your lead.
no subject
They go around the counter to the room behind them and places their hand on the handle—- ]
Oh yeah, I should warn you. Don't touch anything inside, or the security system's going to kick in.
[ They turn the handle and open the door to what looks more like a closet than part of the store. It is, in fact, a closet. They weren't given much space to set up shop in the first place. Anyways, everything here is displayed on the shelves, with a tag under each to identify the object and give its price. ]
no subject
Don't worry, can't you see...? I'm prepared.
( he flips his jacket like... wings, or whatever that gesture is people do when they have their hands in their pockets, but he's not going to touch anything. once he's let in, he's darting past npc-kun to look at what this place has to offer, and it's a variety of things which he didn't think of seeing. his eyes looking at the tags and prices, and everything must be so high back here —
what does "threads" mean (jk, or am i...)hm, mysterious, everything is as high as the outside. )Yep, you'd really get in trouble for half of this...
( he stops in front of a few totems, staring... are they made of wood... pine specifically...? :) he knows that he's not allowed to touch, but that doesn't stop him from asking: )
Are these charms, too?
no subject
That's why it's a secret. The only person who can open that door is me. The only person who can remove anything from here is me.
[ The totems look like they're made of carved, warm brown wood. ]
I guess you can say they're charms... sort of. Are you interested?
no subject
( but he won't... he couldn't even get a little fingernail. aside from that, he's crouching down to look at the totems... in this little closet. not even the rich people walk in closet, just this... space. )
Ah... you must have odd powers too, something like his...
( is they related to the counselor, is this rokkun's long lost sibling, please... why is everyone control freaks about doors! ) It depends, what will they do for me when they're probably better for others?
no subject
Powers... Something like that!
[ Maybe I'll make npc-kun an Arata, who knows, maybe it's just a really common surname in 1999 wherever Yogen is. But never mind them, let them switch back to salesperson mode real quick ]
These are special totems, extremely rare and limited edition! This one here's a charm to keep you from dying, but after its magic is used up, you drop dead! Wow! Amazing! I'm not selling it to you.
no subject
visibly, he's taken aback, like his whole existence for living was just swiped away from him... just like that. )
What do you mean you won't sell it to me?
( he heard death, he's deATHsperate!?!??!!?!?!!!!!!!!! )
no subject
[ Give them your entire fortune and then we'll talk shop ]
no subject
guess that's my once a month thing, huh...
ANYWAY! this backfired, he's like wtf? )
Don't you think that's a little unfair, I mean... no one else will buy it, tons of people here don't want to die. Sounds like I'm your only choice in a successful sell.
( he doesn't even think about the quirks, just the aftermath. )
no subject
[ no sympathies from npc-kun, especially since Komaeda keeps making them drop the act, it's exhausting. ]
People will buy it once it's closer to graduation. These things only work inside the school, so once they get out of here, it has no hold over them anymore.
no subject
It'd work in my favor, you know? I think I've been a first year for about... two years maybe... ( if he goes off the camera he found, but npc-kun wouldn't know if they're excited that komaeda's stacked with cash. ) ...it's time to end my suffering. I'll never graduate.
( so he'll never get close to where he'll need the totem! this is why he deserves it now.
emotional... manipulation. )
no subject
If it's about ending your suffering, I'm not interested.
[ ... ]
Unless you write me into your will as the sole beneficiary.
no subject
( because everyone loves komaeda ? death hates him, so help him... npc-kun. )
...? We'd have to be married, so no.
no subject
[ If he wants to die so badly, then marriage shouldn't be a big deal. npc-kun will kill him and reap the rewards, and Komaeda would be dead, it's a win-win ]
no subject
You haven't even proposed properly, nor taken me out... why would I marry someone like you?
( what does he get from this?
big sigh, they never said marriage was the way to death. or, well straight boomer men do, but komaeda's not straight so it's like... what is going on! )
no subject
Because I want your money!
[ Why does he need any more reason than that!! With a huff, npc-kun starts shoving Komaeda back out the door before he touches something and gets killed before they can be wedded and he writes the will. ]
